As far a CJ2K goes, I think those numbers are bs that are being spread by the shitpile that is Titans management. The only thing we've officially heard from CJ's camp is that there hasn't been any sort of an offer from the Titans.

Here is what's happening (supposedly):

CJ: I want more monies
Titans Management: Sure, just show up to camp and start working and we'll figure it out.
CJ: No. I did this before and you still haven't paid me.
TM: Yeah but if you show up this time, seriously, we'll negotiate in good faith and make you the highest paid RB.
CJ: Why can't you just do that now, before I show up?
TM: I..... well... it's just that

I honestly don't get the hype in Kevin Kolb. Other than his outing against the niners last year, he hasn't exactly shown much. It just seems like everyone is taking Reid's word for face value on the guy.

Kevin Kolb is the worst "good QB". I see nothing good about him. When I heard the amount the Cards gave this guy I had to look twice.

The thing with RBs is that yeah, 99% of the time they're a dime a dozen. But every so often there is one that is definitely worth paying for.

Is CJ that one? I dunno. The last one worth it was LT.

Would he have been worth 1/6 of a teams salary cap though? I dont think so.

If gore thinks he's going to get as Much money as he did at Miami, he's wrong.

Lol

we will pay gore. people like to say that rb's are a dime a dozen, and when you're watching a highlight on espn they are. but there is a hell of a difference between a top RB who has good vision, catches the ball and picks up the blitz vs. a guy who you see break a sweet 50 yard TD run on sportscenter but gets your QB killed and averages 2 yards a carry if you take away the big run.

titans are absolutely fucked without CJ. not saying there isn't a rb in waiting who can't put the ball in the endzone several times and have a few hundred yard games but it isn't the same.

Titans are fucked with CJ. I would think the best thing for them would be to trade him, but I cant see them getting value with his contract being so up in the air.

Why do players sign contracts that basically guarantee that they'll get cut a few years before the contract expires.

Fixed.

Not that I don't agree with you about Gore but the last few years, he's been the RB that averaged 2 yards a carry if you take away his 50 yard runs (His passblocking and pass catching has been superb though). Consistent runners are a byproduct of good runblocking. LT in his last few years as a charger did nothing b/c their o-line was crap when it came to run blocking. It's not a coincidence that he regained a bit of his form once he went to the Jets.

But yeah, we're 15 mil under the cap. Break some of that off for Gore.

i'll give gore a pass under singletary. look at what he did with competent coaching in 05 and 06. shit, even 07 with joker hostler he had 1k yards. if the guy is being productive with no blocking, i have to believe he is going to be even better with a good coaching staff who knows how to take advantage of our players

How does it help the Titans re-sign their best player if they make up stories about how greedy the player is and leak them to the press? If I was CJ I would not want to re-sign with a team that was making up lies about me, and trying to make me look bad.

Mallett for CJ

So gaf is there any way I can practice an auto draft strategy? I have been reading about different strategies but there is no real way to test them that I could find. Won't be able to draft my team live.

yahoo has mock drafts all day

I also play in a auto draft league too. Just saved what players you want in a order you think u want them. My way

last 2 years got Peyton/White/Jennings combo and Brady/Wayne for first 2 picks.

Also question how much is too much for a player auction draft? I spent 29 on Jennings yesterday in a keeper league. Highest bid was Gore at 33 and Brady at 35.

Trying to prep for an impromptu draft at my place this week; anyone have, and willing to share, the excel doc they have w/ all the player names that you can print and stick to a draft board?

I dont even think FMT is that positive. That sounds like it was written by someone who is not old enough to have had the hope beaten out of them by the 9ers over the years.
I've seen it all my friend. I've been cheering for and watching Niners games likely before (or close to) when you were born.

Do any non-Niner fans think Gore has HoF talent but has been stuck on a crap team?

I think Roger Goodell should suspend him for all his benefit transgressions at the U.

NFL.com's fantasy client has a mock draft client that lets you select which position you'd like to draft from. Much better to prep than espn's which throws you in a random slot, let's you see what your team looks like picking at different snake draft slots going different build position orders.

