Nintendo Direct WiiU/3DS @ 8/7 - NA: 7am PT, EU: 4pm CEST

You guys really think Nintendo will release unannounced games in 2013 that are worthwhile? I expect some downloadable mini game shit at best.

So, to pass the time (and help me fall asleep, since I have an alarm set for 9:00 AM Eastern), I'm going through the January Wii U Direct thread, and the reactions still make me laugh. Of course, they're also hyping me up for this Direct. :P

I always go back to read reactions. They are quite entertaining.

I'm not expecting any new announcements, but I would definitely be satisfied just getting new footage on games that were already announced.

2013 = 11 titles

Lego City: Undercover
Game & Wario
Pikmin 3
The Wonderful 101
Wii Fit U
Wii U Party
Wind Waker HD
DK Country: Tropical Freeze
Super Mario 3D World
New Super Luigi U
Pokemon Rumble U

2014 = 8 titles so far

Mario Kart 8
Bayonetta 2
Super Smash Brothers
X
Fire Emblem X Shin Megami Tensei
Yoshi's Yarn
Miyamoto's New IP
Steel Diver multiplayer free-to-play project

I think back on the Wii, around 9 games was about the most Nintendo released on it back in 2007, 2009 and 2010.

Nintendo is really good at stirring up the crow. Can't wait for tomorrow's Nintendoomed articles regardless of what they show.

Can someone reverse this gif.

Why people apparently don't want to realize you can't release three of your games in the same month is beyond me. Have fun expecting some new 2013 announcements, you'll get none.

Well virtual console and eShop is something that can be exploited further.

I wouldn't count NSLU and Rumble as full games. But you're certainly right - 2013 is going to fucking deliver for Nintendo fans in the next few months.

Seriously all I want out of this is Virtual Console news. That's it.

Please, Nintendo...

Yeah, I'm kinda tired they're stuck with NES and SNES games.
Want to play Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64 and Smash Bros on my gamepad!!!

So this is what we're all expecting right?:

-SM3DW is actually a small part of the Super Mario Realities MMO and it's due out tomorrow.
-Wind Waker HD comes with a 5-hour demo of LoZ: The era of flooding, which is essentially Skyrim but with Gorons and shit.
-Retro gives birth to a tiny baby DK (as in, YI:DS Baby DK) which announces that their new IP, a WRPG inspired by D&D (Complete with collectable figures to use in your own adventures you make) is out yesterday.
-Metroid Aftermath gets announced and it's a FPS with so much lore attached, it makes Master Chief blush. (Also because he partners with her in this new game. If you complete the game in under a minute, you get a 30 minute movie of passionate romance.)
-Pokémon Spectrum is announced. It's an MMO designed by Blizzard that's free to play on any device. And yes, that includes IOS and steam.
-Kirby's Bad Dream gets teased. Plot is that Kirby goes mental and kicks everyone's ass. Made by platinum games. Features live Kamiya commentary!
-F-Zero GX HD is shown and it's F-Zero GX in 1080p at 60fps. Online play, custom track creation is included. Special edition includes a replica of Falcon's helmet and the entire anime series relocalized by the Disney Studio Ghibli team.
-Earthbound 2 (A.K.A Mother 4) is announced. Graphics are Rayman origins quality. Sound done by the London philharmonic orchestra. Comes with a bio-engineered Mr. Saturn.
-Miyamoto reveals that he's working on 20 new titles. 10 new IP's, 10 franchise revivals. Teased ones are Starfox, Star Tropics, Famicom Mystery club, Stunt Racer FX and Knight Move.
-Account system that's accessible on every Nintendo system. Have a physical copy of a game? Send photo proof to Nintendo, you can redownload that game forever. On everything in any region. Even in OZ.
-VC gets N64, GBA, GCN, Genesis, TG-16, Neo Geo, Commodore 64, Saturn, Dreamcast, Atari, ZX Spectrum, Amiga, 3DO, Jaguar, CD-I and Cassio Loopy support. Unreleased games are also put on the service. Starfox 2, Raven Blade and SMB5 are the first ones.
-Nintendo buys SEGA and makes Sonic Adventure 3, Alex Kidd in Omniverse World, Space Channel 5 part 3, Crazy Taxi world and Factory Panic 2.
-Nintendo buys Atlus and makes Persona 5, SMT 5 and Snowboard Kids 3.
-Nintendo buys Capcom and makes SF5, Megaman 11, Megaman X9, Legends 3, Battle Network 7, Final Fight 4, Darkstalkers Insurrection, 2042, Ghouls and Goblins, Resi 7, Dino Crisis 4 and a gritty next-gen SONSON remake.
-Nintendo buys Konami and makes MGR:2, Castlevania 1999, Contra: Balls to the Wall, Goemon World, A Parodius game designed by the Monty Python folks, Suidoken 6 and Dream Penguin Adventure EX.
-Nintendo partners with Valve to create Half Life 3 X Shemue 3.

Anything less and we can consider them DOOMED.

/s.

Actually, a buyout would likely have no bearing on the 100 billion yen profit goal since the deal likely would take much longer to finalize and for money to be exchanged, or at the very least they could make it so that such a sale appears on next fiscal year's reports instead of this one At least that's my understanding.

Why would you tell me this?!? :P

Super Mario Galaxy 3 by Black Friday.

Why not Mario Galaxy 1+2 HD?

___

Am sort of expecting Seaman, Plok, and possibly a trailer/hint at new Zelda in Wind Waker HD to be announced, but I have very little basis for the last one other than I think it would drive sales/justify the $60 cost for some people.

-Kirby's Bad Dream gets teased. Plot is that Kirby goes mental and kicks everyone's ass. Made by platinum games. Features live Kamiya commentary!

Would play.

-Earthbound 2 (A.K.A Mother 4) is announced. Graphics are Rayman origins quality. Sound done by the London philharmonic orchestra. Comes with a bio-engineered Mr. Saturn.

I laughed.

-Account system that's accessible on every Nintendo system. Have a physical copy of a game? Send photo proof to Nintendo, you can redownload that game forever. On everything in any region. Even in OZ.

How do we get Nintendo to hire you?

John made a comment about not squealing. Jeremy Parish of Us Gamer made a comment about hoping it was that John has been localizing DQ VII. Mark came back and said "I say this in all seriousness: better. WAY. BETTER"

Not explicitly about the direct but the timing seems auspicious.
Hmm I guess I dont understand the original context because I dont get it.

8-4 is localizing Mother 3? To be revealed at the Direct?

Hmm I guess I dont understand the original context because I dont get it.

They work for a localization company, 8-4. I presume they may know something about a game that they have worked on is being announced tomorrow. Their most recent Nintendo translation was FE Awakening. John is a huge huge DQ fan, and after translating 6, seemed keen to translate VII when it was announced. If it is something bigger then John translating VII, it might be huge. Again this is just from general feeling, but the timing seems to close to not be in reference to the impending direct.

There was no context, he just said that.

OK! :)

Something better than DQ7 is such a tease. I hope it's not something underwhelming like Monster Hunter 4. Aren't some of the 8-4 guys big into MH?

I'm expecting one surprise. Maybe not a megaton; a miniton, perhaps?

Sometimes I find the promotions and stuff like that the most interesting aspects of Directs. The 30/30/30 Famicon deal, sales, etc.
