new Super Mario Galaxy video (GDC)

Because Nintendo is notorious for delaying games for ages to polish them up. Not that there's anything wrong with it, but they do have that reputation. Twilight Princess, anyone?

Hey stupid, the max avatar size is 150k. Change it or be struck down.

Wow, that does look fantastic. I loved the secret stages in Super Mario Sunshine because of their *actual* platforming and this looks like it will have heaps in that regard.

Unreal looking game too.

Mario games offer:

Insane jumps.
Crazy acrobatics.
Holy shit moments.
Level design that rewards creative approaches.

Galaxy looks to combine all those greater then ANY game I've seen. Just watching the video you get the sense the game is about high-flying backflips and ballsy stunts. The waggle implementation from all previous reports was glowing and looks sharp and interesting from what we've seen. Basically, it feels and looks like an expansion on the craziness of past Mario games taken to the next level. Its like the movie 300. Its been done, but not this ridiculously big or awesome.

This is Miyamoto's baby.

Um... yeah. Why not?
Smash Bros. won't make it in 2007.

Nintendo's Wii line-up this year should look something like that:
April - Paper Mario
June - Pokemon Battle Revolution
August - Battalion Wars
September - Mario Strikers, Fire Emblem
Oktober - Mario Galaxy
November - Metroid Prime 3

SSBB in 1Q 2008. No idea about Disaster and Project Hammer though.

The last time I played a game where you could just fly around was freaking TRIBES! Screw Paper, this is the real next gen mario.

wow there is nothing we have seen so far on Wii compared to this, graphically it looks damn right impressive. :)

I don't think Metroid is that big a seller to be Nintendo's big holiday gun.

I think it will be

Metroid- August

Galaxy- October/whenever Halo launches

SSBB- November/December

To compete with LBP, perhaps?
I don't think that LBP is anything that Nintendo needs to compete with. It might be a fun little game but there're much bigger PS3 titles coming at the beginning of 2008. I guess.

Sure it looks nice.

But it does not have 4 player coop and user generted content... And you cannot stick flowers on your head... :D

LBP does not need "competition". It will be a message board darling but is not something needed to "countered" like a GTA 3, Halo 3, Mario Galaxy...etc

Two player co-op would actually work out quite well in MG, imho. One player's Mario, the other Luigi, taking on opposite sides of the same planet. Boss fights would be awesome.

Point taken.

Love your avatar, by the way. Lazenby, ftw.

Resized images that does more justice to actual game.

- Why isn't the music orchestrated?

This looks pretty incredible and fun. The "space" levels of SMS were the best part so I'm looking forward to this.

Also nice to see a game using techniques we know the Wii is capable of, like EMBM and depth-of-field.

Another Sony Bot Trolling here. Awesome.

lol Gahiggidy taken seriously? I'm surprised.
I really want Nintendo to start putting in some kind of budget for thier game's soundtracks.

It may not be a "cinematic" game, but even animated movies have live recordings.

Take it easy on them..yesterday was their first good day in a long time.

that looked awesome but i cant help but wish there was an option to use a regular controller

I don't get that feeling at all. I'm a believer that the Wii remote is the next step controlling games. There's so much you can do with it that wouldn't be possible with a traditional controller.

How does Mario survive in space without a pressurized suit?

From what we have seen so far, it looks like Nintendo might be taking an approach similar to the 2d Marios. Moving on through individual levels on a linear path. I think that would be sort of cool, instead of having a structure that is more like Mario 64 and Sunshine. It would be more of race to the finish in 3d, taking it back to the more classic roots. Even so, I won't mind if it is more like Sunshine and Super Mario 64 than the original 2d games.

Please, don't even start...

He doesnt have to start anything.
Mario Galaxy looks good enough to not to have to hide from X360/PS3-games. Not saying that it´s on par, just saying, it looks great as well as X360/PS3-titles do look great.

Saying that it looks great is one thing.

Going all "HAY GUYS I'D SAY THIS IS ABOUT COMPARABLE WITH KAMEO" is another. Which wasn't said this time, thankfully, but it's hyperbolish enough to state that it looks next-gen.

I agree, now all we need is some new pics of Metroid Prime 3 and more importantly a trailer. SSBB would be th icing on the cake.

If all three are released during the coming fall, it will be fall 2006 all over again.

Excellently surprised, awesome video capture. It looks and plays like a dream, and no, I am not worried about it's gameplay.

His blue and red outfit emits an invisible, pressurized air bubble with a 1m radius outside of his body.

It works amazingly well. Just make sure you don't fart.

Little Big Planet just got ass-raped.

User generated content...pfft, those lazy bastards want me to code their ****in games? Sonovabitch.

Read my words...

August-September -- Super Mario Galaxi
Novembre -- Metroid Prime 3
December -- Super Smash Bros Brawl

You know, I can't help but wonder how SMS ever got released. It's just so completely uninspired compared to this. Some of it could be the Wiimote, but a lot of it just feels like a complete lack of effort and ambition on Nintendo's part during the GC generation.

Isnt mario galaxy made @ the new nintendo Tokyo studios? As in, the guys behind donkey kong jungle beat. New young talent + brand spanking new studios + tokyo (lots of devs there) + NCL's heavy support, you can get this.

Or im wrong and its made by EAD, but i thought that it was the DK:JB devs behind this one.
