New Zelda 3DS Impressions and Gameplay footage

I hope so! Roc's Cape/Feather have always been my favorite tool in any Zelda game, after that is the Beetle from Skyward Sword :P I wonder if it'll seem redundant though, since the Hammer handles jumping (although in a contextual manner).

The Hammer would be too limiting and laggy a method to rely on.

But beyond all that...I miss fighting the Big Blue Boar. He's a hallmark of the series for me, and Zelda just hasn't been the same for me with him being second fiddle to Ganondorf.

I think this is part of what people mean when they say most of the post-Ocarina games focus too much on being Ocarina - Ganondorf is now the standard form of the big bad. (Except Skyward Sword, obviously.)

I didn't really even love Link's Awakening that much (don't murder me!), but Roc's Feather was so much fun. I don't know why exactly, but executing jumps with it, whether to solve a puzzle or just messing around, always felt so satisfying and crunchy, if you know what I mean.

Looks a lot better than I thought, can't wait.

I suppose this hardly shows much of the game, i am sure will have many cool bosses and areas that utilize the 3D effect to great extends

The sky temple was already pretty impressive and i am certain this will only be the tip of the iceberg

They could also add atmospheric and weather effects like in the pic above

Photoshop Effects: The Game

oh boy I can't wait

But sure I like weather. Maybe we'll get some at some point, like the LTTP intro, Wind Waker's stormy sea, or Twilight Princess's Midna rescue bit.

According to the Hyrule Historia, that's exactly the case. LTTP takes place in the timeline where the Hero of Time lost, thus leading to Ganon getting all pieces of the Triforce, the Imprisoning War, yadda yadda. Apparently, the Oracle games (where Ganon was "faux-revived") also take place after LTTP, then Awakening.

So, depending on where exactly "LTTP2" stands to take place in relation to all these other games, it wouldn't be totally out of place for Ganon to somehow come back into the picture. Twinrova almost accomplished it at the end of the Oracle games, so I guess anything goes in a world where prophecies come out of the woodwork and history has a knack for repeating itself.

But beyond all that...I miss fighting the Big Blue Boar. He's a hallmark of the series for me, and Zelda just hasn't been the same for me with him being second fiddle to Ganondorf.

They're talking about the Oracle games. In the Oracle games Ganon gets partially resurrected as a mindless beast. They're suggesting Link fails to beat him.

I understand this, but - at the same time - I think it has been way more badass fighting sword duels with the villain at the end of the last several console games than another bigass monstrosity. There's something more intimate and personal about fighting a humanoid to me.

And I'd agree with that notion.

I mean, c'mon, Ganon hasn't even got into Smash Bros. (unless you really count that Final Smash of Dorf's in Brawl, which I don't), in spite of being one of the original characters in the series. I'm honestly hoping this particular game might possibly up his chances, along with Toon Link being swapped out with LTTP-Link.

EDIT:

The console games can do whatever they want. They have their own crowd, and I can respect that.

But since this game is seemingly poised to stoke all of my nostalgia flames for LTTP and the rest of the overhead Zelda's I loved from back in the day? Ganon is just something I would expect.

I'm foaming from my mouth. The music. THE MUSIC.

It looks very fast paced, which is great. I'm a huge Zelda fan, and while I didn't like the more methodic exploration of the 3D games, this one seems much more focused (and so far seems to do away with hours upon hours of text for opening chests).

I can't wait.

The game actually seems a little early. There are quite a few missing sound effects (like the warping or fanfare after beating a boss). I look forward to seeing what it will be like when complete.

Not a huge fan of the music (I was never a fan of most LttP music, anyway), but it's still better than most dungeon music in recent 3D Zeldas.

But...but...but...

Even leaving out themes that never made an appearance again like the Lost Woods theme or the Dark World theme, this game has almost ALL of the iconic Zelda themes that are the heart of the Zelda series. I literally cannot understand how you can be a Zelda fan and not like this music.

Pretty much the biggest thing announced at a Direct I'd say. Maybe matches Bayonetta 2, as that wasn't expected, as a 3DS Zelda was. But it means when people say stuff like "Metroid Dread" it's not as crazy.

Still not happening
No. The biggest announcement was Yoshi's Island 3DS. X and Wind Waker remake are up there too.

Lol. As a static screenshot, that looks ok. As actual in-game visuals, it would probably a mess like that shitty CD-i Zelda Wand of Gamelon or something...

God I hope this isn't delayed and we really get it this November/December.

I NEED THIS GAME

What I'm wondering is why we're getting the game this holiday season but Japan has to wait till sometime early next year. Did A Link to the Past sell better over here than it did in Japan?

Damn, just got nostalgia goosebumps.
This game was truly a masterpiece when it was released.

That last video was great. It seems that getting 100 rupees is much easier so hopefully there are many more things to buy/upgrade. What's the verdict so far on how the actual 3D looks?

A combination of the fact that Zelda's more popular in the West + too many games brah.

Well Nintendo, you gave me good reason to get your 3DS this year. Grats. :D
And you are not the only one. Nintendo insane profits estimates are at least based on solid ground this time. 3DS sales could explode fall with this game, Pokemon and the army of Mario titles.

How wrong I was about the initial impressions of this game.

Watching this video
I´m glad you all like my video....Thank U..... ;u;

completely changed my thoughts. The pacing is simply amazing,
and this "3D" link is unlike any I've seen yet. I think Nintendo really thought a lot about their
art direction, despite how simple it may look to some.
This is the simplicity we've been wanting all along.

The dungeon theme in LttP really instills a sense of dread in me. Like;

"Oooh you're in a deep dark cave, and that thing won't be killed by a sword HOW DO YOU KILL IT, and beep beep motherfucker, you're low on hearts. And you think it's bad now? BOOM. Beetle that fills up half the screen whose attacks are super powerful."

Anyone else think Nintendo is going to end up releasing a 3D Classic or normal release of LTTP sometime in the fall before this game hits? Would be nice to play before getting this one. I must admit, I've never played the original before, so now's as good a time as ever.

I'll repost this here.

Another video of the demo with direct sound.

Zelda: A Link to the Past 2 - 13 Minutes *Direct Sound* Gameplay in perfect Q

Hooooly shit. Guys, watch this with your eyes closed. Seriously - it makes you realise this is 100% ALTTP 2. Of course you have the return of the dungeon theme, but all the sound effects are directly taken from ALTTP. It's...its

it's what I've been waiting for since I first finished ALTTP way back in 1995 or so. Oh my god. It's a fucking true sequel. I'm speechless.

They could opt to just put the GBA port of LTTP on VC and call it a day, if they wanted to.

Sure, it's got the annoying Kid Link yells from OoT among other quirks, but it should be enough if you really wanted to get the experience of the game.

And hey, with Link's Awakening already available and the Oracle games on the way, you'd basically stand to be all "caught up" storywise, no less.

It's a shame we've yet to see any artwork from this game yet, I'd love to see it.

I'm also interested in how they'll handle cutscenes, but I have a feeling it'll almost be exactly like ALttP in this respect as well.
