New NBA Live demo means new batch of glitch vids

loooool

Need some hard8times on this.

It's easy to go in on LIVE and EA because well they brought it on themselves.

However, there are some unfair misconceptions being thrown around here.

1. The Player faces thing, many if not all of the Rookies face scans are just not in yet and won't be until the day 1 patch. Its funny but it will not always be the case.

2. On that note, many of these glitches will also be patched out. Day 1. Also the Beal glitch has happened in every 2k for a while now.

3. The game is better. There are actual improvements for once. I thought the last one was really really awful but for the first time, they have a legit playable game on their hands with some neat features.

It's still a ways off from 2k, who despite many of their own bullshit, has a core game with a lot of bells and whistles that really add to the game moreso when you notice they are gone. Live is still missing some basic and crucial features (like player editing and sliders) that are inexcusable to not be present. Sports games very rarely have ratings and sliders correct (2k is the king of fcking this up for example) so not having that in is a legit dealbreaker. It also seems to be too easy to hit 3s.

They have the core now, a little polishing and making it more responsive and making sure all of the basic ass features it is missing are in and then some of those little extras that go unoticed by casuals and they finally have a game worth buying. Of course, I fully expect EA to fire everyone again and start from scratch with some gimmick bullshit...again, when it doesn't sell well.

Well, now we know where Kevin Love picked it up from:

Their AI has a lot to be desired if that hardest difficulty video earlier in the thread is at all indicative of the retail version. The bad defensive AI, no shot fatigue, and insanely high % for contested deep 3s may be accentuated by using someone like Curry, but I can potentially see people cheesing the system with any decent 3 point shooter.

2. On that note, many of these glitches will also be patched out. Day 1. Also the Beal glitch has happened in every 2k for a while now.

If that's the case then why did the game with the Bynum Jesus glitch get cancelled? The glitches in this demo appear to be just as bad, if not worse. The Kevin Love free throw is as equally egregious to Bynum to me. And the Steph Curry with 123 points is hilarious.

JR just can't let anyone out fuckball him.
This is hilarious. Look at how the other Cavs player slides towards JR after he shoots.

I want to play a fantasy NBA game like that. Give them super powers and let them all fly and slide and stretch around the court. Would be so much more fun than sim basketball.

I played a bit of the demo. Even without any weird glitches this is not a good feeling basketball game. Everything on the court feels disconnected.

I said that 3s are currently too good and without sliders it is a hard fix. But the core game is there..

as for cheesers, they will always find a way. 2k will probably have something new this year now that the zig zag stuff is fixed. That is just online sports games period.

I'm not even saying it is a good game but to act like it is still last years game is a bit unfair. They have a lot of work left to do but for once I see that they have something worth working with instead of needing to scrap everything again.

Live 10 was a competitor when they had Wang for that year. Then Wang left and they went back down hill. Even worse with that Elite crap.

Watch the ref at halfcourt in the JR Smith free throw video. I'm crying.

If the shipped game turns out like this EA needs to stop and work on their gameplay engines and what not for a few years, heck maybe even not come back till the start of next gen.

In the meantime, if they want to release NBA licensed games. Try to bring back NBA Street or something (less Homecourt more Vol 2 in terms of gameplay). Won't be a direct competitor to 2K and could take off since it's been a while.

I understand the hate for live but what I don't understand is the love for 2k. 2k fans act like 2k is perfect. To me both basketball are trash, same crap I tell my friend I don't care if you think 2k is better than live because both of them are garbage basketball games, going from one garbage to another. I have more experience with the 2k series and that game is full of tons and tons of damn bugs and glitches on the court and especially on the shitty my career cutscenes, everything on 2k always feels tacked on and incomplete with all the damn bugs. I don't know how there are fans for any of these damn ball games.

2K is consistently ok. The core gameplay never really changed much after 2K11, which really blew the series up with the Jordan challenge and the classic teams.

NBA Live crashing and burning the way it did made the love for 2K grow to what it is today. Today the games look incredible and the presentation is great, and it's a fun co-op game that my friends and I all know how to play. That's why I buy it. I simply have no interest in checking out NBA Live as long as 2K is around.

The Curry animation is hilarious but for some reason CP3 passing to Bogut's shoulder made me laugh way more.

