Those games were kind of a mess. Why would you want the camera behind one end of the court in a game where judging distance is crucial? I also don't like how busy everything was. The best arcade basketball game is still NBA Jam and they couldn't come close. Stay away from Mario 64 HD SE.

Stuff like camera doesn't matter, it's a remake. The games had great assets, were polished and showed attention to detal. So did KH Re:COM, BBS and 3D. That's all that's needed. It's not like Grezzo had a great track record before OOT 3D.

EAD Tokyo won't be doing any remakes inhouse and they could definitely do a lot worse than SE Osaka when farming out. And when they do develop another 3DS Mario, it'll be Super Mario 3D Land 2, not Super Mario 64 2.

It was not announced during a Nintendo Direct, but during the Fall Conference last year, along with Fire Emblem, Mario Tennis and Monster Hunter 4.
So far, Bravely Default has been present in two Nintendo Directs (February and June) with new trailers.

Same reason that despite it being a Japanese conference, the thread title and OP aren't written in Japanese--very few people here actually live in Japan, so having the time in JST in the title would be completely useless and uninformative and have people converting it anyway. Eastern US time is much more familiar to the people who are likely to read the thread and easier to convert from, so it makes much more sense to have it in the title than having the time in JST.

SE PDD1/Osaka are fans of Mario 64, were influenced by Mario 64, have made action games and have made Mario spinoffs. Seems like a natural fit imo.

I definitely agree! I am surprised that with the release coming up so soon in Japan, we still have very little information about the American release. I hope Nintendo doesn't think that they need to downplay Animal Crossing simply to go for a more hardcore image. I love AC and can't wait for the next game to come out.

Nintendo's handing off remakes now, so it's a bit pointless to argue against that. Obviously Nintendo doing it themselves would be best for the remake, but I'd rather those resources go to new games anyway.
