I am not gay but there is nothing wrong with that if someone was.

Did someone grab your bum in a night club once,

I am sensing some police academy vibes coming from you.

No one said its wrong to be lol I'm just not with the sensitive society shit where I feel I have to put a clause in my comments everytime I mention something gay (e.g. I'm saying this but it's OK to be gay).

You sure you not 🤔😂😂😂😂😉😉😂😂

Aye. It was mentioned quite a long while back to AMD and Sony had worked together on the tech for the PS5, which was then going to go into AMD's future GPUs.
You are from the UK, right? :messenger_winking_tongue:

Aye, as Cerny said (to paraphrase) - "If these technologies make it into future AMD GPUs, we know we've done a good job".

Don't remember how long it took on the Witcher 3 but i'm playing SpiderMan and it takes ~5-7 seconds max
GEDAFUCK ATTA HERE!

Seriously though, I'm talking about turning the power on the PS5, wait the system to boot, run Spider-Man/Witcher 3/AAA title, load a saved game, wait for the game world to load and play.

For most of those games, the procedure takes like, 3-5 minutes.

Heck, the X1X needs about a minute to boot.

Looks like boot time will be the new bottleneck, there's no loading excuse this time.

LOL, this thread is like a damn crack addiction tbh. The fact there is no news won't slow this thread down.

I'm guessing there won't be news from Sony themselves probably at least until ONL, or September sometime if not then. Maybe we'll have things to talk about from the next upcoming events (DC Fandome, ONL and Gamescom, and the Future Games) streams to tide us over.

Until then, this place will continue to be it's usual mayhem and spec speculation in all likelihood.

Agreed. Im hyped for every aspect of the PS5 but this is a big deal for me as well.

I boot up my dual boot laptop and Im at the sign in screen in Ubuntu in 3 seconds. Im at the Windows sign in at about 5 seconds. Both OS are ready to use as soon as I do sign in.

My laptop wasnt designed around this either so Im expecting really both consoles to be damn near instant.

I just read the whole twitter thread. These people are straight up mentally ill.
timdog and his friends are about to start a worldwide revolution if they do not get enough attention soon.
Alex is sweating profusely whenever PS5 is mentioned. IT CANNOT HAVE RT!
In the meanwhile, PS5 is showing RT superiority, another reason to give credit to the leaks about PS5 having its own customized RT/intersection engines.

It is even better:
Microsoft can do 4 Project XCLoud sessions in XBox One S quality per SeriesX chip, and I saw a video in which they put 4 motherboards in one single 19" case (standard size for servers). That mean one of these cases can serve 16 people in parallel, and there are several of these cases in one rack.
And we talk about Project XCloud, that means Game Pass Ultimate at least

It would be interesting if Sony has something similar for PS-Now to keep their solution competitive. A few days ago someone posted here a PDF from a 2019 Sony investor talk in which they said they want to improve quality...
Sony's had this technology for years. Same as Nvidia, Google and several companies before them. Nobody cares.

Maybe it's not something that makes it more powerful but easier to use?

I'm just going back and thinking about how ease of development was a focus for Sony. It could be possible that RT is just easier to use in the PS5 then the XSX.

Could be as well, according to Quantum Error devs:

But maybe the intersection engines have been given more customization to utilize RT in a different way than Nvidia and AMD native solutions? Most people are in denial when they saw the official screenshots, it's like too good to be true, and we know Sony won't gamble on misleading the audience as having no RT at all is much better than doing that.

Really? Can you run around as Geralt in the Witcher 3 in less than 15 seconds? Cause I sure as hell don't.
Witcher 3 takes at least a minute or two to load on my PS4, as great as the game is it does have its drawbacks, loading times are one of them, especially when respawning. I don't really blame then though, this is largley due to PS4's slow HDD, I know recent games like GoT have really good load times but Witcher 3 came out back in 2015/16 and the game had been in development since 2010 or something. A lot of PC's ran the game smoothly as well however the consoles did struggle, especially with frame-rates because the game was CPU intensive. It explains why a lot of tech analysis channels like DF used Witcher as a benchmark for both CPU and GPU's.

This is why I'm really hoping we get a patch update for the game when the next-gen consoles! I really want to play the game again with higher resolutions and frame rates and no loading times!!

The only thing I'll say is that Sony has shown off RT more than Microsoft has. Judging by the specifications the XSX should do ray tracing better but for some reason we really haven't seen it in the console yet.

Just makes me think there's something else.

Those guys seems talented, managing to make a game like this with very few people is awesome. No surprise Sony approached them to make this game exclusive.

Remember that Guerrilla were like 7 people or something when making KZ1, and look where they are now. I think Sony has the thing to see the hidden talent in game devs.

Yeah, I guess that does take long. I mostly play a single game at a time and always leave the ps4 on standby mode, I barely have to face that delay...

I played a playthrough of TW3 and finish like 2 month ago, the main reason i didn't NG+ is because of the insane loading times. A patch for PS5 for this game that will at least remove loading times would be neat.

Does anyone have the numbers for the PS5? Gtri/sec and Gpix/s?
What?? That's quite a bit more.
This is what i've mentioned few times the fill-rate difference between PS5 and XSX GPU ( like here : https://www.neogaf.com/threads/microsoft-xbox-series-xs-amd-architecture-deep-dive-at-hot-chips-2020.1561487/page-10#post-259761935 ) . I think it will be mentioned good amount of times

RedGamingTech on the PS5's Ray-tracing:

"I'm also way less certain about this but I heard something about the ray-tracing aspect of the PS5's GPU, and I was told that it IS based on RDNA 2 much like the Xbox Series X but allegedly it's customised by Sony, I don't know the exact details here and I would take this with a truckload of salt, as this is not from a regular source....I was told it is based on RDNA 2 but the PS5 can run ray-tracing at different frequencies calculations when running RT, I don't have the architecture specifics, so I don't know if the RT cores themselves are decoupled or wether it's the CU or wether this is true at all, the only reason I have any faith in this rumour is that one of my more reliable sources hinted to me that specific CU of the PS5 could possibly operate at higher clock speeds and could basically be independent of the entire GPU".

