Yeah this is why you don't talk too much shit after week 2.

I am looking at you Equus....

So wrong. This is why you talk as much shit as you possibly can while the shit talkin' is good!

For exarkun
A few choice quotes from what I assume is the fourth quarter. And its worse when he is on primetime because more haters are watching.

Whats even funnier is that Manning did everything to win that game and the kick is in no way his fault, but he still gets some "manning face!!!"

Dude, I wasn't ripping Manning. But look at how the play clock issues were handled for Philly and for Indy. Same situation, one gets a penalty the other gets an apology. That's a league problem not a Manning (who happens to be my favorite non-Packer player to watch, by the way) problem.

Not really. I've been posting about their flaws since the start of the season.

I think the biggest surprise is not that the OL is bad, but just how bad they were last night.

whatever, exarkun was acting like everyone loves manning. I posted some quotes that show otherwise.

By my count (I re-watched the sacks earlier) the o-line only gave up 3.5 sacks (depending on how you classify a blocking TE). That's bad for sure, but not the apocalyptic total number.

Greg Olsen accounted for 2 on his own. The Ross blitz was on Cutler's failure in recognition (should have audibled). The rest were Cutler holding onto the ball too long.

I DO love Manning. The most intelligent and singularly dedicated football player I have ever seen.

While I agree to this, I find the Colts offense boring to watch. It's so mechanical.

There are no audibles in a Martz system. A poster earlier, captive?, also questioned route depth on play calls. It's all sight adjust and choice. A formation is called, receivers have a couple of options on every route, and the combos should defeat any defense called if everyone is on the same page. If you're not getting rid of the ball as soon as you hit the end of your drop, you're in trouble more often than not.

surely they still have protection audibles?

jesus, Kolb must have disrupted the family drug emporium or something.

Yeah, Cutler got sacked twice on 3-step drops with only 3 quick options to throw to. He needs to throw the ball out of bounds on the beat after the third step if no one is open. They called those plays specifically to try and get him into a rhythm and to release the ball quicker (I assume) and he just refused. It was really, really strange.

As to audibles...atrocious. That more than anything is probably why Martz teams always have the highest sack totals.

As someone who played the position (poorly I might add) and had to study film, I find what he is able to do simply fascinating.

His scheme is usually 6 man protection tops, and even the 6th man is going out on a delay. If he keeps more on a rare occasion, both are going out on delays. His system can't function efficiently with 3 routes, you want max routes.

Especially on the corner blitz where the receiver was left wide open in the flat.

That guy could get rich just by consulting potential draft entrants on how not to behave.

• If I weren’t a professional athlete, I’d ... “Be a neurosurgeon, but I’d be a traveling neurosurgeon."

Something I quickly drew up in Word. Typical Martz combos, multiple choice routes, and beaters everywhere. Dig/shallow cross to kill man or zone depending on depth, Dig/Post combo with front side wheel to kill quarters, cover 2 beaters everywhere. You get protection and capable QB/WRs, you get yards in chunks.

Thoughts on Steelers loss after having a day to think (cry) about it.

I don't see the false starts continuing to be a problem. Just having Ben's strong hands back behind center is going to instill the offense with a ton of confidence.

You need big strong hands to be a premier NFL qb, right FMT?

I, for one, would be prettied terrified at the thought of Ben's hands groping my ass every play.

Titans Chuck Cecil will be fined 40k for that middle finger.

http://blogs.tennessean.com/titans/2010/10/04/cecil-fined-40000-by-the-nfl/

Titans defensive coordinator Chuck Cecil has been fined $40,000 by the NFL for flipping the middle finger at officials during Sunday’s 26–20 loss to the Broncos.

According to the NFL, Cecil violated Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1 (b) of the Playing Rules, which prohibits use of abusive, threatening or insulting gestures toward officials.

Cecil’s obscene gesture was caught on camera by CBS.

For that amount he should have just run out with a steel chair and Mick Foley'd the ref.

Welli, we may be seeing more of Jacobs soon as it appears Bradshaw came out of the Bears game limping with a sore ankle.

http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&hl=184724&id=4305

Giants coach Tom Coughlin said Monday that he doesn't know if Ahmad Bradshaw's Week 4 ankle injury is related to either of the feet Bradshaw had surgically repaired in the offseason.

Coughlin also said the team is awaiting tests for confirmation on the injury's extent. The head coach referred to Bradshaw's sprain as "a little ankle" and confirmed that the running back is sore. Bradshaw is ticketed for at least limited practice time, but consider him probable to start at Houston.

Split the carries. Jacobs can pick up the blitz well, too, so he can help out Eli vs. Mario. God forbid Diehl is set on an island against another top tier DE.

Also curious how bad Hedgecock's injury is. MG said it doesn't sound good. Bear played FB pretty well in replacing Hedge, so I'm unsure where they will go. Jerome Johnson was the FB behind him in pre-season, and the last I read he was cut by the Cardinals; no idea if he was brought back or signed elsewhere.

I've been pointing these out since week 1. Don't generalize all bears fans by Equus's prior enthusiasm.

It pisses me off how many times Cutler misses the wide-open guy.

I dunno if he missed them all the time or wanted to find a deeper receiver.

Cutler likes to bomb it. He needs to throw shorter completions.

I won't be surprised if he got his bell rung a little earlier than we are suspecting. That is the only explanation I can come up with because Cutler has never been afraid to start slanging it in the face of pressure. Sometimes when you get that mild concussion early on the game becomes a little too fast for the qb and they just stand there a little too long with that confused look on their face.

This is a likely scenario. While the Bears officially said it was the last hit which concussed Jay, it sounds like it might have happened in the first quarter. This is why he looked so out of it on some plays in the second quarter.

Brandon Manumaleuna seems like a waste of money at the moment. His fat ass was brought in to block but he lets everyone go by him. Martz better start changing up his scheme and adapt like he did in the Dallas game. Not sure why he was so arrogant to keep trying those 7 step drops when Cutler was getting destroyed.

Don't worry, your man will come back, the Bears will win again, and the antidepressants will have reached therapeutic levels.

I was actually surprised by how well Bear played. I want to rewatch the game tonight and key in on the interior line and FB play but he put up some good blocks.

Oh and I read this on ESPN:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5648828

Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen has been told by the NFL to rein in his calf-roping act every time he gets a sack.

Allen said Monday that he found out before Minnesota's last game that his signature celebration is against league rules because he goes to the ground while doing it. Touching the turf with his knee is considered unsportsmanlike conduct, he said.
Seriously?

You think the wildcat be effective against the Pats? Sparano still has faith in it even though the fins made so strange calls last week against the Jets.

I don't think we'll only run out of the wildcat like we pretty much did last week. While I want us to get away from it now that we actually have a potential passing game I think it working on the Jets D and the Pats D are two very different things.

Who is this you guys? And they got to the playoffs with AP.

Tuck is on WFAN and he says after the second Osi sack (not sure what sack number that was), he noticed Cutler getting woozy and apparently Cutler started walking towards the Giants bench before he was rerouted to his own bench by a teammate.

Speaking of dreams come true, HE IS BACK! HE IS FINALLY BACK AND NOW EVERYTHING IS GOING TO BE OK!

3-1 just wasn't the same without him.
