NHL February |OT| FIRE ALL THE THINGS

I want Nash. Players like him don't come around often. Don't want to give up too much of the future, with all the traded picks it's tough to justify that.

Schenn, Lupul + ???

I'm fine with trading those two pieces.

Nash's biggest strengths are Toronto's biggest weaknesses. He's a perfect fit here. Leafs let in a lot of goals, but a lot of it has to do with the style of the forwards. Puts way too much stress on the defense.

It won't solve all of the Leafs problems, but no one player will.

Exactly.

FIRE WILSON!

So.. apparently Detroit is interested in Moen and would give up Xavier Ouellet (2nd round draftee in 2011), and a 2nd in 2012 for him.

I know Montreal would like to keep him. But would you guys take it for Moen?

And that fits the description of the offer that Toronto received for Grabovski... wonder if it's the same.. Dreger said it was a 2nd and a prospect..
Funny some "montreal insider" on twitter said this about 3-4 days ago, I never paid any real attention to him but he did break this, pretty interesting.....as for the trade, I don't know much about Ouellet, but wouldn't be surprised if Montreal holds onto Moen unless they get a really great offer. He's our 2nd best PKing forward, and we'll just have to replace him next year if they do move him.

Canes kicking some Caps ass. Nice. Staal has a 3 point night. Still gonna wind up in the basement, but so happy to see them playing hard for Muller. Is it the 2012-2013 season yet?

Considering recent circumstances, I really hate any situation that involves me pumping Brodeurs tyres even the tiniest bit. But I really have to give him props for this..

Martin Brodeur's 81-year-old father was "diagnosed with a serious condition that required him to undergo brain surgery on Friday." The New Jersey Devils goalie said that playing through this has been therapeutic.

Already a huge amount of mental coordination required for goaltending, and to have that at the back of your head AND play through it while excelling?

Sheeeeit.

Do not want for that, I hope that isn't the case at all. Ouellet has some potential and since we just drafted him, I wouldn't really want to lose him already. Hopefully Holland isn't that stupid, plus we would have so many bottom 6 forwards at the moment it just doesn't make sense. Not to say he wouldn't help us but idk for that price and what we all have right now.

It's becoming more evident that Wilson's system is a major issue. I don't think I'd be wrong if I said that the Leafs play a more open style than any other team in the league right now, and that necessitates mistake-free hockey from the defencemen, which is pretty much an impossibility. I'm positive that the same six guys, if put on almost any other team in the league, would be considered a solid group of defencemen.

It's time to either let Wilson (and Zettler) go or tighten up the system, because the closer we get to the playoffs, the harder it'll be to run n' gun to victory.

I hope this is false.

So the Canes just shutdown the Caps (with their backup) on what was a pretty important game for them.

First off, Sundin >>>>>>>>Nash
Second, the quote isn't saying that NOBODY has done it, but that it's rarefied air.

"Among players in their age 28 to 33 seasons, there have been just six players in the modern era who have hit that 25-goal, 65-point mark (Brett Hull, Guy Lafleur, Jaromir Jagr, Jean Pronovost, Rick Middleton and Yvan Cournoyer) but just one player has done it in all six: Iginla."

This quote? Seems to be passing it off as fact.

Sundin did it.

Alfredsson almost did it, 24g in 68gp.

Sundin did it. He was 20x the player Nash is. Just because Sundin did it, don't expect Nash to do it. These are the exceptions that prove the rule.

Habs had a big tribute to Gary Carter (MLB Hall of famer) who died last week from brain cancer, and who Brodeur grew up watching as well, pretty crazy stuff.

ok, so what's the entire quote on that statistic?...because i'm a few beers in at this point, but it reads like he's suggesting that the 7 players listed there are the only guys to ever score at least 25g and 65p at some point between ages 28 and 33.

I don't subscribe to it. That was just saw that quote from a blurb on ESPNNewyork.

Ya, could also be something that forces you to focus on hockey that much more to get it off your mind. Hope everything turns out alright for him.

"He hits very cleanly". The fuck?

ok, let's all agree that ESPN is garbage and move on.

never been suspended! what a great guy!

:lol Ya, fucking lady bing nominee right there. If Datsyuk wasn't in the league he'd win every year...

And ya, at least I don't feel so bad for not understanding that stat either. I can't see only 5 people or whatever ever doing that.

What the hell happened?

Zoning out coach? New pieces not fitting in? Miller secret injury? Trap not as effective? Can't score enough in today's speed game?

Dunno, devils are playing pretty well for trap not working... And Miller has looked good in the games I've seen him in but I don't see them play much.

According to NHL.com Carolina is still behind Buffalo? Still confusing.

http://www.nhl.com/ice/standings.htm?type=con#&navid=nav-stn-conf

They might not have updated the standings. Or in this case, Buffalo has less games played than Carolina so Buffalo wins in the tie-breaker. Scroll down for the tie-breaker procedures.

Misread, thought they didn't update the standing. They apparently did so buffalo is safe... for now...

Oh I meant, confusing that Buffalo is in risk/close to being last. Would have never expected that at the beginning of the season. I figured it was less games played to give Buffalo the tiebreak atm.

They have more wins too for the same amount of points. Buffalo definitely has tie breaker.
