What? The Flames didn't get a single good change on Bryz for pretty much the entire last half of the game. Even their shootouts attempts were limp as hell.

LOL I dont know if you are serious or not, but he can only stop the shots that he faces. He stared out horrible and then he stopped pretty much everything he faced.

Oh and Bruce you are so fucking sad, you keep trying to call me Tabris but I am not some fucking moron like that loser is. I love that Flyers and I like the moves that have made but I can also point out when things dont work out. I have never said anything as stupid as destiny or that Mike Richards is good. Sorry I am not negative enough for you, but should you have gotten your Kings jersey by now any way?

This is the guy praising Bryz. I said from the beginning that the Flyers were LIKELY a 4/5 team when the team they HAD was a 1/2 team. Yet somehow you dispute this despite ALL THE EVIDENCE saying otherwise. That's fine, but you don't back up ANYTHING. All you talk about is some nebulous "reason" Homer must have had for dealing Richards/Carter/Betts/Powe/etc.

I'm sure there were REASONS for the decision. I get the reasoning. However, everything we've seen shows they were WRONG! You rag on me for being "negative" but I've said plenty of times there is lots of upside to lots of players on this team, but the cap situation ties our hands in a lot of very serious ways which you don't address. Pronger's contract. Timmo and Briere's age. Emulating Jagr's production in the future. Schenn's development progressing as necessary. Rather than address these things you just assume things will go well. That is per se irrational. So no, I'm not negative. I just base what I say on things that actually happen.

Look at you crazy Flyers fans, fighting among yourselves. As if you have real problems to argue about.

What? You were the one arguing that the Flyers could get out of Prongers contract. I hope Bryz plays better but I have called him out many times this year for his terrible play, even tonight I said he was horrible on the first 3 goals. I absolutely dispute that they would have been a 1/2 team if they had brought the same team from last year back. We are always going to disagree about Richards. I dont like him and I am glad they got rid of him. I would take Simmonds over him any day. I like the moves that Homer has made and I am happy with the direction the team is moving in, I know you dont agree with that and I hope you are wrong. I cant see the future and neither can you, but I hope I am right.

And he faced shitty shots. There were only 10 shots on goal against Philly for the last half of the game plus OT, all of them low quality garbage. Bryz stopped them, but so could my grandma. That's not "playing really well", he did nothing impressive in this game.

Gotta start somewhere. All it takes is a win to boost confidence and you're right back in it.

Ok. I am sorry the degree of difficulty doesnt meet your high standards, but compared to a normal Byrz night I am happy with tonights performance.

You said it perfectly.

"...so then you get on your knees as quickly as possible, give them the top half of the net, and stick your elbows out. If my math is right, there's a chance they might not score."

I want to laugh but it's probably exactly how it's being done in Toronto.

"You are a peacock, spread your wings and nothing can beat you"

Wilson, for Burke, is amazingly above criticism, as the large one never seems to want to expose his little buddy to the unflattering glare of a performance review. At least there are some in the media that are now loudly proclaiming B&W to be an abject failure as a partnership. Maybe that will spur our largely shitty GM into action.

I hate the flyers more than anyone, ok

Why? The offense is awesome, they have a bunch of good young pieces, they have added to the defense, they tried to address the goaltending, and they should get a bunch of cap relief in the offseason. I really dont get why people hate the team this year, they have had much worse years lately.

It's kind of funny... When he came here he was all "the fans will jump on our backs, not the players"

It's like he doesn't remember how bad leafs fans can get... Like with Larry Murphy or jyrki lumme (why didn't we do that with lebda)

But when we finally did what he prophesized he's deflecting lol

Fucking Penguins fans.

You mean the year they went to the SCF and the year they were like two points away from the President's trophy?

O and the offense was awesome last year... what's your point?

You mean the year they went to the SCF and the year they were like two points away from the President's trophy?

You are to funny, last year they were horrible down the stretch, barely made it out of the first round, and then got swept in the 2nd round. All this years team has to do is win one game in the 2nd round to eclipse last years team. I cant wait until it happens. :)

When's the last time a GM has ripped the coach of his team?

I don't know. I really only pay enough attention to two teams to notice something like that.

I guess my annoyance stems from how Burke actively defends his coach in the face of clear evidence some of the team's problems are coming right from the management level. His duplicitous comments to TSN (I think) about how Wilson has fixed the PK problem a few weeks ago are one example.

edit: I just read my first and only Damien Cox article. BLECH! Do the editors at the Star really consider his incoherent drivel 'writing'?

They are in a slump just like last year though. They were something like 13-13-4 in the last 30before tonight after being right at the top of the conf. In January.

They had to pull their starting goalie 7 times in 11 games in years playoffs. I'm worried they might break that record this year if they even get there/get out of the first round

I dont disagree with any of that. They were terrible last year at the end of the season/playoffs, and they could be even worse this year, but there is still a lot of time left before they get to that point. I just dont get hating this team. They have shown a ton of fight and have added some guys that are easier to root for. I have no illusions about the winning the cup this year, the Rangers are going to do that, but at least I believe they will put up more of a fight and are moving in the right direction.

I can't remember one noteworthy save. Calgary barely got any shots on net after scoring 4.

Did you watch the whole game? None of the saves in OT or the SO were note worthy? Even the mundane saves are a big improvement over a normal Bryz night.

