New Metal Gear Solid 4 screens (SPOIIIILLLLERS)

There are valid reasons not to want a PS3 at the moment that have been mentioned already, can't we just leave it at that without point the finger and shouting "FANBOY!"?

This coming from a PS3 owner.
I think him saying it will hurt to get a PS3 is the issue. That is irrational fanboyism. And why was that shit even being discussed here?

no, there are other haters like you around

Sorry, I'm not a hater and forgive me if I was harsh. I just get "that" vibe. Someone I immediately see and don't like. It doesn't help that he called RE 5 racist and that he spewed a good amount of garbage about GTA IV. I've tried to like him to no avail. He puts a pretty good spin on a lot of what he says.

Keighley on the other hand seems like a genuine gamer who just happens to work doing what he loves. If he's not your cup of tea that's fine, but I like how he asks questions instead of asking them to get a specific answer. It's good ol' analysis. 'Could this be it....what about this.....and that?' And when he's asked his thoughts on things, he just doesn't lay out an opinion and expect you to love it. It's well founded and reasoned out quite well.

If you like N'Gai that's fine, I don't. I was just asking if anyone else feels the same.

P.S. Blade Runner is one of the best movies ever. Maybe not in the sense of a traditional narrative, but everyone has been influenced by it one way or another.

:/

I like both Keighley and N'Gai, and I'm curious as to why you're getting "that" vibe. Usually "that" vibe tends to reflect on your own psychological intricacies, suggesting that the trigger may be caused by either something within yourself, or merely your preconceived notion of who N'Gai is and what he's like, created by one's personal experience or assumptions, and perhaps even influenced by his presentation and way of speech.

Haha, I don't think it's that supernatural. I just think he's brash in his opinions, unfounded in some of the things that he says, and leaves little room for correction.

This girl(?) likes a little bit of modesty.

he didn't call RE5 racist. He said that there was imagery in the RE5 trailer that could be construed as racist. His issue is more nuanced than you make it out to be.

Disagree with him all you want, but you can't say he doesn't offer some interesting perspective on the industry. Read his article about Gerstmann's termination and tell me if he's still an 'assclown'.

Really, that's not the impression I get when I listen to N'Gai, whether its on the bonus round, or on 1up yours. In light of learning that he didn't start getting into gaming until 1997 or so made so much sense as to why he talks the way he does when talking about gaming. I don't think he's really brash in his opinions, or at least not so much when compared to other gaming journos in particular, but I think that when he talks, he's certainly allowed to make statements that express his own personal opinion based on what he thinks, don't you agree?

seriously, he's better known and respected for his writing, or are you simply stating your opinion based on hearsay and podcasts?

He is a bit commanding, but he is a great writer. He visits here, so maybe you will get a retort from the man himself.

Haha, is it too late to have an opinion? If so, I contract. I guess I'll look at some of his other interviews, if it would please the forum. Maybe I'll like him more then? I have read a lot of his articles and seen a lot of his interviews, but like I said, it just grinds against me.

You guys are making it out to sound like I hate the guy and want to challenge him to have a go in the parking lot. I really don't. Just don't care for his opinions. I definitely have respect for him and in the end he's a game journalist and I'm not.

Anyway, lets get back to how MGS4 is going to be like "oMgZ...so awesome".

Nope, too late. Get out. :p

Believe what you want. Plenty of others agree with you. There was a thread about N'Gai and his mannerisms some time back.

aw snap watching the "theatrical trailer" again I noticed what seems to be a SPOILORZ:

Snake's octocamo suit is ripped. Seems electrocuted.
If you go through the hi res version of the theatrical trailer frame-by-frame you see so many interesting things, not necessarily spoilers, but cool stuff you'd miss just watching it passively.

ha, nah, its just that what you're talking about doesn't really trigger for me. His mannerisms are more or less on par with several other gaming journalists that talk in their own podcasts or whatnot. If anything, the guy comes off as being less fanboyish, but more high-brow than people like.

I also prefer Keighly to Croal as a game journalist. Keighly is not only a great game interviewer, but a great interviewer in general. He always asks the questions that I want answered, even if he has to push a little (or a lot) to get them.

