The lock-on is weird, it should have an option to automatically select another enemy when the one you were locking on is dead. And the camera feels really bad without lock-on (which you can't use on hard difficulty and above). The camera position isn't great but it has options to control the viewing distance at least, so I'll probably have to do some changes there or maybe switch the square/triangle to the shoulder buttons so I can control the camera while attacking. The default settings aren't doing this game any favours.
Not a fan of the transparent letterboxing during the cutscenes.
Also I absolutely sucked at dodging the giant hand saws when both started attacking sideways. Definitely not gonna be playing this game above the normal difficulty. LOL.
It's not as in depth as Bayo or Revengeance (and I don't expect it to be) but it's super fun and it's got that Platinum game feel to it. I expect Scalebound to be the same. I still think this game has the potential to be the greatest game ever made. Platinum quality gameplay with the writing quality of Nier.
Just finished the demo, yeah that's definitely a day one purchase. Game is going to be good, my biggest problem with the first was the combat wasn't always great....but with Platinum making the combat in this game it's easily going to be great.

It wouldn't really work with this game. You get different combos depending on whether you hold the buttons or mash them, and there's no Wicked Weave equivalent so it isn't really necessary. Combos are a lot more like Revengeance than Bayo.
It's been awhile since I've had some quality Platinum action, and after controlling both Noctis in FFXV and the boy in TLG recently (though I know the boy's movement was intentional), it's such a joy to play a character that controls so effortlessly, and so responsively. Playing as 2B feels fantastic. Even going up and down ladders was so seamless, sob.
2B continues the glorious Taro (and Platinum) tradition of badass motherfucking female lead. I'm still completely in love with her walk cycle and battle stances, 100% no bullshit. 9S is a sweetheart, I was pleased how much I liked them both. Pod 042 was great, too. I went with the localization at first (love me some 8-4), but I'll do a replay with the Japanese voices. The UI was great. Very clean in the menus, but also had a little bit of flavor in-game that kept reminding you that you were playing as an android.
Only Taro
would have a demo finish with both leads dying, ha. I guess that means we'll be playing multiple versions of 2B and 9S throughout the game?
Boss battle was fantastic,
I loved the various stages of it.
The game manages to still feel like the original Nier, whilst having that polished Platinum touch. The soundtrack in-game and in the PSN menu is fantastic. I really wished they hadn't kept the letterbox overlay in the cutscenes, though, I hated it in the original Nier, annnnd I still hate it now.
