Call me cynical but it feels like AI is being used as an excuse to add more tracking software to our devices, why do most things suddenly need an AI?

Funny thing is, I hated Clippy, and I hated Cortana with a passion - But I love Copilot and use it every fucking day.

My main non-gaming PC (that I'm typing on right now) is Linux. Ain't slick enough for the average user, I'm afraid.
I remember how hopeful we were for OS like Red Hat Linux back in 1997… now 25 years later and we are saying the exact same words as back then. It’s ridiculous that Linux is still so difficult to use.

Linux is the way it is because there is no commercial interest in making a pretty, easy to use desktop version of it. If someone thought there was money in making a UNIX-like OS that was also a great desktop OS, they would have already done it -----

---- wait. That's what Mac OS is. LMAO

Linux has come a long way, but I don't think it will ever be user friendly enough to be mainstream. Besides, most people would just rather use Windows.

I think its user friendly these days, mint, ubuntu, etc are very user friendly. i think that is why there is a big growth with linux this past year.

Definitely improved, but I'm not so sure it has improved enough for the average user. Wouldn't Steam Deck be a big reason for Linux growth? Between SD and proton in general, I think Linux has definitely appealed to gamers like myself who finally see an alternative to Windows. To your point, I'm using Kubuntu and yeah, the improvements in UI with KDE plasma definitely helps a lot.

Made a crappy phPBB forum once ... once.
I don't get, why is this a problem?
Microsoft don’t make keyboards they make an OS. Why should an OS manufacturer force a keyboard manufacturer to put its key onto their keyboard?

You’re right in a way why is it a problem- just don’t press it - however why should MS be (supposedly) forcing this?

MS used to make their own peripherals - make their own keyboard if they want their special key. Otherwise fuck off.

I must be outraged over this...but we are slaves to AI now.

We work for skynet now.
Yeah..

Even though everyone like to call this AI, it is not AI, it's basically just machine learning.

Once AI arrives for real it's going to be a completely different beast to tackle.

When is the pornhub edition? Far more useful for most I'd bet.

I bet it will just replace the windows key
That's going to still be there, looks like an alt key will go. If you turn this shit off apparently the copilot key will launch windows search. Pretty pointless when win+s does that already but guess i'm getting another way to open search..........

AI is handy for asking questions given almost all search engines have turned into absolute dogshite.
As for Linux, people use Windows because people use Windows. There's no escaping this.
