Night Mind - CAMDROME: The Vanishing Webcam Killer Game

Hey Gaf, this is my first thread so please be gentle. :)

A favorite YouTuber of mine, a Mr. Nick Nocturne has made a really interesting video about the very strange indie game phenomena that is CamDrome.

Some you may remember CamDrome first appearance at Pax Prime 2013. If you don't, here's a small recap.

At Pax Prime's Indie Dev booth a single small space was occupied by a small white monitor with a top mounted webcam and computer tower that were drenched in blood.

As seen here:

The monitor played several disturbing videos of people recorded on webcams who all met an untimely end by either murder, suicide, or glitches. Each video also featured a cloaked figure sporting a doll-like mask. The footage can be seen here

Nick Nocturne does a fantastic job researching this game and explaining it better than I could ever hope to. The ARG rabbit hole is deeper than I think anyone would have expected So please, give the video a watch. It also should be noted that CamDrome's Twitter is still active and seems to be the main way of interacting with the games ARG. So maybe those of you with twitters are brave enough to stir the sleeping dragon here. Who know's maybe we'll learn something new about the game and the mysteries behind it.

(On a side note, If you enjoy horror I'ed highly recommend Nick's YouTube Channel, Night Mind . He delves more into the obscure web horror series and sometimes video games as well. So if that suites your fancy give his stuff a look.)

UPDATE:

Nick Has uploaded a new video, and CamDrome is very much alive. I'll let the video speak for itself but it seems like something big will happen.

Glad to see that there are others on GAF who watch Nick's stuff. He does fantastic work.

As someone who is totally oblivious to all the subtle stuff in ARGs and things like Marble Hornets or Alan Resnick shorts I am very appreciative of the work he puts into explaining them.

Off topic, but is there anything out there like Might Mind? After going through his channel back to front I'm hungry for more creepy without the countdown aspect.

3 years in the making and the last time the twitter responsed was a year ago?
Scary ARG stuff like this is always fascinating and I always like hearing/reading about it w/o seeing the images themselves

I just stumbled on Night Mind a few days ago. This is probably one of my favourite new channels on YouTube. Go Watch Night Mind's Wyoming Incident video, that video is entertaining and the subject matter is scary.

Interesting stuff. I hope this video gets the developer to jump back into character.

The only problem with ARG's is that they can run out of steam and the unpredictable human element can lead to them being de-railed and the guy running it to lose his footing and interest. Like the BENDROWNED ARG from a few years ago, that thing was awesome but then idiot youtube accounts started popping up pretending to be affiliated and trying to steer the ARG and eventually the guy just gave up.

oh yeah I remember this. I think people saw the domain registration and it was the meat boy guy who registered the website.

Night Mind's stuff is great.
This game is an oddity. Maybe Edmund knows something now since they asked three years ago.

So, I don't think it means much, but the Camdrone Twitter is set to "Private" right now. I don't know if stuff's going on behind the scenes or if it's just taking a break, but it's doing... Something.
