I'm actually only like 5 hours into the first game. I just started it on 3DS. It's just that the first game has grabbed me right away when it comes to the story.
Obviously I hope this game grabs me too. I'm just not that excited by what I've seen story-wise so far. I didn't follow Xenoblade Chronicles pre-release though so I have no idea if those trailers would have grabbed me, but I followed the trailers for the 3DS version and I felt like the story-based trailers grabbed me much more than any of the Xeno X trailers so far.
I saw this cockpit view from a lot of mecha anime and manga...
Even in Xenoblade Chronicles you get a similar viewin the Control Room of Mechonis
I don't think laziness is the reason.Might be used in other media, but it doesn't make it any less lazy in my opinion. Either way it's not a make or break on what will otherwise be a fantastic experience.
I get a chuckle whenever people complain about the MC being a silent protagonist when it's painfully obvious Elma is the actual main character and the avatar is just there for the online mode.
Can you speak Japanese?
You dont even know whats going on in this trailer.
How is it lazy? The cockpit is essentially a contol chair surrounded by a spherical screen that gives a full view of the outside of the mech. Wouldn't a more typical cockpit be lazier since it would be less imaginative and they wouldn't have to worry about rendering a ton of shit going on outside?Might be used in other media, but it doesn't make it any less lazy in my opinion. Either way it's not a make or break on what will otherwise be a fantastic experience.
Elma is totally the MC and I love it so much
Actually, the "evil guys" have much better and more interesting designs than the main cast.Jesus, the game isn't even out in Japan and I already love it so much. Trailer is great, loved seeing some of the evil guys.

but we get to make our own KOS-MOS, Shion or EllyYup. If that's the case I just wish you could play as her instead of being forced to make a character just for some online shit that I'm not even interested in.

That is exactly my problem with the custom (the silent part doesn't matter) protagonist. If the game is going to be that way then just let me play it fully though the main characters eyes instead of someone irrelevant to the story.
We still don't know if this is the case, but it really seems like it from what we have seen.
Meh... I'm totally going to recreate the Space Rihanna from the Treehouse demo...but we get to make our own KOS-MOS, Shion or Elly
Please be a summer release in the West.

I think it's somewhere below Persona 5 and above The Witcher 3 on my RPG hype list.I'm more excited for this game than I have been for a lot of others in a looooong time.

The two leads of a AAA game both being black women?
The internet will explode
This is a joke
I think one black woman (Elma) being the main character would be enough to make the internet explode.
Speaking of Elma, the game isn't out yet and I already love her. When is she gonna be playable in Smash Bros?

I don't understand why Nintendo has been sexualizing their female characters so much lately. Now, as an old fan of their content, I know they've always sort of sexualized Samus for example since the 80's however lately it's becoming too much. I believed this company is (or was?) supposed to family friendly. Yet we see characters from games such as Fire Emblem, Palutena from Smash, Fire Emblem X SMT, Fatal Frame, Samus as per usual and now Xenoblade just go overboard on this sexualization.
It strikes me as odd and full of mixed messaging. Different audiences or not, its really getting out of hand and its extremely weird, or dare I say "cringe" too. Furthermore, if it were any western company such as EA, Ubisoft or Blizzard, we would be hearing about this on a continuously manner from blogs, websites and YouTube videos, demanding to tone it down. They would also be expressing how they are representing the female genders as over the top, misogynist or primal, feeding off of sexual desires. I concur this may be what the minority wants, which appears to be the target audience for such games, however if a relatively unknown celebrity was seen doing uncanny things in front of a camera, they would be chastised too, (many even started off this way). This is unfair to anyone who was attacked by people for these same reasons that Nintendo or other Japanese developers seem to get away with, using excuses such as "it's a different culture".
Different culture or not, it is rather demeaning from my point of vue. Regardless, it's just my observation. You may react negatively and call be obtuse or you could retroactively give your reasoning on how this may be different for you.
Best wishes.
oh I'm doing that too.Meh... I'm totally going to recreate the Space Rihanna from the Treehouse demo...

I'm betting on a august release. NOA has nothing for Wii U this summer and every other Wii U game has some sort of release window so XBX makes the most sense...plus I just wanna play this game as soon as possible.
