New Mass Effect 4 concept art

I'm ok with this.

I'm more interested in how the story develops, not in the general theme of the game.

The general theme of a story is probably one of the most important parts of creating a story, duh. The reason people hate Mass Effect 3's ending is because the theme was broken when it suddently became "Organics vs Synthetics" at the final 10 minutes with almost no buildup, until they added Extended Cut and Leviathan (too little, too late, and stil detracted from what was really ME3's central theme IMO!)

Concept art is nice.

Now show me something that has more substance to the actual game.

Well they have shown in engine prototype footage from E3 and armor renders, the Mako open world demo, and a bunch of art.

Wildly though, they still haven't done an announcement trailer. Not even a teaser. It is just confirmed to be in development, but I guess it doesn't have a final title or close enough date to do an announcement teaser. Uncharted 4 was teased without its title though, but EA in this case has just chosen to quietly acknowledge that there is a sequel in development.

I'm sorry. Perhaps I wasn't clear enough. It's not that the general theme is not important. It's just that I'd rather pay attention to the development of the story. If it's something done right, it's good for me.

A general theme, alone, doesn't mean anything. There're many other variables to look at when you are experiencing a story, at least for me. I'm pretty open minded when it comes to things like this.

Looks like we're actually going to get Mass Effect 2 since none of that really seems fitting for a linear shooter.. This is amazing.

Being N7 day and all I was hoping for an announcement of a remastered version of the Mass Effect trilogy. Bioware, you can PM me with that announcement if you like :-) this concept art will do, though. I guess.

Where is the diversity of colors at? Lots of blue and black with tiny bit of an occasional green.

Mako and unexplored worlds are really good though.

Is that organics vs synthetics thing real or is it just completely unfounded?

You don't like cover in your games?

Have a decent feeling these worlds/environments are going to be hugemongously big.

Just more variety in encounters that isn't chest high wall cover shooting ad infinitium at every location. Special abilities didn't make it up for it.

I am keeping my hype suppressed. I'm controlling myself and reserving my hype for the next two weeks until DAI comes out and I will keep my inner ME super fan level as low as possible so I don't have a stroke following it until the game actually comes out.

So it could end up taking place at the same time. That would be interesting.

That could be interesting.

"Hey, did the Milky Way just blow up?"
"Who cares, there's nothing intelligent up there. The smartest lifeforms were eating flies last we checked"
"You're right. Wanna get back to killing off the last of the biotics?"
"Sure".

this is sad, if concept art is the only thing they are showing it means it will be a long time before we play the game

Gotta have that usual ME hate man, otherwise it's not a ME thread.

I don't think it's unfair to have naysayers when it comes to this series. As someone who puts ME2 on his list of all time great games, I am very cognizant of the flaws in this series despite still having hope that it can be great again in the future.

For me, these shots are interesting, but the aesthetics of ME were never where it ran into problems.

Is ME4 using Frostbite?

If so, goodbye awful Unreal quirks. Such an ugly engine that was.

Concepts look pretty much like what you can expect and are hard to get excited over or anything. Though, the second to last one with the ship looks interesting, and I'm hoping the last one is a character displaying his map around him during gameplay.

Yes, it is. All EA games are now mandated to be on Frostbite.