After the leaks:

Its not ironic. If PC ends up with a shit version. Consoles are specialised for gaming. PC is not. Brute force Vs precision, optimised work= different yields. And in the PS5 case its features has input & feedback for the elite of elite devs from PS studios & across the world.

PS5 is built for devs to have fun in next gen. There is not much that is stock AMD in the PS5. Its customised heavily & just sounds like Sony have full control over their hardware. Cant wait for the games & final showcases. Get back to talking games.

Man this looks absolutely mind blowing.

Can't imagine what games that strive for realism will look like nextgen.
This game really needs MP, imagine all the shit talk between pilots and control tower operators.

For Sony, since they are not releasing a lower spec sku, and they priced the PS4 Pro at 399$, I don’t see them jumping from 399$ to 599$. It also doesn’t vibe with what Cerny was saying about “responsibility to keep costs down”. It also doesn’t match the doubling of PS5 production.

But I’m ready to be wrong.
Sony seems much more cost conscious than MS. Why? They have gone 36CU, tried to find a smart way of getting the most of the CPU. I/O shouldn't take much space to be the "thing" responsible for a smaller GPU. As we saw with the XSX slides, smaller nodes are getting expensive and Sony knows that too. This plus a lot of patents to use multiple small chips makes me think that this was always cost driven. Should we expect $399? No, but $499 seems a reasonable price for consoles that are seven years apart.

We have to remember that we're not in a situation where console manufacturers just want to get by with a cheap console. They are pushing new things, specially Sony with VR, SSD, Audio. XSX is doing that too, but the bigger the more expensive.

Agreed. Cory Barlog is directing 1 game, and I think this Eric Williams guy is now directing a new game. He’s a long time Santa Monica dev. I think he might be leading the next God of War while Cory Barlog is leading a new IP.

So Moore's Law Is Dead was right hmmmm he said he heard Cory Barlog was just a producer in the new God of War game.
I think he will have a writing credit. He’s said they’ve written out basically a trilogy already. He laid the groundwork for new God of War, so the next one might not need him to direct it all. It will still have the no cut camera etc.

If I were Sony, and I wanted to green light a new AAA IP, I’d let the guy who just made GOTY do it, if he wanted to. And I think he wanted to. I think Cory’s new game is space related.

“Cory Barlog, the Creative Director of 2018’s God of War recently updated his Twitter profile, posting cryptic messages. Barlog changed his Twitter profile to that of the Voyager 2 space satellite, his cover photo to a picture of stars in space, and tweeted the cryptic message “—- <END TRANSMISSION> … .. .””

“British film Director Duncan Jones met with Barlog back in 2018, and tweeted “if you think that God of War is his magnum opus, just you wait!” Jones is well known for having directed many sci-fi and space themed films.”

This is hype! I think GoW is in good hands because Cory still is on SM and we know he has most of the trilogy planned and writen down. The direction is just part of what made GoW special, but for me the writing was the most important thing.

I wonder if they will revive Internal 7, or something on that style. The concept art is dope as fuck, I'd love for a game like that. I guess Cory embodies what people like in this new era of Sony 1st party, it's so much talent that you can go wrong hyping a game from these people.

I wouldn’t be inclined to believe this leak because of two reasons:
One as far as I know Sony kept the PS4 UI so tightly under wraps that first party devs working on the console didn’t get to see it up until it was shown on stage, I don’t see them just giving it away to some third parties for launch day themes, which I also don’t think have ever been a thing

Two I just feel in my bones that an UI that crops half of every icon offscreen breaks some sort of cardinal graphic design law, Paul Rand wouldn’t be too happy about this
I wouldn't be surprised if some people have seen the UI because Sony themselves teased it, so somehow it ran inside the company. What I really doubt is this 'games on the bottom' thing, it sounds awful lol.

Wow, man, the bolded section just sounds insane! Nothing comes half-baked when Sony and Mark Cerny are behind it!

Either this is BS, the RT can run at greater than 2.23 ghz which is insane and I don’t believe at all, or 2.23 ghz can be maintained for RT but not for the main CU rasterization efforts.

Not trying to be funny, but my local trash bins at the park look very similar to those, just bigger.

the top has not holes though
a neutral rectangular cube looks like another rectangular object. The shock.

I was more interested in the feet on the side for alt resting positions. Kinda neat seeing it in detail.

We've all heard this for over a year. Sony Raytracing is highly customized and may be superior than Microsoft's.

The Cerny patent that compresses the shader vertices before sending to the pixel shader and decompresses and allows more functions (as the original vertex data is maintained), might also be used for the Ray tracing function.

The patent only talks about vertex and pixel shader compress / decompress and allowing novel processing, but if its arranged same way as the RDNA2 RT then this MIGHT come into play.

We need Cerny back.

No I don't think he's implying the GPU or CU's will go over 2.23 Ghz, but that if the GPU and CU's are not fully saturated or running at a clock speed of let's say 1.8 Ghz, then a specific CU(s) or RT core(s) can run at a higher clock such as 2.23 Ghz or whatever.
