I'd buy a Vita tomorrow for a portable NiGHTS. Pauls Code is doing a great job in making that dream come true soonish though. I'll also choose to look the other way while others for comical reasons bash NiGHTS Wii. NiGHTS Wii is ace.

To be fair, I played it before I played the Saturn one, so to someone who had never played Nights before it was amazing.
The Saturn one is better though, so I understand why people who had waited a decade for it might have been disappointed.

haha, naw. This picture was taken shortly after the game actually released, I was so disgusted by what they did to the series I just threw it out. If I go back in the GAF search archives I'm sure I can find the original post with a little trouble.
Anyway, I can't wait to finally play some decent NiGHTS. I guess it has to be a remake or whatever sort-of-remake thing this is, since I don't think modern SEGA is capable of doing it from scratch

I had an okay time with Journey of Dreams. It certainly could have been a much better game and certainly wasn't a game that made the franchise shine. I own my copy and do enjoy playing it.
If they fix all of their old PC ports and bring a bunch of nice new ones like of course Shenmue and Skies of Arcadia, things will be pretty nice. The direction they're heading is already pretty good.

Even if the gameplay was pristine in Journey of Dreams, I wouldn't be able to handle it because of the ridges on the Nunchuck / Classic controller thumbpad. I need full, smooth, 360 rotation.
I had the same issue with Geometry Wars for the Wii - wanted to love it but I couldn't overcome the annoyance of the thumb pad ridges.
Yeah, the ridges are amazing for certain games (3D platformers, Super Monkey Ball) but terrible for games that need circular motion.

Even with the ridges, this was the only way I could get it to control acceptably. After getting used to it I had some fun with it, but it lacks everything that makes the original so spectacular.
Exactly the reason why I never understood why people claimed the gamecube pad was the pinnacle of controller design.
If - and this is a big if - if you can make it through the cutscenes and dialogue and other bullshit to actually get to the main game, you find a pale imitation of the original that's worse looking, worse playing and misses the point entirely.JoD really wasn't as bad as people make out. Not as great as the Saturn version, but I found it highly enjoyable after all the walking and cut scenes -_-

Seems criminal for Sega to be sitting on a game of such high quality.
A Virtua Fighter collection would be awesome. Don't know how much I'd actually play it, but I have incredibly fond memories of VF2 and 3 in the arcade.
I do not believe the ridges were the reason the controls felt off in the sequel, it was just that the controls were shittily programmed, a problem permeating all modern Sonic Team games. Take for example any of the recent Sonic games, no matter the platform, they control like shit.
