Ninja Gaiden 3 New Play Movie

Hmmm, the multiplayer has potential, but man... looks like quite the clusterfuck. I guess it might because the map is just a fucking hallway lol. The Gears of War chainsaw duel mechanic or w/e going on there really slows down the game it would seem. It just doesn't look fun, but it is too early to judge.

EDIT: That bow gif is just funny to me. Don't know why.

seriously... what the fuck is this shit? even the DmC footage looks more promising than this.

1) automatic targeting on the bow, with slow mo? Could that be any more handholding?

2) new dual bladed enemies that just happen to have the EXACT same animation as the Black spider grunts from NGB and sigma, with half the aggressive A.I. They lok and abosoulte doddle to beat, even without SOB attacks. How fucking original.

3) Rocket ninjas AGAIN? Are you fucking shitting me? The single cheapest and most boring enemy type from the previous games has been brought back and given top billing. Even worse, they seem piss easy to defeat now, defeating their very purpose.

4) While im overjoyed the flying bird flip hasn't been done away with entirely, it makes the kunani climb seem even more pointless and little more than a glorified loading screen.

This is garbage plain and simple. This is a pale imitation of Ninja gaiden. It still has more of its essense than DmC but it doesn't look like a worthwhile purchase at ALL.

Edit: Just watched the last two videos, I do like the look of the new mages....best thing Ive seen in game so far..with the right A.I, they look the first thing that could be a threat in this game.

Also I noticed that the demon arm seems to serve the purpose of essence and is used for UT's. I guess you can't abuse the on-jump-land->insta-charged-UT glitch anymore. :(

From what I tested in the previous demo:-

On-landings still work if you demon arm has "blood".. but you cannot charge a UT on its own or perform a on landing when you haven't SOB'ed anyone.

More detailed analysis of the previous demo (not much seems to have changed combat wise) here.

A desert level in Ninja Gaiden? and you say it rips off Uncharted 3 ?

Durp te tum diddle dee doo.

You know, I understand some of the hate aimed at this game but some of the "fans" need to take a step back for a second and give the game a chance. Hey it may suck, who knows but at least wait until you've played a demo.
I think the Uncharted influence comes more from Ryu clumsily falling off platforms and precarious ledges crumbling as he tries to use them.

some confirmed details from the IGN stream (via IBerianrealm)

- New Game + is confirmed --- they want to maximize and encourage replay value.
- Ninja Cinema is confirmed.
- Higher levels of difficulty beyond Hard can be unlocked.
- there will probably be no playable demo release---they are too busy finishing the game.
- the new Fire Dragon Ninpo will be the only ninpo in single-player (they want players to use it in different strategic ways).

Happy with new game + and Higher difficulty levels but one fucking Nippo for the whole game? are they fucking shitting me?

Team Ninja Dog regressing to a point before NGB.

Watched 7/7. I'm not sure I like the physical wall ninja dudes. Seem as annoying as the Mages in Ninja Gaiden 2. :/

Though there is decapitation with the OT(?)s Ryu is doing. So maybe they haven't put in full violence yet. Has Team Ninja stated they're going for something like Teen instead of Mature in interviews?

Really?

1. Bows have ALWAYS had auto targeting in every NG game. The bow sections in NG were always the worst, slow mo is a very welcome addition.

2. Black Spider Ninjas are NG staples, I'd hate to see them gone honestly. They provide the best 3 on 1 fights in any action game.

3. NG games have ALWAYS had rocket ninjas, and they've always been pretty easy to beat.

4. You're right. Kunai climb is lame.

Games have to stop doing this. Losing save files and having to start again on normal is the reason I never got to play NGB on Master Ninja mode.

The city level before the desert stages is a lot better.
Pretty cool boss fight as well, liked the phantom at the opera look he had going.

I really hate this trend of putting MP in games that have no business having a MP mode, just concentrate on making a good SP experience please.

If I buy NG, I care fuck all about a MP mode.

1) Not like this....the bow auto targeted in the same way the flying swallow auto targeted. This version is WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY more handholding by by the looks of it.

2) They are not gone, just re-skinned and made easier..defeating their purpose.

3) and they were the worse enemies in the games. Cheap and boring to fight. Im not looking forward to them getting MORE screen time in this iteration.

Seeing this makes me want to play NG again but since it was last gen on Xbox that I played it I just want to ask, in PS3 Sigma and Sigma 2 are there decapitations? I remember reading ages ago that the violence was turned down on PS3 but wasn't sure if it was just someone trolling as I never really looked into it.

Also, is Sigma just the same as NGB or did they add more to it?

US version yes there is decap

Sigma has more content in terms of stages and one more weapon, but it lacks the constumes that NGB had

don't know about Sigma, but Sigma 2 does have decapitations, however they don't fountain blood everywhere, blood splatter on floor is still there. Sigma 2 was an awesome upgrade, added a few playable characters, a couple stages iirc, downloadable costumes, and the online cooperative boss rush modes.

Now, being a fan of NG games, but not knowing much about the new one, the first thing I hear is Lightning talking to Snow.