Financially I am in no position to be splashing out on a PS3, but it's pretty inevitable that I will stumble upon some spoilers, and I'd never be able to forgive myself for it. I also can't imagine not playing an MGS game at launch.

Oh, whatever should I do?
I'd recommend scouring craigslist and eBay for a cheap PS3. You can buy it, play MGS4, and then sell it if you need that money back. Otherwise just buy a 40GB and then get a refund after you're finished with MGS4. This is all assuming you won't be needing to keep the PS3 after MGS4.

.
You could go to a Rent-A-Center or somewhere else that rents consoles. Just rent a ps3 and mgs4 for a week so you can experience it at least once without it being spoiled.

walmart 6/1-6/7 $100 gift card with purchase of the 40gigger. if this deal is really true. gift card pays for the game and money left in your pocket. for anyone who has a 360 and no ps3 this is the way to go. bluray,mgs4,lbp,r2,and kz2. not need for a 80gig, add hard drive space later if needed.

for anyone who doesn't have a 360 or ps3. all you need is PC that plays games and a ps3.
360 is really only a (PC in a box).so 95%of the xbox exclusives are or will be on the PC.

this.

I know one "hardcore mgs fan" who's going to buy a ps3 from costco the day mgs4 comes out, beat the game, and return it.

Oh wow.

In other news, I've had a TON of questions on that MGS4 bundle at work. At least 5-6 alone today D:

good to see some hype, and at least it takes away from the Wii questions, right? D:

I'm sorry, but.. WAH?!
Hi res version of the trailer? WHERE?! All I've seen so far is SD versions :(

Wii is an in-stock item at my store. XD

But yeah, lot of people asking about the game now as it gets closer~
I just wish we could preorder those systems.

go back a few pages, someone uploaded it to rapidshare or something, after it got password locked on the konami website. Its actually not very big in terms of resolution, but at least its detailed.

Just watched the Courage is Solid trailer - the first for this game that I've watched the whole way through - and I'm a bit impressed.

Can someone help me out with a link to the best (most exciting, that is) gameplay footage that we've seen so far ?

In the theatrical trailer where Snake asks Naomi how long he has to live, there's a guy without a shirt on in the background. You can only see his back. Who is that? Pause it at 1:06.

You can easily take a guess considering who asked the question and that Naomi is crying.

Jason's Ultimatum said:
It's Snake isn't it? The guy isn't behind her when Snake taps her on the shoulder, then there's a fast cut and Snake isn't next to her anymore. I assume Snake is asking for a physical check, and she upset by the results.

Raiden is only spine and head.

No. There's a guy in the background behind Naomi when Snake grabs her. He has white long hair, and he's not wearing a shirt. You can only see the back of him. I'm telling, you, pause it at 1:06.

EDIT-Damn, I think it's just a quick edit. Has nothing to do with Snake talking to Naomi abaout how long he has. It's just another scene with Snake without his suit on. :lol

Yeah, you're right.

No, you can not see the shirtless man when Snake is on the screen, and you can not see Snake when the shirtless man is on the screen.

Snake is talking to Naomi, then Snake is topless behind Naomi as she cries.

The scene where she's crying seems to be from a different cutscene (not the same one where he turns her around). It may be Snake himself (body looks old).

Yea theres quite a few things I missed watching it the first time. After watching the HD trailer a couple more times I noticed
the crazy 3 arm ball looking thingers, lord only knows what they are but I think I remember seeing something like that in the PMC commercials that were on GameTrailers

I was going to grab a screen of it but anyone with the trailer can see it anyway. Just goto the 2:00-2:01 part of the trailer to see for yourself.

Delving even deeper into that:
At 1:53 you'll notice there's a set of those rolling ball things sort of "docked" on the back of the Gekkou ready to be deployed.

And about EVA and Old Snake's meeting:
For a split second at 2:03, you can see Snake riding on the back of EVA's motorcycle shooting at enemies sort of like a redo of the Shagohad chase at the end of MGS3.

Yea no way they look exactly the same! nice observation.

It's been a while since I looked at pics of the Beauty and the Beast Unit.
