The video itself is great and Bolton is fantastic. The song ? Not so much. It loses its impact whe you listen to it alone.

Club parts were lame as hell, I'm assuming that was on purpose. :P Michael Bolton totally rules for doing this.

The thing is, they can do those lame parts in a genuinely funny way, like in their other songs, here it just seemed all forced and a bit cringe worthy. Maybe it will grow on me.

I thought the club parts worked because they kept it serious (and kinda lame) as a contrast to the lunacy of Bolton and Sparrow.

If they had made the lyrics of the club sections (or the visuals in the video) less "straight-man" and more "jizz in my pants" the contrast with nutty Bolton would have been lessened.

I think it works as is keeping the main song really straight laced and attempting to be serious. because, man, those songs are always kinda eye rolling.

"This whole town's a pussy just waiting to get fucked."

Ahhh, good stuff.

Great video.

I really don't know if I want a Japan Video or not. I mean the song practicly is made to make you imagine all the stuff they're doing and that works really well by itself. Though I have to admit I want to see it actually happen.
RENTAL CAR! Dump it in the river!!

Yup, thats how I feel about it.

i enjoyed michael bolton. i have been wondering when he might resurface and this was definitely an awesome way to do it.

this is a minor and subtle point but one thing I really love about this song is how, in this "universe" where Bolton is a cinephile, The Lonely Island are a serious hip hop group.

they're not a comedy team in this world. their song is serious, they want Bolton to be serious and sing about getting back to the club.

the joke is that their serious song isn't being taken seriously by anyone else. In all their other songs, they're being ridiculous themselves. they may keep their faces straight but they're the ones singing the jokes. not here.

In this bizarro world, The Lonely Island are regular boring hip hop stars.

I'm not going to lie, I actually dig Bolton. I have a bunch of his songs, I'm a sucker for old school R&B from the 80/90s. This video was just hilarious to me at least

Is it in the I'mOnABoatIverse?

Actually, I like the idea that they HAD a joke song that they wanted to do but never got to because of his digression. Throw it in as a b-side.

I cannot believe I am about to write this, but I don't mind Michael Bolton, infact I like him in this song and err his vocals really make the track, props for him taking the mick out of himself...

yeah i thought that was the gag too. this generic-ass tough-guy club song with michael bolton digressions. i actually appreciate just how generic and crappy the main song is. LI only bothers me when they go way over the top instead of focusing on developing a good gag, and they did a good job of reining that in here though i would have liked to see just a couple more gag parts, and i wouldn't have minded if they just made bolton of PotC freak, b/c i find that funnier than him just being a "cinephile"

Michael Bolton made me a fan!

IMO, these songs can stand without the videos. I always had this crazy imagination of how "Like A Boss" would be on video. Then when they finally released it, it was a let down.

This was so damn funny I literally spit my drink out. That just doesn't happen!

Seriously though <3 Bolton in this vid and song.

Yeah, the same reason why I don't want to see a "Turtleneck & Chain" video. If it wasn't from a 'joke rap group,' it would be a serious rap song with some funny bits in it. I picture dudes standing in front of cars with 20" rims and white t-shirts looking at dudes with video b*tches in turtlenecks.

Still, Michael Bolton on Jack Sparrow = win.

How can so many people not realize the club parts are supposed to be attempts at being hard and are supposed to sound somewhat lame and generic?! It was done intentionally! The whole point is the amazing Michael Bolton hooks

"THIS IS THE TALE, OF TONY MONTAÑA!"

Wait, people actually don't get that? If so, alot of comedy most go right over people's heads.

It's like people who don't get The Creep is a perfect Dirty South dance trend song about being a sex offender.

Song is hilarious. Love it when the lonely island guys are like "Nope. Wrong." when Bolton doesnt follow what they want him to say. It's so well done. Also - Bolton makes a fantastic pacino!
