New Pokemon Sun and Moon Trailer!

So as long as a Pokemon learns a move of a certain type, even if the move sucks, it should grant them access to the Z-move. I'm curious whether this extends to status moves as well. What if something as simple as Sand Attack allows access to the Ground type Z-move?
If it does extend to status moves it will be a much bigger deal

The web implies that there are more than one trial in each island, but doesn't seem to say that there are more than four leaders. If there truly are 4 leaders for each island, one for each trial, it would mean that we would get 16 different leaders.

But again, Mallow's trial seems to consist in collecting some berries and Kiawe to solve a puzzle, and I doubt they designed these four characters for these minor interactions.

So his tail absorbed some hideous hybrid of a pianta and a noki from Mario Sunshine?

wait they have different stats? movesets i get but stats? i really do need to question why they aren't new pokemon

Yeah, I imagine they'd have different stats because, on the official website, it mentions that Ice Sandshrew/Sandslash are slower than their normal versions, but it seems like its defenses are higher.

Haven't read the entire thread, but I hope nobody complains about this... For all the whining about the original Pokemon this is an interesting compromise.

Quite a few people are complaining about them, including me as they could have easily been cross gen evolution but no Game Freak opted for the quick and lazy route by redesigning old Pokémon.

WE NEEED THE YOKAI WATCH AUDIENCE

Yeah that worries me as it feels like that Game Freak are changing up the game to make it more like Yo-Kai Watch rather then be its own thing.

I wonder how Ice Vulpix evolves into Ninetails.

Probably with a fire stone, they are still the same Pokémon.

Are they really going to treat them as new Pokemon?

Of course not, they will have the same Pokédex entry and numbering as the real version and just be shoved in the form section.

The new forms are cool, the Vulpix and Sandshrew lines have always been favorites of mine so it's nice to see them get some love. Interested in seeing what other Pokemon they decide to give new forms. Would be lame if it was just limited to gen 1, but I also wouldn't be surprised. I like the grass mantis and dancing birds too.

so basically we could have

alola forms being gen 1 only

gen 1 original form pokemon being locked to transfer from bank

but what about a gen 1 remake to more easily get the regular forms to Gen VII games.

all of the leaked and all of the revealed Alola form pokemon have been Gen 1. Is it possible this is Gen 1 only?

I think the possibility definitely exists. I think they would remake Gen 1 for the 3DS before they would remake Gen 4.

Same I REALLY want another gen 1 remake now. I don't feel that the gen 4 games need to be remade already. Then we'll have every gen on the DS/3DS family.

It's almost as if a competitor is making them improve themselves!

...So I looked at its height and Alolan Exeggutor is the 3rd tallest pokémon in the game, losing only by a narrow margin to Mega Rayquaza.

I've reached this point too. I used to be in that party of always wanting more more more, but now I realize we have way too many and I'd love for them to remix what we got and add nuance that way. More isn't better when it devalues the worth of existing Pokemon by constantly adding more
How in God's name does it devalue old Pokemon, that doesn't even make sense.

Shit the only thing that could be considered devaluing is giving old Pokemon better forms, making the original one inferior.

Fantastic idea, now I want this

Think its only a matter of time honestly.

Also, what are the chances of starters receiving the variant treatment? How dope would it be to visit Kalos after Alola to sort out Zygarde, hit Prof. Sycamore's lab for him to give you a choice of a water Charmander, fire Bulbasaur, or grass Squirtle instead of the orginal types?

Ugh, please no. Kanto has had time to shine in 4 different Gens and the Kanto region is boring compared to other regions imo.

Like someone explained it's basically like the different variants of the same animal that evolved under different conditions which is pretty damn cool to me.

Despite Gen 4 being my favourite, and Gen 1 being my least, I can see this happening. Mostly to have Kanto within the new timeline the series is dabbling in, and to put into practice more variants, such as a Kanto Noctowl for example. And, of course, to bank in on Go! hype. I hope gen 4 gets remade down the line though, I love Sinnoh.

Sandslash's info on the site explicitly talks about it loosing speed.

Personally, I have no problem with it- I enjoyed Megas remixing older Pokémon, and this is another step down that path.

um gen 1 is already on 3DS, red, blue and yellow are all on the e shop and will have pokebank functionality later down the line

yeah i get that it just feels like they are going to far with it

like i'm happy to see they are trying new way to make old pokemon interesting again but i don't know

New Ninetails and Sandslash are cool.

Rowlet the only cool starter evolution confirmed. Not even a choice for me, the other two are hot garbage.

I feel like Mew and Mewtwo should be different forms if we have subspecies this diverse. Just give all the forms Pokédex numbers, maybe with decimal points.

You designed a flawed system, Oak! Own up to it and make the proper adjustments you fraud!

If you would've told me that Exeggcutor would be one of my favorite new Pokemon this gen...

I love the Alola form idea. This gen is shaping up to be incredible.

I keep thinking about all the possibilities for Z-Moves that open up if the move they learn to qualify for them don't have to be damaging. Emergency Dragon Bomb on everything that can learn Dragon Dance for one.
