May 7th? Wonder why though? 2 days before E3. I wonder if they are going for a Japanese/USA simultaneous release? I presume its been developed in English at the same time as Japanese due to E3

I think they'd like to save it until Christmas, but it's too big a game for them not to bring over quickly. Everyone will just import it from the US otherwise.

Releasing a huge game for Nintendo during a very important phase in the battle over Western markets and the game hasn't been the highlight or focus of ANY major gaming event. They must be hoping it takes no attention away from Revolution.

On the heels of Valentine's Day romance is in the air, even in the Mushroom Kingdom. But Princess Peach wasn't able to celebrate with her special someone, seeing that she's been taken prisoner by Bowser and Bowser Jr. Only the Mario Bros. can rescue the princess from her evil captors as they battle familiar enemies like Goombas and Koopas along with new foes and big bosses.

New Super Mario Bros. is loaded with features and characters that could only exist in the Mushroom Kingdom, including all-new power-ups like the BlueShell, in which Mario can ride, and a massive Mushroom that makes him ultra-huge. The title features stunning 3-D models moving through lavish, cleverly designed 2-D worlds, culminating in a final showdown for the freedom of Princess Peach.

Then, on June 5, another title launches for Nintendo DS. In MagneticaTM, marbles roll down a twisted path toward the goal and it's up to players to stop them by launching new marbles into the oncoming ones. The marbles will disappear if players match three or more in this massive marble elimination. All actions are controlled with the stylus in this title that satisfies even the strongest puzzle addiction.

it would be awesome if they would put a Nes classic mode in as well, I bought the GBA NES classic to settle my urges for this in the meantime and the "1 credit, no continues" really slapped me in the face at first, but now I love it, so challenging. Would be cool if they would do the same for the new one. (as a mode with a bonus for completing it).

Hopefully it doesn't suffer from Mario vs DonkeyKongs "here is 10000 extra lives" syndrome.

Well, aside from a few select titles here and there like Brain Training, Pokemon Trozei, New Super Mario Bros., and Magnetica, Nintendo of America still hasn't officially released its Q2 Release Schedule. That should be coming pretty soon, I would imagine.

The Q1 schedule had some nice surprises like Tales of Phantasia, Drill Dozer, Odama, Chibi Robo, as well as confirmed dates for Super Princess Peach, True Swing Golf, and so on. The Q2 schedule should be very interesting.

Yeah online would really put their wifi connection stats through the roof. Strangely enough this would be the first title I'm willing to settle for local only. I'm getting a DS lite and I'll probably keep my DS for the missus, she loves mario, so bonus!

Yeah, you're right. It wouldn't really make sense for Nintendo to put its most hyped and biggest name title on the new service that it's trying to heavily promote. At first I thought, "Well, maybe Nintendo's just holding back some pieces of information," but then I looked over at the Mother 3 and Zelda threads and realized that they never do that. So yeah, no Wifi Connection for Mario.
