No, it's 1080p, and this came straight from Hayashi himself during the time that they released info on the latest build.

You guys don't it's possible that with more time and familiarity, they just figured out how to get more out of the PS3? It looks like they did, and what's with this upscale talk? That's never been stated. No game advertising 1080p thus far is upscaled, I don't see why Team Ninja would make the first. And if that was all it was, can't anybody just do it?

Anybody notice the new music early in the first level? Clearly he was playing the demo (maxed ninpo, weapons) but I was surprised to see the enemy placement got tweaked some. They come at you in the "safe starting area".

I'm still getting a DOA4 vibe from this game, in that it'll blow your mind in HD, but on standard def people will hate on it for looking similar to the Xbox games. The little touches to make the environments look more lush definitely improve the aesthetic. That first part of Chapter one was barren before.

Yea I want to believe that the shots are the real thing but after seeing the gametrailers video (even with its horrible compression) I won't assume anything until the demo is out in April.

In either reported res, it's always been 60fps.

There are conflicting reports all over the place about the 720/1080 scenario. Which includes what I've said. We'll just have to wait and see upon release.

They are "real" in the sense that they are in-game assets. But Team Ninja always releases screens that have a higher resolution, more AA, better angles, and sometimes they touch up the hair and lighting, but these are things the actual game just doesn't have when you play it. I just post the "Bull Shot" jpeg in every Team Ninja screenshot thread to remind people of this.

I haven't heard anything new about it since the 1UP interview where they said 720p @ 60fps.

Seriously, this 1080p 720p crap is getting ****ing old. If someone says its 1080p and then post a damn link with an interview this past week, is it possible that for once we just believe them? Bookmark the quote and if they are wrong when the game comes out make fun of them?

Well i meant more in the way that they have a long reach and there's 2 of them, so you seem to be able to slice through multiple enemies at once quite easily. Sure it's on normal so it's fairly easy anyway, but i still see it being too easy to use on higher levels.

Didnt the guy say she would have a dark hair version in the final game, and probably a few other looks. I think it was last weeks 1up show.

I don't like Rachel's costume either. Hope that in NG2 she either has good clothes and different hair, or she's not in it.

No. It's still a overhauled portion of the original engine just redone. It's not pushing anything graphically that the system couldn't handle. No parallax texture mapping to give the environments such as the ground and wall textures dpeth or a overly concentrated lighting & shadow engine. The lighting isn't the best. (Of course you know that since every Team Ninja's lighting model thus far is stuck in last gen. It dosn't say anything about the console itself. Now if it can generate all that I mentioned plus maintaining 60fps & 1080p then yes they got more out of the S3. But as of now theres not really much to get more out ofsince the game itself isn't pushing anything to the limits as far as textures & lighting is concerned.

All you need is a JPN PS3 account and you can download the demo. It installs like any demo from the NA store does.
 
Impressive! 1080p 60fps with those quality graphics is really impressive.

Maybe this will just add fuel to the flames but I am personally still not sure if I feel 1080p is really worth the extra cycles... I haven't seen a 720p TV next to a 1080p TV though, maybe that would convince me. I bet on a 1080p projector where you get a screen 70" you would be able to tell quite a difference.

Of course I care if it makes a huge difference, it would push me to get a 1080p TV. You're just rendering a lot more pixels, what you do at 1080p you could do * x at 720p. If it 1080p looks that more incredible then 720p then that's cool.

But yeah, either way the game is very impressive and I'll buy it day one.