Ripping Wilson in the media would be unprofessional. Why would any coach want to sign with a Burke team if he would throw a coach under the bus?

Pretty happy about Calgary being held to a point. Need Dallas to lose tomorrow and LA to lose monday. Goddamnit avs, when is this shit gonna end? I'd like to see you guys earn a playoff spot based mostly on merit rather than mostly on other team's failures. Been awhile since that's happened.

Malkin after sniping one past Roloson following Roloson punching him in the head.

He just stared him down with that "What now, bitch?" expression on his face. When asked about it after the game, he said "I wanted him to see my face".

What. A. Fucking. Boss. I can't even handle what a badass he is sometimes.

No, no - I don't mean 'ripping' or whatever. I mean it's remarkably annoying to have Burke actively stump for Wilson. He doesn't have to and shouldn't.

Finally home, my take on the night:

1. Dat goal/performance by Malkin

2. Dat Karlsson, as usual.

3. Dat Landeskog, I wonder how RNH will do once he's back, one of them deserves the Calder.

4. Would Toronto/Philly make a move for Schneider? Watching the goals against, it was sad. I feel bad dang, so many softies.

5. Dat hit on Boychuk, glorious.

I dont think the Flyers would make a move for Schnedider because they would have to give up to much to get him.

Landeskog is our most well rounded forward, does all of the right things and eats up a ton of ice time. RNH is an offensive powerhouse but his defensive game isn't great and he's not really a physical presence. We'll see how the rest of the season goes, but I kinda think Landeskog is a lock for the Calder right now.

I watched the entire game. "Bryz played really well after struggling early" doesn't reflect the game. Maybe "Bryz had a bad game but at least did well in the shootout."

As for Schneider, I remember trying to convince you guys that Schneider for JVR+ would be fair. I withdraw that suggestion. Schneider would get a better return than that. ;)

RNH was back today. He scored.

:'(

Man...we are fucked unless something is done.

The season is over. There is absolutely no chance in hell that the team on the ice the past 9 games is capable of winning 14-15 out of 20 remaining games in order to get into the playoffs. Not only that, but the remaining teams in the hunt for that final playoff spot would need to have epic meltdowns in order for Toronto to squeeze in.

Leafs not making the playoffs this year is unacceptable. Burke and Wilson need to go. Burke for giving subpar players high contracts which turns other teams away to potential trades, and Wilson for the inability to keep a team who began the year doing well, firing on all cylinders.

Any one who defends Wilson needs to have their head checked. Reimer gets hurt, and instead of going with Gustavsson, the actual backup goalie, he goes with Scrivens. Way to give your #1 backup confidence. Then when he does put him in the net, and he saves their bacon, what happens after the very first loss after a week break for the All Star Game? He gives the start to Reimer the next game. Way to instill confidence. Then he proceeds to keep rotating the goalies on a per game basis, where neither one can gain any confidence.

As far as I'm concerned right now, the only two untouchable players on this team are Kessel and Gardiner. Everyone else is expendable.

Heck, if they had given Cliff Fletcher the reins, we would have a playoff calibur team at this point.

Why the fuck do you keep bringing up Betts? He is on LTIR with bad knees and his spot was taken by Read and Couturier who are already better players with far more upside anyway.

I think I'd like to move briere if they could. He's a playoff stud and could really help a contender as a rental. Flyers aren't doing anything if they even make the playoffs, Danny isn't getting any younger, and it clears up a lot of cap.

I would have liked to have seen them do that, and not trade draft picks for rental defensemen, but every year might be Snider's last so they always try to paper over the cracks even when it's clear they have almost zero chance to do anything in the playoffs.

I just hope they don't face the Rangers and get swept 12-0 on the season.

Yeah avoiding the Rangers is huge for me to. They are such a good team this year.

Disagree. As of now Florida/Washington/Toronto have played like complete crap the last few weeks. Doesn't look like any of these teams may even get to 90 points as it is now.

Winnipeg has been playing great, but they are at home. Looks like their last 18/19 games are split home and away equally so what will decide the playoffs for them will be how they do in the away games.

Wow.

Really? Fire Burke for not making the playoffs this year? That's some delusional thinking right there man. Didn't know just squeaking into 8th is the standard here to decide on his job.

I think you forget how terrible Gustavsson was during that stretch as well and why they even put Scrivens out there.

As far as I'm concerned right now, the only two untouchable players on this team are Kessel and Gardiner. Everyone else is expendable.

Heck, if they had given Cliff Fletcher the reins, we would have a playoff calibur team at this point.

Jeff Finger.

I guess the Leafs are going to be sellers? Sucks to be out of the playoffs but it's either buy and try to make it or sell and see where the team goes.

Ron Wilson has to go, however. Not everything may be his fault but this is his fourth season coaching the Leafs. It's time for a new face behind the bench.

They're still only 3 points out is the thing though.

I don't really think they'll be selling or buying really but just looking for deals that help the team out.

Unless they're way off in the Grabo negotiations he's not going to move. And after that really there isn't anyone else on the team that another team would really be targetting for a playoff push.

If we believe Burke, he has not offered Schenn in any deals but teams are calling inquiring about him.

Some teams have interest in Colby Armstrong according to Sportsnet's Daren Millard. We must as well trade him if there's an offer. He's healthy but he's a healthy scratch. Up until Saturday's game but I just get the idea that was a showcase.
