It looks really bad. I love Duncan Jones too.

Now You See Me 2 will go close with this, then Finding Dory and ID4-2 are going to crush this in subsequent weeks.

I hope Now You See Me 2 improves upon the original. The first movie was so bad. It deserved none of the success it got.

Michael Cera and Amy Adams were both really good in it, I thought.

Another terrible trailer. Even if the movie does end up being good, it will have had one of the worst marketing campaigns of all time. I can't help but think of David Fincher's quote about marketing people on his Se7en commentary. I remember him saying that they never approach a movie, even if it's good, saying, "This is great, we can sell this." Instead they always go into it with the attitude of, "How do we 'fix' this for mass consumption?" Even if there is a good movie hidden there somewhere in Warcraft, it's like the marketing people are determined we see none of it.

Blehh it looks so bad, but there is a real lack of fantasy (on the quality of the Lord of the Rings) movies out there that it makes me hope for the best. They really missed an opportunity to make more grounded orcs with real makeup like they did in the first LotR (compared to The Hobbit).

But they're using diesel powa for the music so that's cool.

The CGI looks fine. It's quite good, actually. The textures and lighting are very detailed. Naturally, people are going to claim that any noticeable CGI is awful for existing. But obviously orcs don't exist in real life, so CGI is going to be noticeable no matter how photo-realistic it is.

What doesn't look fine is the costume design. I get that it's faithful to the source material, but it really does look like LotR cosplay or something.

Oddly enough, WETA (LotR, Hobbit) did all the practical effects.

Finally got a chance to watch this and I don't get what the complaining about the music is all about, it fit the trailer decently enough, still lol at calling it dubstep though

Oh boy... To think this was my most anticipated movie of the year. With Duncan Jones on board and being blizzards precious IP. There's no way it could go wrong, man was I wrong.
This trailer looks so bad and with that shitty music it's almost as if they want the movie to fail.
Looks beyond bad.

For some reason thought it was Metzen.

Metzen created the Warcraft: Orcs and Humans storyline, which is what the film is based on. That's why Metzen gets credit for story. But Duncan Jones wrote his own script and changed some things (Lothar/Garona relationship, Dalaran flying, Orgrim being a Frostwolf Orc, etc.).

Duncan Jones' script includes dialogue.

This looks awful. I don't know if it's the bad CGI or the cheap-looking props, but everything about this looks really off to me.

Why do people keep calling the CGI bad? It's not like there's a lack of stuff to critique.

Probably because they think it looks bad? I mean, that's the usual reason. Or were you looking for more in-depth critiques of the CGI?

And you probably won't if you keep watching them compressed to hell on an internet streaming service.
I doubt YouTube compression is making everything look out of place in a live action setting along with the way the lighting effects the real stuff compared to the CG stuff.

I've yet to seea anything in the trailers that looks that good.
I think this was in the trailer

Guess I'm more irked about people going "omg bad CGI" on every youtube trailer. The same shit went in the Civil War trailer thread and reversed direction immediately when people posted uncompressed shots.

I can't even be bothered by those people anymore. Those people said BB8 was terrible CG, until Abrams came out and said it was a physical object.

The biggest issue by far is the actual humans clashing with the CGI orcs. Doesn't help when the female orcs aren't CGI. Still expecting the movie to be at worst just ok. Though I would like to be pleasantly surprised. Though the clashing of styles I think is going to be something that sticks to it.

Gotta make sure the female orcs are hot and sexy mang

that's not dubstep, it's the prodigy, and it actually fits because that's the kind of music people used in their raid/pvp videos back then

I couldn't even finish watching the trailer. This looks absolutely terrible. I stand by my nomination for biggest bomb.

Every time I see that half human-orc actress it makes me ashamed to have ever played Warcraft for some reason. I actually think this should have been straight up CGI because the Orc only stuff looks way better than the humans with terrible CG backdrops.

An entirely CGI film would probably look better, but it would be far too expensive and unsuccessful to be made. Completely animated films made for adults tend to bomb hard.
