Gully State said:I honestly don't get the hype in Kevin Kolb. Other than his outing against the niners last year, he hasn't exactly shown much. It just seems like everyone is taking Reid's word for face value on the guy.
WanderingWind said:The thing with RBs is that yeah, 99% of the time they're a dime a dozen. But every so often there is one that is definitely worth paying for.
Is CJ that one? I dunno. The last one worth it was LT.

This has gone too damn far.

FrenchMovieTheme said:Here is what's happening (supposedly):
CJ: I want more monies
Titans Management: Sure, just show up to camp and start working and we'll figure it out.
CJ: No. I did this before and you still haven't paid me.
TM: Yeah but if you show up this time, seriously, we'll negotiate in good faith and make you the highest paid RB.
CJ: Why can't you just do that now, before I show up?
TM:I..... well... it's just thatOh yeah? Well we'll make some shit up and leak it to the media!
FrenchMovieTheme said:we will pay gore. people like to say that rb's are a dime a dozen, and when you're watching a highlight on espn they are. but there is a hell of a difference between a top RB who has good vision, catches the ball and picks up the blitz vs. a guy who you see break a sweet 50 yard TD run on sportscenter but gets your QB killed and averages 2 yards a carry if you take away the big run.
titans are absolutely fucked without CJ. not saying there isn't a rb in waiting who can't put the ball in the endzone several times and have a few hundred yard games but it isn't the same.
Gully State said:Not that I don't agree with you about Gore but the last few years, he's been the RB that averaged 2 yards a carry if you take away his 50 yard runs (His passblocking and pass catching has been superb though). Consistent runners are a byproduct of good runblocking. LT in his last few years as a charger did nothing b/c their o-line was crap when it came to run blocking. It's not a coincidence that he regained a bit of his form once he went to the Jets.
But yeah, we're 15 mil under the cap. Break some of that off for Gore.

TheFatOne said:So gaf is there any way I can practice an auto draft strategy? I have been reading about different strategies but there is no real way to test them that I could find. Won't be able to draft my team live.
I've seen it all my friend. I've been cheering for and watching Niners games likely before (or close to) when you were born.yankeehater said:I dont even think FMT is that positive. Report: Frustrated Gore could request trade
7
According to Pro Football Talk, Niners running back Frank Gore is "frustrated" that he's yet to receive a contract extension, the situation between the team and Gore's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, is "volatile" and a trade request could be next.
Wow. That doesn't sound promising, but there is a recent precedent for cooler heads to prevail when it comes to the Niners, Gore and his contract.
After all, Gore's training-camp holdout lasted just four days and there have been no obvious signs since that there is serious acrimony between the two-time Pro Bowl running back and the team.
On two occasions, coach Jim Harbaugh has expressed confidence that a fair resolution would be reached soon. Gore a consummate football junkie, returned in tremendous shape and dazzled during training camp.
"The guy just lives and breathes football," quarterback Alex Smith said this past week. "He loves this team, loves this organization and he's always ready to go."
Of course, if Gore, as reported by PFT, is unwavering in his desire to receive "DeAngelo Williams money" serious problems could be ahead.
The Panthers, shockingly, gave Williams a five-year, $43 million deal with $21 million guaranteed. Williams and Gore are both 28 years old and have battled injuries in recent years. Gore has missed nine games over the past three seasons while Williams has missed 13 games over the past two years, including 10 last season with a foot injury.
I'm assuming the Niners have noted that Gore has certainly withstood more punishment during his career. He has 1,371 career rushing attempts, 530 more than Williams.
As far as trading Gore, the Niners appear to have three serviceable, if unproven, backs behind him in Anthony Dixon, Kendall Hunter and Xavier Omon, a trio that has combined for 81 career rushing attempts.

Saw a couple of guys bring up Montana v Brady and thought, no way are these guys old enough to have enjoyed watching Montana play in his prime, guess I was wrong.
yankeehater said:How does it help the Titans re-sign their best player if they make up stories about how greedy the player is and leak them to the press? If I was CJ I would not want to re-sign with a team that was making up lies about me, and trying to make me look bad.

I remember watching Montana in his prime and being jealous. Didn't help that we basically threw Marino out the door...LJ11 said:You must be in your really late 30's or early 40's, I took you for being much much younger.

"No, I don't sense unhappiness in Frank," Harbaugh said in a conference call on the heels of a 17-3 exhibition victory over the Oakland Raiders on Saturday night. "... Reports, conversations, talking points, things you're asking me, it all is and sounds like water-cooler talk to me. I'm not interested in it, in the water-cooler talk.
"I don't think there's any substance to the things you're asking me and the examples that you're citing. We'll deal with Frank man-to-man and won't listen to the water-cooler talk, so to speak, and deal with Frank and his agent," Harbaugh said. "Hopefully soon there's a deal that's fair for Frank and the 49ers. I'm looking forward to that and our organization is."
