Nintendo America announces 3DS demo tour

I'm assuming you work at a Best Buy?
You assume correctly.

It seems like demo kiosks will roll out to different retailers in waves, since it seems like we're going to have them all to ourselves for the first week, at the very least.

UPDATE: On my way to the subway (Grand Central is my local stop), I decided to stop by the 3DS booth. Almost all of the demo units were gone, they had been dispatched to various places around the city. Only the booth and about 10 units remained. Makes sense, they are probably having the squad of demo units dispatched to places like Times Square, Union Square, Lincoln Center, Wall Street, etc.. All the big crowd areas.

I am at Grand Central right now. There are 2 lines, 1 for Street Fighter and 1 for everything else lol

Just went this morning to the citigroup location in Chicago, i will post detailed impressions later but suffice it to say, i was impressed when i saw how the games looked and in 3D!~

Had some extended time at the Grand Central demo pod today. A few more observations:

-Lego Star Wars III: More impressed with this than I was originally. The framerate issues aren't as bad as they seemed at first - it runs at 30fps most of the time, even if the drops are a bit more frequent than I would like. I also thought the graphics were pretty good, with what looked like some solid use of shaders. This was the only game I played that made me wish 3DS had a larger, higher-res screen; the characters are just too small considering their distance from the camera. FMV cutscenes, apparently captured from the HD versions' in-game cutscenes, look nice in 3D as well. Gameplay-wise, if you've played one of TT's previous Lego games, you know what to expect.

-Pilotwings Resort - Controls smoothly, with really nice visuals; a bit simple, but extremely colorful and attractive, with impressive lighting during the evening flights. I just wish it ran at 60fps, which, oddly, it seems to provided there's nothing on-screen but the sky. I also think I get why the max 3D setting on this has gotten so many eyestrain complaints - while your Mii and his/her vehicle almost always pop out from the screen, the environment is frequently so far away from the cameras that it's rendered as 2D. That sharp contrast in depth might be problematic.

-SSFIV3D - Wow, how did anyone ever mistake this for a 60fps game? The 30fps 3D mode still looks remarkably close to the console versions (dioramas aside), though I wish the demo had allowed access to the 2D-only 60fps mode.

I went to the Grand Central one today. First time ever going there, it's so nice. Anyway, 3ds, shit works.
I played the AR first, it kind of took me a minute to adjust to the right angle and actually looking at the 3d. Pilot Wings really showed it off though. It's like looking into a window. I didn't really have any off angle problems. It's obvious when you purposefully do it. When playing a portable game I play them looking directly at the screen like most people probably do.

I will most likely buy one. But, I'm probably going to wait a few months or something until the library fattens up a bit. It sucks the games are going to be 40 bucks though. That's a lot for a handheld especially after getting used to $5 and under iphone games.
