I think they're fine but I think you have to be a huge dumbass to celebrate a big play against the Colts when they're on offense. *Cough* dunta robinson *cough* Manning will make you pay for it every time unless its a sack.Futurevoid said:So where do folks stand on post play celebrations? Either after a TD, Sack, monster tackle etc.?
I was at work today and a few of us got into heated discussion on the topic (yes we're bored:lol ). One guy was vehement on absolutely hating them and thinking they have no place in the game. Says they are "unprofressional" and these guys are at work etc. I made the point that when these guys are in the trenches, us fans likely don't hear 80% of the shit talking going on and considering how much emotion is part of the game - I think celebrations are well within reason as long as they are not excessive or done intentionally done to the face of the opposing teams player/players.
This person got alarmingly annoyed and asked "would you behave like that at work?" and I just didn't understand how someone could ask something so obtuse. As if my day time desk job was in some way shape or form comparable to what NFL players do in and out.
I'm a fan of class and being humble but at the same time, it's football and there's a place for some gloating and "rubbing it in" as it were. It's a competitive sport for god sakes!
He actually lost a lot of weight. He hasn't looked this slim since his 2nd season.Buckethead said:Is it just me or has Ben gotten fatter?
Well his primary exercise regiment of raping women, hiding evidence, and getting sacked has been pretty restricted as of late...
So I guess I shouldn't be surprised that he's out of shape.

I love Manning, but the whole "Manning face" is all in good fun for me. Never blamed him for the loss or anything like that because without him, that Colts team wouldn't win more than 5-6 games.captive said:For exarkun
A few choice quotes from what I assume is the fourth quarter. And its worse when he is on primetime because more haters are watching.
Whats even funnier is that Manning did everything to win that game and the kick is in no way his fault, but he still gets some "manning face!!!"
I like celebrations. I like team celebrations and choreographed dance moves. I agree that the props are stupid, but anything short of that is fair game to me.DeaconKnowledge said:I don't have a problem with celebrations, as long as they don't get too excessive. The use of props took it WAY too far, for example.
Keeping that in mind, I think I like it most when the player hits the endzone, then just hands the ball to the official. IMO that says more than any dance or act ever could.

LJ11 said:Define the word close.
I've heard they contacted the Bills, people I trust haven't indicated that a trade is imminent with either GB or Philly.
Definitely expect him to be traded, not sure when though.
It is ok to celebrate sacks (and it serves a purpose because it might distract the ref from the fact that you just touched the qb), but you look retarded when you celebrate a routine tackle or a first down (unless you play for the Bills, then it is ok to celebrate these "feats" because lets face it, that is probably as good as it is going to get).DeaconKnowledge said:Unless it's 3rd down, I think celebrating sacks is stupid too. Love watching Jared Allen rope 'em up then get torched for 20 yards.

Not cool. Hopefully Bigby will be fired up and actually be able to stay on the field. Next 2 weeks are going to be rough though. (particularly next week against the first proper QB we've seen all year)Buckethead said:Damnit, Morgan Burnett is out for the season. Not good.
Ted Thompson is probably doing what Ted Thompson usually does, e.g. not making any moves that would put his team over the top.Gigglepoo said:Wait, the Eagles are getting Marshawn? What is Packers management doing? And how badly hurt is Pierre Thomas in NO?

Marshall is ranked 5th in receptions.
As long as the Fins stop Brady's 3rd down conversions and fuck up their horrible secondaries, then we should win.
yankeehater said:Close was the word they used on TV so I have no idea how close they actually are. They did say that if a deal does happen it would be sooner rather then later since the coaches want him to practice with the O this week before he would play against the 9'ers. I just dont know what they would give up for a guy that might only start for 2 or 3 weeks.
True, it will be interesting to see how it shakes.Elfforkusu said:Not cool. Hopefully Bigby will be fired up and actually be able to stay on the field. Next 2 weeks are going to be rough though. (particularly next week against the first proper QB we've seen all year)
As much as I'd like an explosive power RB (even though I love Kuhn like you and most Packer-GAF know), I'm pleased with Ted's frugality in these situations.Elfforkusu said:Ted Thompson is probably doing what Ted Thompson usually does, e.g. not making any moves that would put his team over the top.

Damn, would've loved to have him for veteran depth. He didn't want to be demoted so instead he asks for his release. Bummer.
Taylor Mays future!
More of a factual and historical basis. Seeing as how you think Kolb is a good player I don't think it is something that would interest you.yankeehater said:So what is all this talk about Brady not playing well in Miami, is there a statistical basis for it?
