My main problem exists in the fact that the Wiimote can't see the TV screen, it's only acknowledging the presence of the sensor bar. I also feel the movement stuff is dumb in games like Zelda and Metroid. It makes a lot more sense in games like Wii sports and WarioWare, those games appear to be made enormously more enjoyable with the accelerometer stuff. Maybe 2 sensor bars would make more sense, that way the controller knows where center screen is. I may be wrong, but I don't remember the Wii asking for screen size, just 4:3 or 16:9; wouldn't it be more accurate if the Wii knew the size of my TV?

Firstly.. Zelda does have an adjustment feature where you select how wide the sensor bar is in relation to your TV + even manual up/down adjustment of the cursor. Secondly, the Wii remote is not designed to work as a "laser pointer", and this is where we usually find what divides those who don't want to like it from the rest. If you can just understand that there is no need to aim the controller at the screen, you just look at the screen, find your pointer zone and stay within it, you'll be fine. Also, taking the time to adjust the settings (above/below + sensitivity) and positioning the bar as close to the screen as you can usually helps.Icanplaythat said:I disagree, I just used a laser pointer against my wall and I was able to cover a huge amount of it with very small movements. Mario party, Mario kart and smash bros are crack on an optical disc though. Before you know it you're drunk and it's 3am with those 3. Zelda/metroid series are lame IMO.

No man. Cos as a human being, I am able to adapt. I will use my dexterity to play Wii U games like I play any other, and I will still not get upset about moving my arms to do it.Icanplaythat said:So on a slightly different note, you guys who are voraciously defending the pointing and the motioning, are you upset with the WiiU controller? It might not have pointer functionality, it comes in one piece and it's kind of bulky which would make it less motion friendly.

I just fucked her for a few gen, then left.
No, because new controllers mean new ways of playing games. The only thing about Wii U that worries me is what Nintendo is telling developers about Wii Remote use, if anything at all. I hope they require Wii Remote Plus for all Wii U games that support Wii Remote, because if Wii Play Motion did anything it was to show that the real potential of MotionPlus is still largely untapped. I think Skyward Sword is going to feel like a next generation game, because there really hasn't been a AAA "core" game designed for full motion control before, and this will probably be a 50+ hour experience for most people (hopefully closer to 80 with all side quests).Icanplaythat said:So on a slightly different note, you guys who are voraciously defending the pointing and the motioning, are you upset with the WiiU controller? If you don't see the ones you want on one console, there's two others, PC's, and handhelds to game on.
There's always imports and, for Mother3, a fan translation which might probably be far superior to whatever Nintendo would come up with.Mortrialus said:Nintendo's refusal to localize Mother 3, Xenoblade, The Last Story and Pandora's Tower broke my heart.

I did however, gradually lose interest in them.
I may buy the 3ds when mario next does something on it, drive a car/run around/play tennis, I don't give a fuck as long as it's mario doing something.

Personally, I saw the Wiimote and motion direction and immediately knew 'Not for me'. But I only ever really bought Nintendo consoles for a few Nintendo games... like 5% of my games over the course of a generation.
So I didn't buy a Wii. For a long time. And then I bought one on Craigslist for like $100 with Zelda: TP, Metroid Prime 3, Mario Galaxy, NSMB, and Smash Brothers.
And to be honest, I barely play the fucking thing. But it's still nice to have.
Play 360, PS3 or PC. Plenty of great non-motion games on those platforms.

Freezie KO said:Yes. I'm disappointed with it. I would've much rather had a Wiimote 3.0 and a nunchuk 2.0.
I know it'll be usable because, well, we've all played with dual analog pads before. It's just a regression they made because of backlash posts like this one.
And I don't think the touchscreen/dual screen is nearly as interesting as pointer controls, as taking your vision off the main screen is tantamount to just pausing the game or bringing up a menu. I like touchscreen on DS where you can directly control the main play area, but with Wii U the main play area will always be the television.
