If you missed my previous thread for the last trailer, this guy is SUPER legit. He's created a full new game using the original Mario 64 (Star Road 64), as well as created a fully working 2-player mod for that game and a few months ago he released a teaser.

This latest hack (Star Road 2) uses the 3DS Super Mario 3D Land as a base and does more than simply add levels, it completely unlocks the camera and gives 360 degree movement back. This makes the game play more like the Galaxy Games (camera is still too close/focused to say like Sunshine or 64).

I don't think it's out yet, but first you must hack your 3DS if you haven't done so.

If you updated to 11.3 firmware that came out last week and you didn't hack your 3DS, you're sadly out of luck as 11.3 removes all known entry points and exploits.

Work in progress. If Skelux treats this game like he did Mario 64 though, everyone is in for a treat. Not only did he create an awesome full game mod for 64, he released all the tools he made for others to do the same.

I never realized how much I liked the art style of these games. I know it's famous for it, but I never really dug all the rim lighting in Galaxy and this is much more my jive.

It really shows just how sluggish Mario was in that game, no wonder 3D Land didn't jive with me.
Impressive that this was all managed, all the same, and love the Chomp in the background as well as music.

Ah well. No, I don't know anything about hacks and I just update my system whenever it tells me to. Bummer, but it's alright. Thanks for the info.

Star Road was great, I'm excited to see what he does with this. If the quality is as good as the original, I'll probably enjoy this more than vanilla 3DLand.

I imagine we didn't get a 3DS sequel because it would have been somewhat redundent; 3D World is 3DLand 2 in everything but name, and it came out within 2 years of 3D Land's release.

This is why we have The Switch.
