They may try to start it again-

Wait look at the bottom screen it says press start to go to CtrMenu!!! OMG OMG OMG HE HAS TO PRESS START. The Dev name for the 3DS is CTR so CTR Menu is either the 3DS Menu or the Dev Menu. Either way i very want to see it!

我说楼主你按一下Start键试试看-try the push the start button!

老外眼睛真尖-Foreigners eyes are so sharp

so it may have an OS after all?

So all those people who bitched about the ram, all for nothing :D

No where the hell did ign get there specs from ?

There's three possibilities:

1) IGN's info was wrong.

2) IGN's info was right at the time, but Nintendo since bumped up the amount of RAM.

3) IGN's info was right but was referring to memory available to games rather than total physical memory, and this info refers to total physical memory.

I wouldn't discount either of the last two. I do also agree that a single 128MB module of RAM may make more sense, but it's not like Nintendo hasn't gone with 'odd' amounts of RAM and less cost-efficient RAM configurations in past systems. More than that though, I think if the software on this thing really is a lower level OS loader or something, I'd expect the memory total it's reporting to be physical memory.

Hard to say though, although I think it is safe to say in either case that the OS is taking 32MB, whether 96 is the total or 128. If they cracked the system open it might be easier to see how much physical RAM is in there, but I guess they're not doing that...

32MB reserved for the os is pretty substantial, although it does have to run a web browser with that so its understandable. Still crazy to think a Nintendo handheld has as much RAM reserved for its os as Microsoft's home console.

Major UI and shop channel interface and speed improvements as good as confirmed???!!?! :D

Got two be 1 or 2 then, if Nintendo left out HD for cost reason with the wii they aren’t going with 2 different sets of ram, it must be 128MB.

It may be a powerful little hand-held but I still think Nintendo would take the cheaper option.

Guys I think you're getting your hopes too high. I say that this will be 64 + 32 MB RAM, so it matches the IGN info. But the vastly improved and updated UI doesn't sound very nintendoish to me.

Of course I would love to see that, some little OS with Twitter, Facebook, real online platform, web browser and things like video chat, etc. But that doesn't sound like the Nintendo way of thinking at all.

that comic is depressing

why the guy would be a hero if we never knew what the thing looked like. If any changes was made we would be very excited so far we have some RAM news but we would all know this in 5 more days too

the comic is only missing nintendogs + cats pissing in his ear after he was shot

Focusing the customer target and the marketing on young adults, as seen on their concept videos, doesn't seem the Nintendo classic way of thinking either yet they did it anyway.

I hope this means something

Twitter and Facebook Apps from Nintendo? they don't even have a Facebook account :D

I would like to see this but I wont hold my breath

Oh man that looks sexy. And 96mb of RAM? Please please tell me they're going to put that to good use.

That isn't the only time NeoGAF got into other people's affairs. Like when NeoGAF invaded some poor kid's Digimon role playing forum.
Link plz?

Well, the thing does have a in-game web browser. Which by itself would justify that kind of memory allotment. I'd prefer them to spend that kind of OS memory usage on a more bespoke, 'proper' online and services platform but we'll see.

You can upload the pics you make with the DSi camera directly to facebook, so that's something.

ehhh, they have already some sort of facebook app on DSi. you can directly upload a DSi-taken photo to your fb-account and it even goes into it's own new created "DSi photos" folder

edit: bloody hell, beaten by poster above :(

well, the gurl in SnakeNDS'es avatar is pretty hot after all

edit: @ tence below
I already found the original, which I prefer to yours

oh man its getting funny over there!

The 3DS has worse dpad placement than the 360 controller, although still better than the N64 controller.

I found the DS lite very uncomfortable to hold and the buttons awkward to hit with anything other than where my thumb bends. I don't think Nintendo makes comfortable handhelds at all, at least lately. That dpad and overall retainment of the DS design doesn't offer much hope to me.

Foreigners aren't meant to enjoy the pirated Nintendo.

[At least I'm assuming that the 'heavenly' is a reference to Nintendo's name.]

Seeing this atrocity makes me very worried that a second revision will come out down the line.

I want the 3DS NOW but should I wait for a nicer looking revision?

Sighhhh

(This will be the first time I buy a 1st "Gen" Nintendo device)
Trade ins!

Please for the love of god don't start some stupid anti piracy war over there. Let Nintendo handle their shit.

Not a fan of the analog stick color but what can you do. The RAM sounds nice.

Iwata: [laughs] So I was watching this unfold online and decided to turn my jet around and come on over to see what's being done to deal with this.

Factory Owner: Yes, so... the item has been recovered, the worker fired, and I personally confiscated his PC, camera, and have a cook currently preparing a meal from his dog.

Iwata: [laughs].... [nervously laughs]

godspeed, leak guy!

-the 3DS looks better than I thought it would, though I'm not a fan of the gloss - I would've preferred matte like the DSi.
-either 96 or 128 MB RAM sound hella nice.
-LOL @ those "OMG TEH FOREIGNERS!!11" comments :lol

I would still be cautious about the information we can get about that unit, as we still don't know if it comes from the retail production line or the development/debug line, which would imply better capacity (or more RAM) to help in development.

닌텐도 DS: 850mAh

닌텐도 DSi: 840mAh

닌텐도 DSL: 1000mAh

닌텐도 DSi LL: 1050mAh

닌텐도 3DS: 1300mAh

Pretty nice jump....

And you can argue that this would count as the leaking of trade secrets to if the person who took it originally was an employee.
