Nintendo 3DS Games: what does this thing have?

Guys, do you have any recommendations for some laid back, almost relaxing, games for the 3DS? My wife is looking for a few things to play that wont stress her out at all, just something to unwind with. She has Nintendogs, and loves Mario until she gets frustrated with it the more into the game it gets. I don't care if it's a retail game or on the eShop, it doesn't matter. I'm just trying to think of other ideas so I can pull her more and more into this crazy world, lol.

I told her about Animal Crossing, so I'm pretty sure we'll get that for her whenever it comes out. Thanks!

Perhaps Pushmo would be a good choice. Perhaps it can add a bit of stress when you can't figure out the puzzle though.

Pilotwings Resort is pretty chill.

If you're not that good at games I could think that not flying through the rings well could be stressful

Steel Diver? I'd love to recommend Pushmo and Rhythm Thief but she may end up getting frustrated with some of the puzzles.

Steel Diver even manages to stress me out.

Question to 3DS XL owners (and im sure this has already been discussed). What game are you most impressed with on the XL?

For me it would have to be OoT. The game just looks absolutely beautiful. Mighty Switch Force also looks amazing.

Mario looks good, and I have to say Mutant Mudd's I did not care for, but looks pretty great on the XL, I was smiling while playing, possibly will spend the 8.99. Was waiting for it to drop, but it's so much easier to see. Also Ghost Recon is fantastic

Kid Icarus is a bloody spectacle. RE: R comes close

have you played the Picross games? Just download Mario Picross from the eshop or buy both the DS ones. Tremendous entertainment at your own pace

This may come a bit odd, but Mario 64 DS. It looks better on the big screen (for me), and the control pad takes care of all the gripes I had with the using the D-Pad on that game.

Mario Kart 7 looks amazing in that screen.

Seems that Art Academy may have DLC right from the start? It comes out Oct. 1, so I wonder if that makes it the first official DLC from Nintendo? Unless something comes out for NSMB2 before then, I suppose. From the official website:

With the Art Academy: Lessons for Everyone! game, you can learn to draw or paint on your Nintendo 3DS™ system and have a great time doing it. An in-game tutor provides over 30 lessons that will let you explore the theory and techniques behind art, and help you improve your skills—no matter what your artistic ability.
Intuitive touch screen controls put pencils, colored pencils, pastels, and paints at your disposal—all with an incredibly lifelike feel. Free Paint mode lets you create to your heart's content using the included tools, plus photos taken on-the-go can be used as a new subject. Then, create and share your work, or even your own custom lessons via the SpotPass™ feature. If you want even more lessons, you can purchase a selection of optional add-on lessons from the Nintendo eShop.
Release your inner artist with this robust art training tool—only for Nintendo 3DS.

So I've been looking around and getting ideas for MS 3DS games, if we'll see any.

For instance, perhaps Keen Games, could reuse their engine from Dawn of Discovery to make a 3DS adaptation of Age of Empires Online, the style is freakishly similar.

http://ca.ign.com/articles/2009/07/07/dawn-of-discovery-wii-review
http://ca.ign.com/articles/2011/08/25/age-of-empires-online-review

And Tantalus could reuse their Funky Barn 3D engine to do a full 3D Viva Pinata for 3DS, which should include every Pinata from both 360 games (I seriously doubt Pocket Paradise had exclusive Pinatas).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_s3PhKboOPY

And is it just me, or is the farm music ripped straight out of Animal Crossing (GC)?! O_o

Tantalus was also behind Monster Truck Madness for the GBA, and now Mass Effect 3 Wii U. But the original devs of the series, Terminal Reality, should have no trouble doing a 3DS entry instead.

And perhaps get N-Space on a MechAssault game. Maybe because they're doing Roller Coaster Tycoon 3DS, they could try Zoo Tycoon?

Climax was behind Viva Pinata on PC, and Silent Hill SM on Wii, I'm sure they could do a really good 3DS version of VP, but Tantalus already has a suitable engine in place, so costs should be much smaller.

What do you think?

I think Viva Pinata is a deader franchise than Medabots in the west. Microsoft hasn't touched that thing in ages, and if they do they'll probably resurrect it for a Kinectimals expansion pack or something.

It's such a shame, the IP could really soar on Nintendo handhelds, I don't think THQ marketed the DS game at all.

