Nintendo 3DS Games: what does this thing have?

oh man, Mighty Switch Force was totally worth the 2.99$ I just paid.
I'll probably wait for an equally good sale before I get Mutant Mudds, it seems likely that it could get a Game of the Weekend treatment as well

I've been blazing through it over the last couple days. Very pleased with my purchase. Clocked 5.5 hours so far, I've par'd the main 16 levels and the first 2 bonus levels. 3 to go!

This game gets some flak for being too short, but at my current pace I should have about the same completion time as Mutant Mudds when I hit all the Par-times. (admittedly, most of that was before they added the extra 5 levels)

The only game I truly disliked them from was Thor on the DS. Otherwise, I think they put out some clever stuff.
Yeah, they're really at the top with high polish on some certain aspects. But for me, their games always tended to go from "wow this is kinda cool" to crashing into a wall where I'm left wondering "is this all there is?" MSF is neat -- solid platforming mechanics, great 3D effect, nice music and graphics -- but I'm at level 14/16 and I get a gut feeling that it's going to happen again, but there's no regret here at the sale pricepoint; that's just way too good of a deal.

Level 16 actually mixes it up quite a lot, although I wasn't really a huge fan of what they did. It was still pretty fun, anyway.

Also don't forget, 5 more levels will appear after you get beat stage 16.

I hate how games go on sale after you buy them. :(

On my travels, I popped into the Pokémon Center in Hamamatsucho to do some shopping and whilst in the Union Room, I noticed something different about the tethered 3DS unit that had a demo of Pokémon AR Searcher running on it.

As you can see in the linked images below (quoted for size limitations), the back slot panel and 3D slider parts are a Metallic Red. Inside is a Cosmo Black finish but the interesting part is the top cover which is two-tone. The top part is Cosmo Black and fades into a completely reflective glossy silver finish.

I hadn't seen anything like this before on NeoGAF or elsewhere and I wanted to share my discovery with you guys - I hope you like it!

Think test or dev units have red on them since they aren't true retail units.

Whats Shinobi 3DS like? It's £9.99 in a local store, may pick it up if it's any good..
It's surprisingly good but really difficult (and sometimes cheap).

It's kinda like 2d Ninja Gaiden, only you have more moves and the game is more forgiving.

I don't know how faithful it is to the genesis or arcade versions because I never played them. I probably should.

Dev unit (codename Panda). Old news.

The odd thing is that apparently the system was tethered for demoing in a Pokemon Center? Why would Nintendo put a dev unit there?

That is what I was thinking. Also of note was that on both units, the HOME button had been disabled. It was purely a demo unit running the AR Searcher app.

I'm going on holiday soon - should I get Tales of the Abyss or Kingdom Hearts 3D? I'm not sure I really liked the demo of the latter, so I'm leaning towards Tales - is it good?

yes, its a Tales of..game proper. Long, satisfying and with good characters. If you like that kind of games, of course

This is genius. I'm keen to know also.
I might try it myself but I don't know exactly where to place the nubs, someone posted that they'd be placed to the left and right of the start and select buttons.. So I'm thinking directly to the left/right of them. I wish I had the 360 nubs. Seems easier to place and is a proven method.

every 3DS owner should buy Theatrhythm

EVERYONE
I picked it up over Rhythm Thief

It was absolutely fantastic for the first few days, but I got bored of it very fast. :/
Probably wasn't worth the $40 but I enjoyed it a lot. I would have been happier with $30

Need to pick up Rhythm Thief soon and I already have money down for KH and NSMB2. Good times for 3DS :)

And thaaat's it for MSF! All courses Par'd with 7 hours in the log.

I just *barely* managed Bonus.05 with a mere 0.15 seconds left on the timer xD

I actually agree, I was in love with TFF at first, but after about 15 hours in, it just started to feel a bit repetitive for me. I'm still planning to return to it, hopefully unlock all the songs and characters, but I just thought I'd take a break for a couple weeks. That should give me enough time to get back in the mood.

I just did too, I broke down and bit D:

Haven't played it yet though.

Wise choice. I'm up to level 7 now and loving the game. For 3 bucks it's a steal.

EVERYONE

I went with the other rhythm game (Thief) :P
Loved the demo so I ended up ordering from Amazon. Theatrhythm looks fun though, so I might bite later on if it drops on price and I don't get tired from the whole rhythm genre (playing rhythm heaven right now too).

anybody checked out this family tennis game on the eshop? the japanese voices in the demo vid are killing me, but the game itself looks kinda fun.

wanting to beef up my 3D catalog a bit more (but not spend a ton of money on filler, "cause hey times are tuff ya know")

yeah, still kinda wanting Rhythm Thief from the demo, went with Theater and holy crap, that thing has so much stuff, totally a shame it didnt get a US demo to show it off.

I want to get pokemon conquest but it's not out in europe to my knowledge, but still works on any Ds

If i bought the 3ds would it still work ?

The game would need to be compatible with your 3DS' region. Pretty sure Conquest has DSi features, which makes it a game subjected to region-locking. I think it releases in Europe later this month, however.

Holy crap, Rhythm Thief looks freaking terrible. Granted I have not given the trial a shot, so my opinion barely matters, but from the videos I've seen, the gameplay looks pathetically easy and generic.

I thought Theatrhythm looked easy, but RT is just clown shoes.
