Nielsen's Most Anticipated Games for 2016

are sun & moon gonna be counted as 1 sku or 2 come november npd? If they count as 1, I think they'd give COD a run for the top seller

Let's see.

ACS 95%: The game bombed
NFS 92%: Sales were not good
RoTTR 80%: Bombed
Halo 5 100%: The sales were not even close to what the number suggests.

ACS still sold very well, it just didn't sell AC numbers, so that doesn't really make the list inaccurate.

Halo was still BY FAR, the best selling XB1 exclusive, despite underperforming. And RotR was likewise the second best selling exclusive.

I think you're just looking at the list incorrectly. It's not supposed to represent how many units those games will sell, but their rank in their respective category.

Although I find WD2 not being the third best selling game highly unlikely.

Man, this holiday lineup isn't looking so hot. I think Civ VI is the only game I'm sure to buy the rest of the year.

Valkyrie Drive and Superdimension Neptune VS Sega Hard Girls off the top of my head, not sure if there are others.

Given that Gears of War 4 apparently qualifies as an exclusive despite being on PC I would offer up Yowari Night Alone as an alternative.

Considering that "holiday" is loosely defined here, I'd say Valkyrie Drive or Neptunia would also be choices. Yomawari is also a choice since they're not counting PC ports in terms of "exclusives".

So basically the same type of "vita" game expect for Yowari. I can't blame Yowari for not being on there because I didn't even realize it released already.

What corner of the internet is actually excited about a new numbered Final Fantasy?
I sincerely hope some of you are joking. Ff Aint no juggernaut anymore but you ppl have lost your minds if you think it's still not a big franchise

But than again I'm sure people are confused as to why watch dogs 2 and cod are up there. Only real odd one is the last guardian

Sounds strange.

Purchase intent is a major factor of this list and last year's list shows that they are not even close to being accurate.

No idea why this year somehow should get a pass for them being so off.

If that were the case FFXV would qualify too. It's just a matter of not being a focused game outlet + the version releasing by itself. Though it amusing they got it right last year with it being a multiplatform title.

oh, nielsen messed up then

I'm a bit confused/ignorant, since there seems to be an ecchi community here on GAF; what about Criminal Girl's makes it so egregious? I sort of feel like the PS Vita has kinda embraced being the place for skeevy vouyeristic games.

I think the girls are on the young side or it was something like that. Someone who played might be better at telling you tho the first one was banned here wasn't it?

Basically the younger girls in it, which is one of the main reasons why Moe Chronicles got banned as well and to a lesser extent Dungeon Travelers. Skeeve alone isn't enough to ban a game considering Senran Kagura and DoAX are allowed, it's when young characters are involved is when it's too much.

I'm pretty libertine in terms of what fictional stuff it's okay for people to get off to, but I totally understand people being queasy about that sort of thing. I heard Gal*Gun involves underage girls too though, and that seems above board to talk about here.

For the record I think NeoGAF has the right to set the standard to not allow discussion of stuff they believe promotes/enables pedophilia. I may not agree with the argument of harm, but communities have a right to define what values they wish to promote and discourage. I wish more libertarians understood that personally.

It was mostly a combination of some of the girls in a couple of the banned games looking too young in the mods' opinions and the rubbing minigames involved that got them banned. In DT2's case it was because of the shitstorm when the censorship of the western version was announced and someone made a thread complaining about how pedo the game looked. The Japanese version had an OT up for months and no one even posted any lewd images or anything so it was fine.

Seems pretty silly to get upset about; US Content Boards are notorious for their prudishness, and Sony refuses to allow games that are Adult's Only to be sold on their system. There's no way it could have been released here in it's original state.

Part of the confusion to me, vis a vis Criminal Girls, is I've seen news blurbs for the game fairly often on ANN. ANN isn't exactly the most bottoned up site, but it's no Senkaku Complex.

that says more about the kind of people who go to anime sites these days than it does about the relative lack of 'prudishness' in criminal girls haha

I mean I wouldn't think they'd report on an outright pedophilic eroge. But again I'm pretty ignorant of how these things work. I'm pretty live and let live FWIW.

The Nielsen Game Rank™ represents the overall anticipation level among gamers on each platform, based on a combination of several key measures (including Awareness, Purchase Interest, Consumer Rating and others). The percent value shown reflects how strong the anticipation level is for the title, relative to the pre-release anticipation levels of all previous titles that released on the platform(s).

In other words Gears 4's anticipation level is 99% of every Xbox one game before it. Or even simpler terms: "It means nothing because that's a dumb way to use percentages."

A better way would to ask your survey group which games they are most anticipating for the platforms they own and then say, "99% of Xbox Owner's surveyed are anticipating Gears 4"

Disclosure of my own: I'm anti Nielsen, but I have valid reasons.
