I'm fearful about the spoilers coming from the guide, but I'm confident the official thread will keep most things in control and be good fun. There's nothing else to do while my hype level for this game is on max.

Apart from getting all my uni work done since it's crunch time for the next few weeks. :(

I can never say this enough: I'm so freaking glad I finished my honours degree last year. Dealing with Morrowind and Football Manager addiction during my course was one thing, but MGS4 is different beast altogether.

So it seems each area/country is controlled by a different PMC and they each have their own Beast, most likely acting as the boss for that level. as they're all really owned by Outer Heaven it makes sense that they could divide the unit up like that.

Raven Sword has Raging Raven.

Pieuvre Armement has Laughing Octopus.

Werewolf has Crying Wolf.

Praying Mantis has Screaming Mantis.

So who does Otselotovaya Khvatka have? Maybe they're not with Ocelot.

-Rose is a psychological counselor with a combat stress platoon. You can call her for psychological advice in the game.

- The three places they went to for research were Peru, Morocco, and Prague. (I remember studying the KP Passport vids so hard trying to figure out those locations! I figured out Morocco.)

- Sunny has a stutter.

- The Foley recordings lasted 100 days. Some of the mixing was done at Skywalker Ranch by Chris Boyes.

- For the motion capture, cutscenes that allow you to move the camera were done in one take, which lasted over 10 minutes in some cases. Also, some characters had separate actors for action and story sequences.

- Facial animation was done by taking photographs of the actors then having animators do it by hand. They tried facial capture at one point but it wasn't always accurate.

Could someone please fill me in on the Sorrows story in MGS3? I completed it at launch but i havnt played the game until now. i have reached GG and thats about it, i don't know how much more il get to play before MGS4. So just the Sorrows story in MGS3 and how that relates to MGS4.

Oh shit! Wow, respect for MGS mythology +1000.

I am a giant MGS fan, but I have never able to look at the series the same way since
the first liquid ocelot scene in mgs2
. It was just something I couldn't get over. I just finished played through Snake Eater again and I never picked up on
the sorrow connection regarding liquid.
They really did a great job of including that without making it feel like a retcon.

MGS3 proved a great deal of purpose in the grand scheme of things.

The Sorrow
used his spirit medium gift to talk to dead soldiers during world war 2, to gain intel amongst other things. Ofcourse, Ocelot does not know that The Sorrow is his father, so ofcourse he doesn't know why Liquids arm is taking over Ocelot. Perhaps he may find out in MGS4. Even though realistically, it doesn't make sense (in terms of real world), but then an explanation has been presented and it has become as plausable as Psycho Mantis.

So there you go.

I did not know either, despite having played MGS3. I wish I could replay the series before MGS4 comes out, but no time at the moment. :(
Liquid Ocelot was one of the most "WTF? This is kinda stupid" things in the MGS series for me, so
I'm happy that there's a bit of an explanation around it.

She could have just been an infant in 78 or 79?? Doesn't make her 40 or 50!!
 
I guess if she was a baby during Rhodesia, she could've been roughly 25 during Shadow Moses and therefore roughly 35 in MGS4

That's far from 50
 
MGS tells us that she was a child during the Rhodesian Civil War, a war which was waged between 1964 and 1979 and that Frank Hunter "took her away" from the war, which implies it was still being fought at the time. Until Kojima gives an exact date, it can easily be assumed that she's 40-50 years old.

If she was 5 years old when the Civil War ended in 1979 then she'd be 40 years old in MGS4.

If she was born on the year it started, then she'd be 50.
