This is a severe overstatement. They have no obligation to respond. They're selling their product. That product won't go up for preroder until June. It will sell out almost immediately. They still have months and months to detail it before release. The only reason anyone is making a fuss is because Sony had a February event last time. MS had one shortly before E3 last time and showed a form factor. They've both been vague on actual details because they wanna wait till it's too late for the other guy to change (remember MS upclocking last time)

not much. We got to see TimDog try really hard to be nice and sensible for a hot minute. But yeah, still nothing solid. Cboat’s general ford‘s skinner cage still not decoded. imo microsoft is our era’s General Electric (giant all consuming corporate katamari), they are building a Ford to compete with sony’s Ferrari skinner box. Also, the fact cboat refers to consoles as skinner boxes tells me he isnt into consoles anymore.

as far as coronavirus goes, Inovio Pharmaceuticals came up with a vaccine in 3 hours once Chinese authorities supplied them with the sequnce in early Jan. It will,be released to the public once fast-tracked testing is complete in a few months. World is not ending yet, and consoles will be in your hands before you know it.

Well I had no idea these guys were vetted then I guess I'm in the wrong here. I admit I haven't kept up with this thread as much. Perhaps a few quotes in the OP from these guys and confirmation they have been vetted would have helped in the confusion.

MS did its final upclock in august. are you saying they should wait until august?
its weird that you say that they dont HAVE to respond to what the competitor is doing and then turn around and say that they are literally waiting to see what the competitor does.
the fact of the matter is that their marketing strategy has got even their most loyal fans baffled by their indecision. yes, they dont have to follow the Feb reveal but in marketing and PR, you have to soften the blow of each piece of bad news with a good one. they have had a string of bad announcements back to back to back with no real plan put forward.
And its not like we dont have another company who isnt doing those things. MS held a mini reveal and showed a next gen game and a console form factor, and then had a somewhat vague but reassuring spec reveal. then they said we are going to be at E3. E3 is months away but the fans know they are going to be there. there is no indecision, no guess work, they have given a timeline and gave us a taste to keep everyone hungry for more but not desperate.
one could argue that they didnt even have to do that because they dont have to respond to any negative leaks like the github leaks and other poorly received announcements like not being at E3. and yet they went ahead and did their mini reveal anyway.

If you don't mind me asking, where did sony say they're waiting on MS to reveal prices? Bloomberg?
Unless you're suggesting they're going to redesign the PCB, I think ram amount is something they could tell us. If they're going with 16Gb, you have to assume they're using 8 2Gb chips. There are no 4Gb chips AFAIK, so it's not like they could mix and match densities. Even then, mixing those screws/makes things interesting when it comes to bandwidth and memory controller.

I think the main thing with the conferences is that some of the people that are attending these things have a lot of international visitors and with a ton of people being in close proximity to each other could easily spread something like that fast...it is better just to be safe than sorry.

Interesting. I think i was komachi that stated "big APU mode" was not supported by navi21/22/23. I wondered what 'big apu mode" meant and this slide sort of suggests it simply means APU. So big die parts navi21/22/23 won't be made into APU while the smaller die parts will.

Someone in this thread said that COVID-19 isn't bad and that people were back to work. Anyone working in that area is doing so against the wishes and orders of the government and will probably face harsh consequences. Check the world news, there is no cure and nothing they have done has slowed it down. They're afraid that the treatments they are trying have made it stronger as there are more deaths of people that weren't sickly to begin with. Also Chinese and Japanese business practices are very different than American and European practices. Its a bad look to have people in the factories that make your product sick and dying and you go shouting to the rooftops about how great your new system is.
