New ourcolony pic - glimpse of another game?

Take Two/DMA would be taking a huge risk in doing that though.

If PS3 does become the no.1 platform even in the US (very possible), then DMA has tied themselves to the no.2 console, and it opens the door to some other developer making a "crime series" that eclipses GTA because its availible to more people (multiplatform or PS3 only or whatever).

Do you know the new CEO of sony or something. I can't recall you commenting on a game. All I see is Sony = Domination, Xbox 360 is Dreamcast 2 and other variations of those phrases. Play games, not consoles.

my hat is in for MGS 4 xbox 360 exclusive.

Konami hasn't been too fond of the XBox. My money is some huge deal with a company that had some XBox success, like Ubi (though what would count as megaton from them I don't know), or has not touched it at all, like Square. Heck, maybe it's not even a game, but the price or something.

Man, I suck as speculating.

well, guess i'm already wrong then :lol

i never guess right on this kinda crap :lol

ok, well, i'll say something from square/enix then. sooooo... i'll throw my flamed up burnt up sad hat in on chrono trigger then i suppose.

Konami can keep there shit on the PS3, that is unless they want to fix the god awful camera.

I honestly dont think any announcement is going to be as huge as squeenix making xbox games. All i want is whats best for me.

Recent evidence suggest that having Konami, Tecmo or Capcom won't make a big difference. Metal Gear Solid woudn't be a megaton level event, in my opinion - Metal Geal Solid 3 release was surprisingly mute. Same goes for Resident Evil 4.

I'm not sure about the impact of SquareEnix - it could be gigantic in Japan and result indirectly in better support, but in the West and outside the group of hardcore gamers, it doesn't matter so much.

Namco would be quite big - having three extremely strong franchises - Ridge Racer, Tekken and Soul Calibur.

The biggest spectacles receently have been Halo 2, Half-Life 2, GTA San Andreas, Need for Speed Underground 2 and Burnout 3. Out of those franchises, Microsoft has Halo exclusive and shouldn't have trouble getting Valve games. EA games won't be exclusive any way, which leaves us with GTA San Andreas.

Getting next-gen GTA exclusive, in my opinion, would allow Microsoft truly dominate in the West, both Europe and America. It would then have all of the top-selling franchises, many of them exclusive.

This, in turn, would force the Japanese publishers and developers take Xbox 360 seriously, as the struggling Japan market won't support them. A Japanese producer friend of mine said "Japan - it is very bad market situation, very depressed. Very bad."

I'm sticking with my 2004 prediction that Microsoft will rock this generation - I'd would go as far as predicting a 35-40% marketshare.

So, are you saying that getting the next gen GTA EXCLUSIVE would be MEGATON WORTHY? Or am I off the mark?

That would be Megaton worthy. :D

It may even force me to break my "Playstation 3 will be my first next gen console" stance.

From what looks like to be the same exact location in-game, but seen from a different angle:

Props to Frolet @ OA for the find.

thats nothing.

watch that gametrailers movie. there are scenes where she is running through grassy areas that use the exact same flower textures as the I pic.

If GTA is a next gen winner, can we say Halo 3 is too given it's relative success?

I don't think there is a "magic bullet" killer game to be quite honest anymore , although getting certain games (GTA definitely being one of them) will definitely help.

Also - developer folks, what are the odds of having a PS3 designs shown or PS3 cell hardware at E3 (i guess games running of Cell workstations would do ... as long as it's not involving any cubes ;) )?

Not sure. I'm not sure if it's quite as mainstream and "casual" as GTA is (sales aside). They appeal to different audiences I think. Of course, from a credibility point of view it's still very valuable.

I ain't a developer, but I imagine if do indeed show stuff running of hardware (and not just videos), they'd use the latest dev kits or more advanced prototype hardware if they have it.

In that particular shot it looks like an Xbox game, but I absolutley loved Kameo at E3 last year and aprove whatever it looks like.

Even looking at the E3 trailer showing the same scene, the trees in the colony pic seem thicker and more gnarled, and the grass looks a lot denser with smaller blades.

If this is representative of the next gen kickoff, I'm either disappointed or blind - I'm not seeing:

4xFSAA
Depth of field
Selfshadowing
HDR
Normal mapping

Dunno if all of those were supposed to be standard in next-gen, but something I was hoping for anyway. Judging that pic only, one would think that HD Era is only about higher res textures and a moderately higher polygon count.

These pics are rewards for the latest challenge. If you people would stop moaning for just a sec and help with it, we could get a different one.

And i really doubt that this is kameo, because Kameo on Xbox looked better...
Kameo looked better on Gamecube. So perhaps as Kameo moves from one console to a more powerful one and so on, it gets uglier.

Those will likely be standard (not required by MS of course, but standard). If they're not enabled yet, it's probably because they're still using Alpha hardware.

Or because that's an Xbox1 pic of old Kameo build.

Or becuase the porting didn't leave time for making everything bumpmapped and making the engine take optimal use out of the hardware...?

Or better yet: becuase we are seeing but 25% of the entire picture. :)

Don't forget, ths cycle, like any onther one, will have it's share of first, second and etc. generations. They can't all be stunning from the start.

Porting didn't leave time?? :lol :lol

sorry, not laughing at you at all, but that sentence, as in the context of Rare and this game, it isn't exactly like they would have been rushed to market.

I buy Datawhore's explanation. Makes you wonder, however, if everybody is using still the Alpha kits without those features, are we all set up for disappointment in E3, with games looking only half as good as they could? Wasn't this exactly what happened in E3 2001 with Xbox?

Pics of Halo looked absolutely freaking retarded in comparison to the final build.
I think Kobold is pretty close to having the right guess in this aspect.
