Next Silicon Knights game titled "The Box"?

A number of sites are reporting that, via information in an employee CV/resume, Silicon Knights' next game is titled "The Box":

Silicon Knights working on 'The Box'?

A leaked CV has revealed that Silicon Knights are developing a new game called The Box.

According to CVG, the CV belongs to ex-Silicon Knights artist, Zhang Shao-yong, who lists his previous work as Too Human and The Box.

Shao-yong says he contributed to the game by shaping visual effects for "explosions, smoke, water, fire, weather and so on".

The Box, which is said to be for the PS3 and 360, could be the game Silicon Knights is working on with Sega.

Very little information to go on as of yet, but I know GAF has enjoyed many of their games (Blood Omen and Eternal Darkness are personal favourites
wots Too Human
) and thought this was postworthy.

TL: DR crowd: summary of information known so far:

After Too Human (both the average quality and the complete and total lack of support for the game), I have no idea who would give Silicon Knights the time of day again. =/

so they are still alive?

how come, lot of good developers are dying left and right while the crappy ones is still alive?

not that i want anyone to be jobless or something, but this is absurd

Too Human was a disappointment in my opinion but I'm still optimistic about new SK games.

Too Human didn't sell great but it didn't bomb either.

Pretty sure this has been rumored for a pretty long time now, no? Anyway, the original Blood Omen is one of my favorite PSX games, but I'm not sure SK has what it takes any more to make something on that level.

Will it be legendary?

Has there been any downsizing at Silicon Knights? You'd think that Too Human hit them hard if they didn't have a good deal with MS.

That's because some of us realise that Too Human was very much Shadowrunned and sent to die with no aftermarket development budget from Microsoft.

Dyack pretty much killed his own product more than anything. Was still a painfully average game on top of that.

me. i liked ETERNAL DARKNESS that much.

again, TOO HUMAN just seemed like a big misuse of SK's talents. this is going to sound like an underhanded compliment, but what they're good at it is not game mechanics; ED was about total experience and great storytelling. they should no more be focusing on blowing your mind with the way a game plays than the people behind INDIGO PROPHECY or HEAVY RAIN.

i hope SK learned some hard lessons from TH.

Is there some joke I'm not getting here or do you regularly capitalize [GAME TITLE].

Kind of telling that Raven already managed to put out a competent sequel to Marvel: UA, and Lionhead will prob be done with Fable 2&3, before we get a Too Human 2.

Sega's been fairly on the ball lately (for Sega) in terms of publishing content, so I have hope, though I wouldn't hold my breath for the PS3 version given SK's technical know-how.

Speaking of Dyack

It's been really a rough year and a half for the industry as a whole. The number of layoffs in the industry has been staggering. As an external developer it's been tough. I actually don't know anyone who's older than us any more. There used to be four or five people I knew of but I feel right now that we're one of the last of the V8s. I've talked to a lot of people and I know a lot of people who have gone out of business.

....

What that means for us is we're really excited because we're going to be able to come out, and the industry is going to rebound and grow, and we'll be one of probably five companies in the world that has any serious business beyond ten years.

"Everyone's losing their jobs, so we're being pushed up by default" is kind of a scummy thing to be happy about.

Instead of thinking outside the box, think within the box.
Jump inside one and seal it up. What are you experiencing? Eternal Darkness.

Aftermarket Development? Why bother putting a pretty dress on an ugly kid?

well, Mercenaries 2 didn't bomb either so.......

The Box was a Silent Hill-like game (was it pitched as a Silent Hill game? Who knows...) and started in 2004/2005. Then Sega decided to publish it. In 2006, after an online survey, it was renamed The Crucible: Evil Within. In late 2008 Sega cancelled some projects including Obsidian's Aliens RPG and I assume also The Box/The Crucible. It might be the case that SK retained the rights to the game and is still working on it, but then there were layoffs in late last year and earlier this year and the team was also producing assets for THQ's Darksiders. Therefore I'd say it's cancelled.
Early concepts did look interesting though.

Is this from Too Human?

I don't know everything about the Pandemic thing but I'm sure the people were let go more so because of EA's poor financial situation rather than Pandemic's games bombing. SK is a private company as far as I know so they aren't prone to those kinds of cuts.

Oh, hi. I fixed your post for you.

Me. Too Human was an entertaining little game. Too bad it was hyped to high heaven.

Twin Snakes was a good game. The boss fights were much easier because the MGS2 abilities weren't balanced enough for them, but it was still a good game. Calling it "below average" is just crazy and dumb.

So it features exploding barrels? Dare I dream of propane tanks?
