New "Warcraft" trailer featuring dubstep and white people LARPing

Its opening broke records exactly as predicted.

It was WoM that destroyed its legs.

No it didn't, it was suppose to top Star Wars, make that delicious $1Billy Guarantee and move itself into the glorious stage of how DC does comic book movies right...

Fuck top of page

I still stand this movie will have good WoM, trailers can he better edited, most of these have been the same scene reshuffled, could use a new dialogue

Like Civil War, those trailers at least encompass and change theme with each new trailer

I thought the CGI looked really dated.

Like this GIF where the troll guy gets dropped into a empty Maya scene:

This should be Blizzard's new production logo. *Punch* Blizzard Entertainment.

Not sure how you fuck up the pretty awesome (pre-wow) Warcraft storyline that sells itself but these trailers sure taught me it was possible.

I still hold out hope for the film due to the source material + director, but it's clear the people bankrolling this movie and thus really in charge of it have no fucking clue what they are doing.

Go home Universal, you're drunk.

That's not dubstep. But it's still comically out of place. Although the angry teenage me probably would have thought it was awesome of The Prodigy was on my Warcraft2 CD-ROM in the drive while playing. Perhaps they're onto something.

Some background for the youths of today-- In Warcraft2 the game CD-ROM was also an audio CD with the game data just being on a tiny part. There was even a secret bonus song accessed via cheat code! Or just pop it into a stereo.

Humans are the worst looking part of this film. Would have worked out fine had they gone full CGI stylized. I think even if the film is good, which it very well could be, the weird look of the humans in a CGI very stylized world is going to hurt it.

I know! I like how the orcs look, but the humans do look dorky and out of place.

Duncan Jones is a very able and interesting talent, but this movie looks poorly conceived on every level.

And if that's not the case and it's marketing misrepresentation, those marketing people should never work in the industry again.

I'm talking professional analysts' prediction, not fanboy pipe dreams.

BvS' opening weekend was on the lower end of what was predicted, and the coveted billion dollar gross was dependent entirely on good legs, which the movie did not have.

Even then, some sites like Deadline had it just barely under $1 billion.

I am because I like the story of the first war and I like Jones as a director. The marketing has been absolutely terrible though.

Bruh this movie is going to suck so hard.

They should have made a buddy comedy about World of Warcraft the game. That would have been great.

The humans just look so out of place, and Garona being clearly a human in makeup is even more distracting in "one of these things is not like the other" way.

Lord forbid, the hot halforc can't be CG. Gets me pretty cynical.

The source material is good, the director is good, and the early impressions from the test screening were positive. Don't make up your mind on some trashy marketing.

?????

it just blatantly looks like everyones stood in front of a green screen

that's what they're aiming for?

Sort of . They want the movie to look like the game, hence why everything looks so cartoonish.

A terrible idea if you ask me.

Hopefully we're not gonna have another Trank style meltdown in our hands come release.

I don't think so. While the marketing is bad, Legendary at least had the smarts/understanding to let Jones make the film he wanted to make. There haven't been any reshoots. They have just been polishing up the CGI for a while now.

I'd be a lot more hyped for this movie if the expansion wasn't 4 months away.

Unless it gets awful reviews I'll probably see it opening weekend. Lothar looks like he's worth the price of admission alone.

We'll see but this movie was suppose to be the chosen one. If Duncan Jones can't do it then video game movies are done. Studios already don't want to invest tones of money into it.

everything about this movie just screams "generic fantasy"

it feels like something that was supposed to release back when fantasy was the big thing after Lord of the Rings, before superheroes became the big thing

Ironically, it feels like the movie version of all those really late MMOs that came out to try to get that World of Warcraft money five years too late.

If Duncan Jones wasn't directing I would be way less optimistic about this.

The footage looks all right IMO, although I do think the marketing for this has been pretty bad.

It's weird to me that there's just one non-CGI orc.

It's based on a video game that they made because they couldn't get the rights to Warhammer.

It's the definition of generic fantasy

I so wish that this was just 100% CGI. Having real actors running around in cartoony CGI land... I can't get over it. And now there's one random orc in makeup?

I'm still gonna watch it, but dammit, I know I'm not gonna get past it.

Its funny how angry some people are at others calling the music Dubstep.

Its become the "Emo" of this decade: No one wants to be associated with it.

For those concerned about the CGi - bare in mind that YouTube compression destroys the quality of a lot of the VFX on display. Here's a post I made in the post-production thread a few weeks back with some non-compressed screencaps from that last TV spot:

Half Human, and very attractive looking simply because there will be romance between her and Lothar.

Hard to sell some kind of romance with an Orc Orc I guess?

She existed long before this movie was even a thought. They didn't create her out of thin air just for the movie if that's what you mean. But yeah, you are right about the romance part. I don't even know why they had to put it in there in the first place but I will trust Jones.

Actually, there is Orc/Orc romance between Draka/Durotan, but they haven't shown it in trailers.

Garona has a relatioship with Medivh in the source material, but no one really liked it. Also, her true purpose is a huge spoiler.

Oh I know. It's just I don't ever recall her ever having a romantic plot line.

I meant Orc-Orc.. Or full Orc..
Like if Garona looked more like Draka, it would be a hard sell for the audience.

I mean I'd prefer a more orcy looking Garona, but I KINDA see why they went for that design?

If you think prodigy is dubstep, you need your ears checked. Seriously.

Secondly, this trailer does a piss poor job at selling the movie. I'm still going to see it though, the landscapes are breathtaking. I can appreciate a movie for that.

Whoa. The lighting on display is a nice seller.

Lothar x Garona is actually going to be a thing? Weird. Hopefully she still ends up
betraying the Alliance
; I feel like her lack of happy endings is a key part of her character.

This movie's Bechdel test prospects aren't looking bright, but it's based off a fantasy game from 1994 so I guess that isn't too surprising.
