maybe it was left behind in a bar after a few beers? never would happen in America
Didn't the new Iphone got leaked that way in the US? It isn't China exclusive :lol

To think, only a few days until people get to play on the real deal in Chiba, and then not long until the media blow-out.

It's really not our job to police other forums and if it's the law its really not our job. The last thing you want is to bring negative attention to this site. See: Gawker media

There's three possibilities:

1) IGN's info was wrong.

2) IGN's info was right at the time, but Nintendo since bumped up the amount of RAM.

3) IGN's info was right but was referring to memory available to games rather than total physical memory, and this info refers to total physical memory.

I wouldn't discount either of the last two. I do also agree that a single 128MB module of RAM may make more sense, but it's not like Nintendo hasn't gone with 'odd' amounts of RAM and less cost-efficient RAM configurations in past systems. More than that though, I think if the software on this thing really is a lower level OS loader or something, I'd expect the memory total it's reporting to be physical memory.

Hard to say though, although I think it is safe to say in either case that the OS is taking 32MB, whether 96 is the total or 128. If they cracked the system open it might be easier to see how much physical RAM is in there, but I guess they're not doing that...
4)devkit system has more RAM than consumer system

Yeah, if it's a dev/debug system that's another possibility.

It would be nice to see what's under the devmenu thing.

edit - reading the above link via google, it sort of sounds like it is a test/dev system, perhaps for peripheral partners or something. Dunno. The fact there appears to be a SDK on it is a hint I guess.

Debating ethics of how he got the 3DS = yawn, none of our business really is it? and we have zero influence over what happens from here or info about how it happened, arguing and hypothesising = useless.

This is about the leaked images. I personally have a beef with the 3 layer look, its like a sandwich and I can't stand it. Its the main thing preventing me from buying a launch one. Maybe the 2nd revision will tidy it up.

That said once I have it in my hands and see some kick ass games that could all change.

So for those keeping up with the 3ds, will it have expandable storage (mem stick) and a USB connection to a PC? can I download my pics from it and upload music to it?

Looks awesome to me. I love the look of the DSi and this looks like that with a bigger top screen (obviously) ... I don't understand the calls of "fugly" ... are you people just trying to convince yourself not to buy it at launch or something?

what? GAF is a site you can get banned for posting Famitsu Scans, or other Gaming Magazine Scans

we don't post those why? because someone has rights to them and posting it would be like taking money away from those magazines

we do not have rules on stolen hardware but this is not something we need to defend or avoid pissing people off about

anyway I am not posting there, I'm posting in this thread on this site and not making excuses for something I know should not be in public hands, you are acting like this is Famitsu / Jump / IGN with this thing as a legit coverage, its not.

Seems like this has pretty clear precedent on GAF. We don't discuss actually doing anything illegal, but if someone hacks or pirates or steals something useful somewhere else then we have no problem talking about it.

SD(HC) card, so like DSi you can take the photos elsewhere and put music onto it. No direct USB connection.

its chill over there now anyways. I made peace with them (my chinese friend has been helping me translate), and now they are mad at the Germans.

Let it go

Damn Germans, stealing our Chinese opposition!

Who are we gonna fight with now? The Thai?

EDIT: But yeah, just ask 'em some questions and tell them it's nothing personal. We're just fucking with them.

I still find it funny that all

magazine someone pays for and scans = banned

stolen $300 hardware for video and pics = awesome hero spy!

to be fair I want both leaks but does not make it right

Which starts this saturday though.

damn you I was trying to sike myself out and telling myself its next week to make the wait easier :lol :lol :lol

I'm going to bed, its late in china and that thread is dying, plus the OP has run off scared so no new info today at least.

Wed! can't wait...

Agreed.

Bit two-faced to complain about it but then to still come into the thread no?

Well, one is piracy, the other is potential theft/information leaking. Kind of a different thing there.

Anyway, my point is that we shouldn't be going over there rustling feathers.

we don't know that it's stolen!

i mean, then again, we could also argue fair use on scans, especially when it's just a few pages with a translation and not a whole magazine...

It's unlikely this is a dev unit:

- DS Devkits aren't standalone units. They look like small no-breaks with a DS tethered by a very thick cable. The "DS" unit contains no hardware other than input/output (buttons, screens, etc), everything is in the "host" unit (including the cart slot).

- Nintendo doesn't have "test" units for handhelds: they use re-writable cartridges which can be used on retail units. "Test" units are only necessary for optical media consoles.

I agree

now I wait for saturday :D

The Dpad doesnt look that bad, even the positioning isnt too uncomfortable... judging by pretending my DS has the dpad there >.<

Looks like it should be fine, sure it may feel awkward at first, but for minutes at most surely.

If the analog nubbins is as good as people say it is, the D-pad shouldn't be that much of an issue anyway.

That's cool. In other news, the Japanese Super Mario 64 DS has a really nice box cover design.

Wait, where is the 3DS cart slot? Does it use the exact same size and shape cards as the DS, or does it have a separate slot for 3DS cards?

Same size and a shape, save for an extra appendage on the 3DS-only carts so they don't retrofit on the previous consoles.

Exact same size, as seen in E3 pics.

Doesn't the "是不是" part make it a question? I'm reading that as "Aren't these foreigners looking forward to the coming pirate paradise?" Or something.

Pretty much. I'm actually quite surprised by the (lack of) number of chinese speakers on GAF.
