Nintendo Delay-Age (Metroid Other M and S&P 2 Delayed)

For every day Other M is late I will blow up a school bus.

The last Metroid previews I read all said 'The game looks/feels/is essentially finished', so I would suspect that this is a tactical delay rather than a necessary one.

Damn, Metroid delayed in the US means us Euro gamers will have to wait even longer.

At least we get Sin & Punishment 2 in 2 weeks:D

I kind of wonder if a post like this registers in some government database.

Don't you dare give these games release dates at all Nintendo Australia!

I actually wouldn't mind much if it was pushed back to August. At the rate things are at now It's a tight fit to get the games I want with several being left on the wayside so it'd actually give me more breathing room.

Metroid: Other M has changed from being released on 6/27 to TBD.

Well, fuck.

Edit: I expect a new date at E3. I just hope it's this year.

There's nothing about this anywhere in the net...

and the source here is a random Email to a random guy.. -_-?

How many hours should mods give this thread before closing it down?

So an almost finished title gets delayed to "TBD"? That doesn't bode well for a Zelda release in this year, I guess.

Now you know how we feel. (We being Europe.) :(

I think it's safe to say that this gen we were treated much better than US gamers with both DS and Wii mate, don't complain.
360 is only console where I can complain about region coding/PAL games not being released this gen (Raiden Fighter Aces, Raiden IV...).

True. I'd be absolutely shocked if this game hits a million LTD in the US.

That would be a smashing success, why the hell would you think NOA expect anything near a million LTD for Other M?
500k would still be a great feat.

well they want Other M to break the 2 million barrier like the old metroids so i'd say they would want near a million in the US

Is there any chance that they will refine the first person view (so that you can play it like a regular metroid prime trilogy game)?

Thank you Nintendo. Metroid should be polished beyond all human possibilities, so take your time, I'll wait.

this is the positive personal spin i'm putting on it. hopefully this is them putting the extra spitshine on it, and not just delaying for strategic purposes.

What was Corruption's LTD?

By March 2008 MP3 was at ~1.3 million worldwide.

I'm more than okay with postponing Sin and Punishment. I'm just grateful that we're getting it. Now, I can relax and comfortably get all the stars in Galaxy 2 before I get my ass handed to me by Treasure.

Not really. Like last gen Nintendo released a handful of titles in only one of the US and Europe. US got ExciteBots, Mario Super Sluggers, Legendary Starfy, Glory of Heracles, Chibi Robo DS, Fossil Fighters. EU got Another Code R, Disaster, Wii Chess, and Tingle RPG. I'd say they're about even in terms of 1st party, 3rd parties are still sloppy in the EU (Rune Factory Frontier 1 year later than US, Rune Factory 2 not even released, NMH2 late May, etc) . That's what pisses me off the most, that these titles are out there in English but only coming to one Western market on time, if at all. Oh well, at least we all have it better than Australia.

Anyway, these delays don't bother me too much. I have a heap of games to play, and Galaxy 2 will keep me busy until Star Successor. It wouldn't be Nintendo if they didn't dick around with the release dates a bit.

It would be pretty disappointing if this became Nintendo's holiday game, Zelda getting pushed into 2011. If they must delay for quality, as Nintendo do, then it must be done, but I'm still hoping this hits around its original launch date and there's something just as big for the end of the year.

You mean make a completely different game?

I doubt it.

It may not be for Nintendo themselves, but it is for people on the internet.

its so they can spend half their e3 presentation on it, even though we've seen it for a year and will likely play it a few weeks later.

(damn you wiisports resort)

And to those who say a metroid release in august won't carry nintendo to 2011

Look at 2008.

If zelda's gone, nintendo could definitely make it with xenoblade, wii vitality, and metroid.

I still have no clue why people think this delay has any connection to Zelda.

M:OM is almost done. In all likelihood, we're looking at a 2-3 month delay, at most. It's not going to get pushed back to the end of the year, and it's sure as hell not going to be Nintendo's big holiday game.

It's obviously not going to be their big holiday game, since they have other games in the pipeline for that period (Xenoblade, Last Story).

But there obviously will be less titles in the holiday season than Nintendo expected there to be earlier this year, which is what would explain the release schedule being spaced out.

Do you seriously think that Nintendo is going to base their holiday schedule around a couple of new, unproven JRPGs? :lol

Well, it's no more ludicrous than people thinking they're going to try and replace Zelda with Metroid.

But seriously, it doesn't affect me because this May I'm going to buy NMH DS and then I plan to play SMG2.
You scared me for a second, I thought you were saying that there was going to be a No More Heroes on the DS.

True. I guess I should have said 'Now you know how we felt.' I was referring to Metroid: Other M being TBD in both the US and Europe now more than anything though.
