It's mind-boggling to me how much better than the 3DS the Vita looked in 2011 when they launched and how that's been dead for years and the 3DS line is still selling.

Not that graphics make a game, but how this ancient tech still moves units.

The only thing that's weird about this announcement (since it's on the level of like the gameboy Micro in a way.) is the timing of this announcement. Only about 2 months after the Switch does look...odd.

why? switch cost twice as much and is less portable than a 3ds. plus I am sure the 2ds has a better battery life.

can you imagine being a kid and losing the portable part of the switch or getting it stolen? heartbreak soup

I didn't expect this to pop up on my subscription feed, but I like the design of it compared to the ugly original 2DS.

This is pretty much the phase where Nintendo sells out the cheapest models possible at the near-end of the line like the Game Boy Micro, DSi XL, and Wii Mini(?).

I give zero fucks about Mario Kart compared to other franchises like Animal Crossing, Pokémon, Fire Emblem. I like it, but it's not a dealbreaker to me.

This thing probably costs them $50 to make but to offset the high cost of the Switch they've priced it at $150.

No way, the price is quite bad. I mean I bought my 3ds xl almost 4 years ago for 150 Canadian. This should be 120 imo, ideally even $99 and drop the price of the 2ds. I also got a 2ds refurbished for $70 Canadian last year before moon.

Huh. This came out of the blue. I do find it odd that Nintendo removed the 2DS's best feature: the slab design. I bought my daughter a 2DS over a New 3DS as the hinge is a liability.
