New Scam(OTON X) Automatically Generates Comedy

sounds like a sorting UI that chooses an existing game for you based on the criteria you entered, which is pretty stupid consider you still need the actual games (made by actual studios).

I mean its a scam surely they would make a better pitch video and just try Kickstarter it with a small reachable goal and make a easy 50 grand?

A million dollars in a month? I'm gonna guess satire, because I doubt noone would think a scam like this would work.
 
I want to believe this is a joke. One backer? There are a lot of stupid people in the world, and some of them have money to waste. But just one? Hard to believe...
 
The credit card part of the FAQ is like the kind of verbiage you see on porn sites.

But I am reminded of Adventure Construction Set on the C-64. It was sort of an RPG maker style thing, you could use it to make games like the author had previously released (which were pretty good, one based on Greek Myths and another on 1001 Arabian Nights). But you could also have it procedurally generate adventures. Pick settings and have it come up with one.

Of course, the results were completely random and gibberish, but they were technically adventures. One of the names it would use for a dungeon was "Tesseract Terrace"

I'm a moderator over on the Giant Bomb foums, and we have a similar thread to this one, criticizing the Oton as a scam. A brand new user account "Gamergirl197811" was created and posted this in the thread:

You really should check your facts before you just start talking about something you don't know anything about and from a lot of your comments you don't. I checked their FQA questions on their website and it answered a lot of my questions maybe you should do the same! People are so closed minded that they don't know something is great when it's right in their face! I want something new! I'm going to give these guys a chance! They have my support 100%! Love the design! Go Oton!!!!!

I naturally found this rather suspicious and did a little digging. I posted my findings on that thread:

The IP address from this account is from Oxford, Alabama. And does anyone want to venture a guess where Derrick Samuels, CEO of the company behind Oton is from? Alabama, according to his twitter account. Oh, and his LinkedIn account specifies even more detail - the Anniston, Alabama area. And you know what a Google Map of Anniston, Alabama shows? Oxford is right next to it!!! Literally, less than a mile away.

Now, I wouldn't be one to post accusations or anything, but one could certainly come to some conclusions based on this information. Stay classy, Derrick Samuels!!!

Wow. He even had to use "gamergirl" as his name. I think this is more sad than funny at this point.

That's amazing. He's been quite obviously pulling this stuff on his youtube page, all the positive comments have some generic name with a few numbers and the same horrible grammar mistakes.
 
Built-in laser projector and Kinect to create a holodeck experience, where the player can feel like they are in historical times interacting with famous people...and the entire experience created automatically by the game console. This is gonna be the best damn thing ever, where can I buy stock???

Edit: Check it out, you can buy 10 of the $479 units for $2,390. Who needs stock when I can make that much profit by selling the devices themselves!

and that's why we love our approval process!

anyhow i could even actually believe that this thing generates games in a procedural way... i just expect them to be pretty much all identical gameplay-wise (based on the genre you choose) and resembling those awful game collections from the NES era