No real such thing as over paying in an auction league, unless you get suckered into bidding high early where you are capped from getting into later auctions for the players you want. If you really want the player, get the player. Take into consideration that you will have to be filling out your roster though so don't get too out of hand in early bids, take positional tiers/costs into consideration as well. You can pop your stack on two or three players early and watch as patient players fill out a roster with comparable performers and guys with tremendous upside after in auctions they can muscle you out on. Don't get caught on the tail end of a positional tier run bid war though.

Report: Frustrated Gore could request trade
7

According to Pro Football Talk, Niners running back Frank Gore is "frustrated" that he's yet to receive a contract extension, the situation between the team and Gore's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, is "volatile" and a trade request could be next.

Wow. That doesn't sound promising, but there is a recent precedent for cooler heads to prevail when it comes to the Niners, Gore and his contract.

After all, Gore's training-camp holdout lasted just four days and there have been no obvious signs since that there is serious acrimony between the two-time Pro Bowl running back and the team.

On two occasions, coach Jim Harbaugh has expressed confidence that a fair resolution would be reached soon. Gore a consummate football junkie, returned in tremendous shape and dazzled during training camp.

"The guy just lives and breathes football," quarterback Alex Smith said this past week. "He loves this team, loves this organization and he's always ready to go."

Of course, if Gore, as reported by PFT, is unwavering in his desire to receive "DeAngelo Williams money" serious problems could be ahead.

The Panthers, shockingly, gave Williams a five-year, $43 million deal with $21 million guaranteed. Williams and Gore are both 28 years old and have battled injuries in recent years. Gore has missed nine games over the past three seasons while Williams has missed 13 games over the past two years, including 10 last season with a foot injury.

I'm assuming the Niners have noted that Gore has certainly withstood more punishment during his career. He has 1,371 career rushing attempts, 530 more than Williams.

As far as trading Gore, the Niners appear to have three serviceable, if unproven, backs behind him in Anthony Dixon, Kendall Hunter and Xavier Omon, a trio that has combined for 81 career rushing attempts.

Lol. I have been watching football since 1980, I am really old.

You must be in your really late 30's or early 40's, I took you for being much much younger.

Saw a couple of guys bring up Montana v Brady and thought, no way are these guys old enough to have enjoyed watching Montana play in his prime, guess I was wrong.

37. I remember watching Montana well. I will always hate him for a game against the Eagles where the Eagles were up 21 in the 4th quarter and Buddy kept sending the house and the 9ers came back to win. That was such a frustrating loss. I am sure there are some people here even older then I am.

It doesn't. No one wants to play there and it's obvious why. Look at all the crap that's happened there in just the last year, from the VY debacle to the ousting of Jeff Fisher. CJ's under contract and his only leverage at this point is to holdout. I guess he could demand a trade, but as discussed earlier, no one is going to trade for a disgruntled rb with an unsettled contract.

I think every year there should be a Pre-Season Super Bowl between the Texans and the Lions.

Let them win something for Gods sakes.
I want preseason win totals of the past 5 years. Lions gotta be number one.

I remember watching Montana in his prime and being jealous. Didn't help that we basically threw Marino out the door...

from espn: http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/6...dent-frank-gore-san-francisco-49ers-work-deal

"No, I don't sense unhappiness in Frank," Harbaugh said in a conference call on the heels of a 17-3 exhibition victory over the Oakland Raiders on Saturday night. "... Reports, conversations, talking points, things you're asking me, it all is and sounds like water-cooler talk to me. I'm not interested in it, in the water-cooler talk.

"I don't think there's any substance to the things you're asking me and the examples that you're citing. We'll deal with Frank man-to-man and won't listen to the water-cooler talk, so to speak, and deal with Frank and his agent," Harbaugh said. "Hopefully soon there's a deal that's fair for Frank and the 49ers. I'm looking forward to that and our organization is."

harbaugh handling things.

oh, and according to espn, THIS is jim harbaugh:

Alright GAF I set up my pre draft list now I need to test it out in a couple of mock drafts to tweak it.
If I couldn't make a draft live, I wouldn't play fantasy. It's the best part if the whole process.