2k gets love because it's the only good choice available, and even most of the fans of the series will admit it has a ton of issues. But it's far from garbage. Bugs and glitches happen (and will probably always happen, I've never seen a sports game without any glitches). If anything though all of 2k's major issues have nothing to do with broken content, most of the stuff I've seen has been minor or just humorous, the bigger problems are just straight up gameplay design choices that either don't work or are frustrating to deal with.

It's not perfect, never will be, but unless you want an arcade-style game it's the best basketball series available right now so it's love is to be expected. People are much more willing to overlook imperfections when there is no better alternative out there.

It's still quite a ways off from competing with 2k but compared to Live 14...........it's better.

They have a core that's fun at times and that a massive improvement. I give it 3-5 years until it's somewhat of a competitor to 2k.

Then again Jesus Bynum could happen at any moment.

Still, these glitches are hilarious and I know the rookie faces will be patched but Damn lol.

The demo is actually quite good.

It has a lot of interesting features... e.g.

1. option for shooting to be all timing based, stat based, or both

2. you can see the % chance to make each shot, or freethrow, right when you shoot

3. while on defense the game points you, without obstructing the view, to the opponent you are defending

4. there is an indicator on defense as to how much or how little you are "covering" a player to make their shot difficult

Overall the animations feel quite good, and the game moves quite responsively. One of the criticisms currently levelled at the 2K series is that the gameplay is too "sticky" from what I remember, as it is not as responsive. Live comparatively feels more fluid, maybe a little too much with some animations which may be uninterruptible, but overall it really does feel quite nice.

Also the graphics, at least in a technical sense, are considerably better than 2K.

I suggest people try out the demo themselves, played the PS4 version and it was surprisingly well done. Reminds me a lot of Live 2004 or 2005, and feels much better than the ice skating that plagued the series for a while. Hopefully the further iron out bugs, though I didn't notice any while playing the game myself.

I'm personally going for NBA 2K16 (Raptors 1999 team... I can't pass that up, sorry Live), but really based on the demo this seems to be a pretty good return to form for the Live series. I hope they continue to improve, because the NBA 2K series really needs more competition.

A few things you mentioned in your posts were featured in 2K for years so for NBA Live to finally have them, I guess it's good but they will need a lot more if they wanna get a purchase out of me, since none of this makes it closer to playing like a authentic basketball imo.

Also, what so you mean by graphics being considerably better in the technical sense? I just don't see it. I think the game doesn't look that hot actually based on the demo I've played, even though I felt most the marketing screens released were nice.

Not just basketball, every sport but soccer needs a reboot by EA. Madden is a broken rubberbanding ai game. Nhl is just a floaty piece of shit compared to last gen, and this Live demo feels and plays like crap, even compared to the stale 2k series.

But people still buy the garbage so we'll continue to get garbage :/

Also put them back on pc please

I things that were either old or flat out wrong in bold. Feels more fluid and quite nice is very wrong. Graphics being better is very wrong especially in gameplay. It is downright terrible in my opinion. Demo being a good return to form is also quite wrong. It's not only a poor basketball game, it's a poor game in general. It's a game that caters to the lowest skill levels with no attempts to accurately replicate the sport. Yes I played the demo and I deleted it after 20 mins. It was hot garbage.

There is no truth to this.

Accurate player models.
Accurate court spacing.
Accurate play calling.
Accurate ball movement and man movement.
Accurate individual crossovers.

The game has wonky animation here and there. But if you have above avg IQ when it comes to NBA Baskeball, and not just a ability to play 2K. You can clearly see all the good things Live 16 has to offer.

And I didn't even mention how fun and challenging Summer Circuit is.

Also, the game clearly shows you who to guard without impeding the visuals. So I dunno why you bolded 3. It's just a line on the court.

I was a big fan of NBA Live in 2003/2004, it was a great game. Than 2010 was a good year to and from that time this game is a big piece of shit. I don't know how da fuck is EA releasing this. I played the demo of Live 16 and I deleted it after just one quarter. Plz stop EAS, this a shame for the whole industry and for me this is the worst sports game of all time.

I don't know man.
If you can score 120+ pts on Superstar mode, how can anything be accurate?
