New Tales game to be announced next week

Completely agree, its time for tales to be 2 year event at best. Even the much liked Abyss I found very juvenile and lacking. Its time to add more quality not quantity to this series. Though Wi control scheme game would at least offer something new to it.
I don't believe a new control scheme would add all that much, really. What ideas do you really believe would benefit such a game?

They need to focus on many other aspects instead.

Heres hoping for another ps2 incarnation, with team destiny. cmon 2 in a row!

If it is a team symphonia project, lets hope its not programmed by retarded monkeys this time, regardless of platform.

Um, why would you, of all people, care?

Because things that are pieces of shit are things I want changed, obviously. If they weren't a piece of shit, I would not care.

I can't imagine there's any way this'll be PS3. They want to make money, remember?

I'm guessing DS or PS2...or maybe Wii. Actually Wii would make a lot of sense from a financial perspective, at least.

Namco? money?

Well, considering that they are supporting the PSP and the 360, how is supporting PS3 is considered to more "unlikely"?

Well, actually Tales of the world didn't sell bad, and Tekken DR did sell decently. Yeah, sales weren't "excellent".

360 wise, RR6 bombed(yes I know RR7 sold crap as well) and the idolmolestor barely broke 15K units on its debut week.

Wii is unlikely because of Swords of Legendia. A new Tales announcement at this stage would completely kill any chances of hyping Legendia as it would overshadow it.

Then again judging by your post I think it will be a pretty big surprise ;)

I don't actually know what it is, if that's what you're implying. :) Wish I did, but alas, I find out this stuff the same time you do...

No actually, it's just the opposite.

I was implying that if even you didn't know it, it's gotta be a big surprise :P

Pretty big surprise?

A pretty big surprise would be that thread without the assholes and bitter fanboys back slashing the series no matter they announce. This is an announcement of an announcement and its already full of it.

I guess another surprise would be me not getting banned in that thread :lol

Curse you Namco for eternally screwing Europe. If you want to pump out Tales games, make sure a big segment of the market can play them, dammit.

That's why everyone should hope for a PS3 game. You'll be able to enjoy any version of the game that way. :D

I hope it's either for Xbox 360 or PS3.

I didn't like ToS, TotA on the other side actually was my favorite RPG last year (along with XS3). Haven't played the rest.

I'm leaning towards another DS title. After last year's blunder, either Namco-Bandai will send out one of the "real" Tales teams to make a good "make-up", or they'll be willing to give DIMPS another shot (which would make sense, since they're basically done with Draglade, their other DS project for Banpresto).

Or, of course, it could end up being another PS2 offering. I'm personally hoping that with (Re)Destiny doing decently, as well as Vanillaware stepping up to the plate, that may be all the more reason for Tales Studio to start stepping up their own 2D gameplans.

Doesn't Sony block imports to Europe? Or is that just consoles?

I thought the Tales series had become defined by overshadowing due to new announcements?

Yeah, but Swords is the start of a brand new Wii franchise. You don't want to **** that up.

Just consoles.

This news is kind of interesting. I doubt it will go to DS, based on how Tales of the Tempest performed (Tales of the World: RM has already outsold it I believe). I'm going to bet it will be on PS3, if its next gen. If its not next gen, I won't be surprised if it ends up on PSP, since Namco seems to want to place Tales fans on PSP (PSP is getting a 4th Tales game, and they've done pretty good, so I won't be surprised if more come).

Why isn't there any feedback on the trademarks?

商願2006-108290 Tales of Innocence
商願2006-108291 Tales of the Innocent
商願2006-108292 Tales of the Manes

I remember everyone agreed The Tempest was the best of the last bunch. This one seems harder :lol

What the hell is Manes? :lol Not weird names please.

Tales of the Innocent sounds like a joke for April 1st...so I guess I'll have to go with Tales of Innocence although it sounds terrible, its like saying 'HEY TEAM SYMPHONIA IS BACK WITH GREAT THEMES, THIS TIME HOW INNOCENT ARE THE 2-YEAR-OLD PROTAGONISTS'.

I don't even know where this series is going. Honestly, I lost track after the very first Tales, and only cared again when Symphonia came out.

I'm at the point where I'm so confused by all the different games that I just give up on getting into the series at all.

Oh man! This is great news. There hasn't been a Tales game released in years! I was afraid Namco had forgotten about the franchise. :(

Tales of the Manes sounds stupid. Tales of the Innocent rolls off the tongue better than Tales of Innocense, but I don't like "the" in my Tales names =(

- Port 1 for PSP
- Port 2 for PSP
- SoL for Wii
- New Tales for PS3/360 (OH SNAP! dark10x am cry)

It's like Namco is trying to beat the yaoi doujinshi market to the punch.

Why would he cry when he owns both?

Edit: I'm not a Tales fan, but do these games actually sell well in Japan?
Because he hates multi-platform titles. And yes they do sell well in Japan.

Ok, I'm having a blast here after reading Wikipedia on 'Manes' :lol

In Roman mythology, the Manes were the souls of deceased loved ones. As minor spirits, they were similar to the Lares, Genii and Di Penates. They were honored during the Parentalia and Feralia in February.

The Manes were also called the Di Manes (Di meaning "Gods"), and Roman tombstones often included the letters D.M., which stood for dis manibus, or "dedicated to the Manes-gods". The word was also used as a metaphor to refer to the underworld.
Come on, honored during two things ending in IA, in February of the 12 months and mentioning a 2nd world :lol

That's just...wow :lol ...with the wikipedia entry alone they have a complete concept of the story and the world(s)!
Script writing for lazy people -> searching stuff on wikipedia-> dimps as developer confirmed, game formerly known as Tales of Doom Sign.

Personally I hope it's just information on Sword of Legendia and they confirm a real Tales for Wii a few months after SoLs release.
But on the other hand I'm really interested in what a Team Symphonia- Tales would look like on 360/ps3...hmm

WTF ARE YOU DOING NAMCO

TOO MANY! TOO MANY!

AND MOST OF THEM SUCK!

THE COW IS ALMOST DRY!

Yeah, multiplatform does suck...but at least the Japanese have been far more successful at pulling it off well. Here's hoping they deliver.

Can't wait! Kind of hope it's on X360 or Wii and NOT PS3, although it probably will be. (I just don't want to have a reason to buy a PS3 yet...)
