Nibellion leaving Twitter

Never heard off him but when someone leaves Twitter (in hope it will die some day) I feel like

Happy Joy GIF by South Park

I'm sorry for this loss, the guy was a good source of news and he will be missed. If something, I think twitter has absolutely failed in making their creators monetize in the same way the other platforms do.
It's a shame someone can have millions of followers but still need to go somewhere else to make money. There's a huge opportunity to make it a creators-driven platform instead of advertisers driven. I don't understand the $20 for being verified, but I'm sure better tools

Also, I have 2 different Twitter accounts. One of them is a piece of crap with many people on both sides of wokeness fighting to make sure China wins. The other one is about science, programming, tech, game development and it's pretty nice. It's not the platform, it's you.

The idea of people leaving Twitter because now Musk owns it is laughable. They'll all be back. Most of these people are absolutely nothing outside of Twitter. They don't have form in real life.

At first I was like, I would have supported this guy, I remember him but I thought he went away. Then I realised he blocked me on Twitter because I had a different political opinion.

Go woke, go broke in full effect.

No one's leaving because of Musk. People are addicted to the platform and some will claim to(for attention and to virtue signal), but still lurk.

A little sad, but ultimately not a big deal in the huge gamerscape. If journalist are morning his Twitter death, it's because now they have to do actual research to find out some of the dirt that only Jason Schrier will now write about.

Fuck sake, couldn't sound any more sour about it. Did he only share news? Not sure how he expected to get by just doing that through Twitter. I thought he did it for fun in spare time, not as an actual job… Seems like it was inevitable.

If you want to make money doing that kind of gig it seems like you need a big personality attached to whatever it is you're doing and I don't remember seeing that.

Musk is cover.

He felt he was entitled and wanted to cash in on the grift and he couldn't do it nor did he have a good plan to monetize his (others) content outside a Patreon page. Now that he realized he can't make money off people he is leaving, twitter 101 happens all the time when people gain clout with a sizable following.

If someone disagree with me let me ask you why he's permanently leaving twitter entirely, and won't even consider periodically posting his (others) content just as a hobby or as a fan of video games? Exactly.

Made this meme that sums up my thoughts on this "news".

Surprised you guys don't know considering his tweets are in a majority of threads when it came to rumors especially.
I know who he is - he was one of those people who had like 50 posts a day on GAF, but then moved to Twitter/Era after the exodus and wasted his time on there instead.

I just wanted an excuse to post that gif lol

He had nothing to monetize.

Nobody young is using Twitter, brah. It's all ageing boomers and creaking millennials who think they're young.
I thought when Twitter went big that reading and writing a whopping 160 characters at a time pretty much heralded "peak stupid." But in my shortsightedness, I had no idea that the next generation would somehow be even worse. At least 160 characters is still technically reading and writing. Now people think communication consists of dancing and lip-syncing on an app that tracks you on behalf of the Chinese government and are triggered by things like a "thumbs ups" emoji.

I really don't want to know what comes next :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Except for the paragraph where he basically blames Musk.

Was going to say exactly this. My only concern with musk is if my original account from 2009 is brought back as a result of his take over. If so... I'm open to moving him up a notch to slimeball from maggot. :)

Take hope in the fact that even among their peer group the brain-fried TikTokers are looked down on. Think about it: 16 years old today are watching their dipshit parents make fools of themselves in front of the entire world.

You ever wanted to copy your parents when you were 16?

Privacy and decorum are coming back. Gen alpha will save us yet.

I don't 'do' Twitter so I don't know who this chap is however when I go to bed tonight is the sun likely to rise tomorrow or not?

Good for him.

Most people who try to make a living like that would probably jump on an outrage bandwagon for clicks, rather than just admit defeat and move on to something else.

I don't know who Paul Tassi is but he's clearly a douche living in a bubble considering what we found out today with DHS and their coordination with Big Tech to control the narrative on things.

Imagine thinking that trolling is more dangerous than the power of the federal government being used to suppress speech.

I feel like Musk will absolutely be the death of Twitter. But equally, I don't think it was particularly alive before.

I won't miss it when it's gone.

He came from this forum, was a nobody, must've been a pure NEET and just kept regurgitating second hand gaming news until he started amassing follows for being quick on the draw. A Patreon for being talentless? Open an Onlyfans instead dude.

That a guy whose only value was to basically just repost stuff from other media in a condensed way (tweet) and a lot of people caring about it, just shows how bad this industry needs a good simple gaming site that just gives its users a quick up to speed look at gaming related news without all the bloat journalist sites have on top of it.

Million dollar idea, yeah I know, if anyone wants to do it call me, I'll make the graphics for it. Don't miss on this hot deal!

Another who.gif

Imagine paying someone on patreon to tweet public news.

And the guy says it wasn't enough to keep going, LOL.

"richest man in the world is childish" says guy trying to make a living off tweeting about video games :messenger_loudly_crying: :messenger_grinning_squinting:
Even worse. Retweeting news. Seems everyone says the guy wasnt even a rumour digger, leaker or did his own articles. All he did was scrounge the net for the latest news bites and retweet.

Sort of a weird takeaway. People would rather digest information on a platform (Twitter) they use regularly rather than seeking out a dedicated website, no matter how simple the layout, for convenience alone. As a related example, I can't remember the last time I visited CAG, but I check Wario64's feed on the regular. It's also the only reason I use the platform. It's why these gaming websites have Twitter feeds and post their content in Youtube.

I mean, you just gave the solution to the problem in your own post.
There's a reason most sites have a Twitter/TikTok/YouTube/etc account apart from their own platform.

The key here is not about the platform, it's about how they take on it, giving quick, simple and condensed info on the topics a person is interested in, in the platforms their regularly use, rather than the usual clickbaity title with a link to their site where the info is bloated in order to put their ads in between (same with video media, where a 5/10min video could be condensed to 30/60secs).

No. You are trying to get an audience to go somewhere they normally wouldn't instead of going where the audience already is.

Except for the paragraph where he basically blames Musk.
He really doesn't though. He does say he doesn't trust Musk to provide good leadership for the platform, but also mentions that he doesn't think Twitter has ever had good leadership. What that hypothetical good leadership would actually involve isn't really addressed, of course. But the whole Musk thing really doesn't seem like the main reason he's leaving. It sounds like he just accepts his own inability to make some decent money from curating gaming news on twitter.

His goodbye was a fair bit more nuanced than I expected. It also makes me wonder if Musk might end up creating a built in "tip jar" or allowing users to create their own private subscriber only areas on Twitter to compete with Patreon.

I mean which Twitter account made more money?
Nibel
or
Fuck Jerry which simply stole jokes and memes

Edit:
I also love to see that cope and gaslighting that Twitter was always doomed so whatever like lol

Twitter already has that. He was active enough with enough followers to make use of it, not Twitter's fault he never used it.