But as another idea; how about Two Tribes with their superb pre-rendering skills (Toki Tori 1 & 2) for VP? Basically Pocket Paradise on steroids.

Kinectimals, Minecraft. Kind of the same thing. It's like when Sony makes Sackboy skins for a forgotten IP. You're never getting Heavenly Sword 2. Sorry.

I wouldn't even mind a port of Kinectimals iOS, it'd be more likely if the pet genre exploded like it did on DS, something about Nintendogs + Cats didn't agree with me (30 frames, really?), it also could've been bad timing.

Oh man I was this close to getting a 3ds XL today. I was listening to the 8-4 Play podcast and they were really positive about it. I decided not to get one at launch because I wanted to wait for some good games to come out. This thread was pretty helpful to see what kind of stuff the 3ds has to offer. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be much right about now, but I'll definitely be more interested in the lineup in the future.

Ace Combat Assault Horizon Legacy and Nano Assault. Both of those look so glorious on the larger screen. Especially Ace Combat. The sky just seems much more expansive, the landscapes more sprawling. Sally, really impressive.

Nano Assault just benefits from awesome shader usage and art direction, looks so much better larger.

I the meantime, play Devil Survivor 2. Please? :(

So I was able to pick up Ghost Recon:Shadow Wars last week because of that Best Buy sale.

This is a really good game. Does a great job of scratching that advance wars/fire emblem itch. Worth every cent. Not too far into it, but I'll definitely put some hours in.

I want to see a sequel to this game. That would be a day 1 purchase.

Besides Fire Emblem, I'm hoping more games in this genre are made for the 3DS.

I don't know how many of you are interested but tomorrow, Splinter Cell 3DS will be the DOTD at Best Buy, for $4.99:http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=320462

Also, if you can find it in stores, Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer (used copy) dropped in price at Gamestop...it's now $1.99:

4 Heroes of Light is still backordered at Best Buy :( One day you'll be in my hands...one day...

I actually want to get Angry Birds trilogy, but 30 dollars is too much.. I'm excited for Luigi's Mansion 2, I never played the original, but this one looks to expand on it. So, I'm looking forward to it ^^

Star Fox 64 3D
Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D
Super Mario 3D Land
Kid Icarus Uprising
Mario Kart 7
Pac-man and Galaga Dimensions - Looks surprisingly good on the XL

omg, Paper Mario playable at PAX ,_,

Also, something about a "sticker book"

A collectible Paper Mario: Sticker Star sticker book will be given away at retailers nationwide closer to the launch of the game, giving PAX Prime attendees a way to proudly showcase their collection. More details about the sticker book will be revealed at a later time.

Zeeroid will be happy. Harvest Moon: A New Beginning comes on 6th November, and there's a 15th Anniversary Edition.

Here are the games I now own for my 3DS XL (not counting Ambassador games, 3D Classics, and other virtual console stuff):

-Colors! 3D

-The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D

-Mutant Mudds
-New Super Mario Bros. 2
-Nintendogs + Cats: French Bulldog & New Friends

128 GB SD cards work in the 3DS. All you need to do is format the card to FAT32.

Reported on Go Nintenedo.

p.s. so vita how are you feeling?
(Perhaps this is thread worthy?)

Oh wow, I thought the 3DS could only support SDHC not SDXC. Good to know, but I still have a long way till I fill up the 32GB SDHC in my 3DS.

I doubt I'll ever fill up my 32gb SD card, unless major retail releases go digital only. Animal Crossing
and MonHun.. fufufu
would be the only game I'll buy digitally.

My 3DS has very little storage space but it is no where near full. My Vita has only 8GB and it is constantly near full.

How bizarre.

Cool to know, but I'll probably never need that seeing as I'll probably never buy digital retail titles.

Last handheld i owned was an original grey gameboy. Just picked up an XL on friday with 3D land. I'm blown away....why'd I wait?

You were probably wise to, now is a really good time to be getting into 3DS. We had a bit of a bumpy start... and hey, if you haven't played since GB era, go explore the mahoooosive DS back catalogue. There's pretty much everything to suit your taste.

What is a 3D Land?

Resident Evil Revelations is the true killer-app. It's PERFECT.

When will Nintendo on their own handheld? Nevah.
