THPS2 on DC is actually drastically improved graphically*, and the port was done by Treyarch (who also did THPS2X). They should obviously get to take over the series, if they're even around anymore.Mega Man's Electric Sheep said:Dreamcast had marginally improved PS1 ports of TH 1 and 2

Okay, I'm sorry, but that's not even possible to do.
Shaheed79 said:So what do developers think that adding bloom filtering automatically makes a game look more "next-gen"? I'm starting to get really tired of the bloom affect as it is making some developers extremely lazy.

They really should but it's a catch 22. They want a variety of games available at launch but have to sacrifice dev time in order to do so. It's clearly showing as most of the games we've seen are Xbox projects moved to the X360.op_ivy said:so, uh, i know tony hawk games are good sellers... but wont a game this shitty damage the 360 more then help it? serious question.
shouldnt MS block this shit from coming out, or would that piss off activision, a valued (hahaha) 3rd party?
Won't really be able to see if there's any HDR from a screenSuikoguy said:Its HDR Lighting, or an example of how NOT to do HDR lighting :lol
Iamthegamer said:Jeez, it doesn't seem so bad to me. Sure it's not up to snuff with other 360 games, but atrocious? I don't think so. It's just current gen TH cleaned up a bit with the rough edges smoothed out. It's not like I hated this gen's graphics. You all act like it's unplayable because it looks only slightly better than last gen's. Just chill the fuck out, it's not like this will "Damge" the 360. Tony Hawk fans who get a 360 will get this game, if they don't get a 360 they'll get it for this gen, and everybody else will play their games. You guys act as if this is PD0 or something, Microsoft's showcase game, when in reality it'll be thrown in the bottom of the pile with all of the other sports titles that aren't madden. Sure, it could be better, but complete crap? Unless you're expecting the same out of this gen's version, your expectations for every game on the 360 are a bit too high IMO.
IJoel said:Think about this. They have a new machine with 8 times as much RAM, a GPU chip with the capability to output more than 4 times the number of polys, and the game still looks the same with the "free AA" the GPU allows and perhaps some awful HDR implementation. They're not even trying and no developer/publisher should be rewarded for this kind of effort. At least throw much better textures (they could easily do this,) improve the models and spend a little time creating some clothing/surface shaders. I can't believe anyone would defend this. It's not about being a showcasing title, it's about being a next generation title that looks more than marginally better than the same game on a current generation platform.
They could've at least put some detail on the board wheels or something.human5892 said:![]()
Oh my fucking shit that is ATROCIOUS.
Borys said:Everything you mentioned costs money.
This game will sell boatloads anyway so why should they upgrade anything?
Take a Xbox 1 game, up the resolution, anti-alias it and you're set.
0$ spent.

The thing is that it isn't a next gen game, it's simply on a next gen system. Things would be a lot easier if people thought about things before they reacted. The Faceless Master said:i was gonna say "that can't be a next gen game" but it seems that it actually is...
neversoft isn't even trying anymore, huh?
man i wish acclaim hadn't gone south, i'd like to see a next gen mirra or aggressive inline
Error Macro said:Actually, I own many versions of the games.
THPS 1 - DC
THPS 2 - PC, DC
THPS 2x - Xbox
THPS 3 - GC, Xbox
THPS 4 - GC, Xbox
THUG 1 - GC, Xbox
THUG 2 - Xbox
I was just pointing out how ridiculous it is. I don't remember anything from the previous games that is as incredulous as grinding on a velvet rope held up by metal stands.
jboldiga said:A dev buddy of mine is lead programmer at Neversoft and while they are currently working on Gun they have another studio doing this game. Be warned it is a DIRECT PORT from the Xbox version with little to NO upgrades/improvements whatsoever. Dont except next-gen from TH just yet.
is gun going to be the same sort of thing?
moku said:I really, really do not understand this kind of shit. This is next gen. Microsoft wants to make a HUGE splash, in hopes of taking a larger piece of the pie, and to start actually making money off of thier games division.
So you'd think that they would make sure, that all of thier launch games, and certainly the high profile ones(Tony Hawk, PD0) Would look SPECTACULAR but this is not the case.
This game looks so bad(Now I understand that it's all about the gameplay, and how much fun you have) how do they expect anyone, even the panty-wetting x-bots, to get excited about this?
You know what they say about first impressions, and between this and PD0, what the fuck is the point of upgrading laterally ?
I didn't hate this gen's graphics either, but it's all about context. As IJoel alluded to, this does look atrocious when considering the specs of the 360, just like a game that was based on the PSOne THPS games would look atrocious if it came out for the PS2.Iamthegamer said:It's just current gen TH cleaned up a bit with the rough edges smoothed out.