It was even weirder given the ridiculousness of Ryu riding in a Jeep while wearing his ninja outfit, but I guess you buy into that with NG games.

To add to this, Sigma 2 wanted to change the tempo and style of the game, make it more like the original Sigma than 2, so they toned way down the blood and used purple mist instead for the sake of stable framerate and stuff. A lot of people hate it, I think it's all right.

The old Ryu would've been standing on the hood with his arms crossed, dammit.

The competitive multiplayer in this game looks downright awful. Why are they making it? I played the coop in NGS2 briefly and it had some goofy charm I guess, but the competitive in this looks like a mess.

Good god, this game looks like shit. What the fuck, I actually really enjoyed getting my ass handed to me in NG2, too! Fuck this.

Wait a minute, what's that sliding shit Ryu is doing to dodge? What happened to the roll? >_>

Oh man, that looks terrible. :(

I was kind of expecting to be bad, but words can't describe how awful it's looking now. The fact that I found the new DmC footage more appealing pretty much says it all.

What have you done, Hayashi? :(

Some of it looks kind of good. The slow motion when aiming the bow is a nice touch. Shooting that thing in the prior games has always been a pain in the ass.

But WTF at Ayame's outfit. She's wearing a bath robe. She should have been in a desert bikini or something.

It was auto-aiming, wasn't it? There was rarely a reason to use it in in first person mode.

Most of the bow sections in Black required manual first person aiming. There may be some sort of lock on mechanic I'm forgetting, but to knock guys off their horses, or snipe rocket soldiers, first person was the only option. NG2 emphasized lock on more, but manual aiming was still necessary for some encounters. In any event, it sucked. The aiming always felt a little wonky, it slowed down fights, and IMO just wasn't very fun compared to the melee fighting.

I wouldn't shed any tears if they removed the bow entirely, but if they're going to keep it a little slow motion lock on sounds like just the thing to remove some of that frustration.

The Bows always SUCKED in NG, lets not kid ourselves

this is not a 3rd person shooter engine so i think this solution fits the mele combat focus of the engine well, you have to worry about timing more then aiming

and im fine with that.

FYI, the slow-mo during aiming with bow is only for a moment. It'll resume normal speed after a few seconds.

god, do you form the defense force for every badly designed action game or what? I can see with my own eyes...its more than just a "moment" and far longer than you need to deal with any threat.

someone here once mentioned that the guy who programmed the "invisible lock-on" system of the OG NG and NG2 left with Itagaki. Judging by the limited and nerfed Flying suplex/swallow and now this auto targeting BS with the bow, im inclined to believe it.

Team Ninja Dog indeed.

How did you lose save files?

Ninja Gaiden Black has save files locked to the system and the hard disk. Hypothetically, if your 360 red rings and they send you a new one, or you upgrade your hard drive, the old save file will be incompatible.

I don't know if that's his situation, but if I had to guess, that would be it.

Ryu's slide looks so dumb. Who thought that looked like a cool evasive maneuver?

I don't really have an issue with the auto-lock on bow. That's always been one of the weakest parts of NG's combat, and they're trying something different with it. I did roll my eyes when they mentioned it would be comfortable for people used to third person shooters. Come on, guys. Know your demographic please.

Ayane looks weird.

It sucked because this was the case with ALL Team Ninja games up until Ninja Gaiden II... or at least they were always tied to the harddrive.

The first dashboard update removed that. I know because I was able to move my DOA4 save to a memory card and able to play it on another console.

Okay. I have a question. Is it actually Hayashi playing during this demo? If so, I understand now, why this game looks SO terrible and boring.

He dies during that last scene with those push-over, slow-motion projectile lego guys. I mean, he actually dies on Normal. This game makes perfect sense now. This just looks so boring and silly.

That doesn't fix Ninja Gaiden Black, though. I lost my 200 hour game save due to my 1st of 3 360 failures. I got about halfway through a completed NGB save on my second 360 before it died (and I lost that savegame, too). Needless to say, my Ninja Gaiden games are all on PS3 now which are portable to new systems.

Yeah, that's him playing in the Gamespot video, lol

I was talking about Xbox 360 games in particular not original Xbox games. I've never used my 360 to play original Xbox games, so I wouldn't know.

Do cloud saves fix this now? I have to restart since I haven't played NGB since I got my slim, but I'd like it to transfer to my bedroom 360.

Not a problem. I just wanted to clarify that that dashboard update did NOT fix Ninja Gaiden Black (or the Halos for that matter, you'll lose those too, when your 360 red rings). A lot of people consider Ninja Gaiden Black as the pinnacle of the series. I just wanted to make sure that it was known that you're rolling the dice by playing it on the 360.

I don't know. I only play Black on my original Xbox which still works. I play the rest of the series on PS3 which I consider to be safe, since you can transfer/backup saves to USB.

If anybody knows this answer, I'd love to be able to have Ninja Gaiden Black and Ninja Gaiden 2 reliable again on the 360.

You can transfer all 360 saves onto a USB. I think that was enabled when they decided to allow people to use USB memory sticks.

Does the 360 even play BC Xbox games anymore? The question isn't for you, just asking if anyone knows.
