Nintendo Downloads - August 2014

Not this month but Battle Network 2 I believe comes out later this year and 3 comes out presumably early next year

No, we're getting Mega Man, 5, 6, X3, & Battle Chip Challenge this month. Battle Network 2 & 3 are coming eventually, but most likely won't hit until sometime next year.

Thanks to both of you. Pardon my ignorance, but where is this information coming from? I've looked at the links in the OP and they don't even have dates for the Megaman that are coming out this month. I just got a Wii U so I have no idea how Nintendo release schedule is like.

So I have $10.01 for my eShop balance. I'm interested in getting a Virtual Console game.

I'm thinking Mega Man Battle Network or Yoshi's Island, both GBA. I've enjoy both games, and would love to replay either of them. The original MMBN is my second favorite in the series with MMBN2 as my favorite. I remember hating Bubbleman's portion in MMBN3, where I had to go, then return, then go, then return, wash and repeat, so that soiled my opinion of that one.

I like 2D platformers, and Yoshi's Island was always a great one. I know the GBA version is harder due to lack of items (I think), but I don't think there's any other issues.

Which would you get?

I'd be interested in Ufouria, but I don't like how dark NES games on the Wii U are.

Alright, good.
That's just something I need to always make sure of any time anyone asks for a Virtual Console suggestion.

Of the games in your post, I would suggest Yoshi's Island.

Nintendo is hiding the release partly as to surprise which day each game comes. However, they put those Megaman titles at the same as the press release highly suggesting that these are the titles for the Mega-August. No other Megaman that is yet to release is on their database. I'm slightly mistaken in my original reply as according to Capcom Unity announcement of the Virtual Console titles, Battle Network 2 and 3 along with Zero 2 could make it to late 2014 but they are likely far enough back to be 2015 releases in NoA's VC backlog.

Ah so just putting two and two together. Thank you again. Really wanted to play the series together without having to wait. Maybe I'll look into something else to pick up.
Eh, might pick it up anyways since I got $15 from the digital deluxe program.

Have you considered Klonoa on the GBA? It's a perfect blend of platforming and puzzle solving. Outstanding game, if a bit on the easy side (although the bonus levels will kick your ass!). I don't think Yoshi's Island was particularly well suited for the GBA. The GBA port suffered from a lack of visibility due to the system's screen resolution, which was much lower than what SNES games were designed to be displayed at.

Yoshi's Island GBA has items. You can still choose to not use them, of course. It also has a few extra stages that the SNES game didn't have, while losing out on a couple of level features (Touch Fuzzy, Get Dizzy takes a big hit unfortunately). Otherwise it's a great re-creation.

I haven't played that Mega Man game, so I can't really compare the two. Hopefully I've helped your decision a little, though.

Frederic: Resurrection of Music is really good. If you're a fan of rhythm games I say this one is a must, specially if you like classical music.

Ah, I see Ash & Misty surfing it up without Brock. Poor Brock.
Must have happened during the Orange Islands. Where is Tracey? Well, you try using a wet sketchpad...

Also 'color' (*sigh*) me surprised WayForward put out a non-Shantae, non-"code for food" licensed game on the GBC.

I didn't really think it was that bad on GBA. The warping effect isn't as smoothly and seamlessly done on the GBA but the effect was still the same.

I have a feeling that our pleas for people to check out this game will fall on deaf ears because it's not an SNES game that people have played 17 times before.

You don't know what this news means to me.

My daughter just saw me playing the 360 game the other day, and wanted in. But I only have one controller. But, she does have a 2DS...I hope it makes it over.
That's great. I think it will come out here, the US 3DS eShop is apparently a great place to release games. Also, if you haven't yet gotten the chance to play Protect Me Knight in multiplayer, you're in for a real treat.

Woo!?

EDIT: Poo :(

Why is there a giant green rectangle going across my screen when I boot up Wii mode? It's only there in the second transition between Wii U and Wii mode. Not there while it's actually in Wii mode. This normal?

I was a bit behind on these threads, so sorry if this is late. Recently, people were asking if there is any way to use a download code on somebody else's system, then transfer the NNID to another Wii U, or if a download code could be used if they don't own a Wii U. I presume this was to collect the free game from MK8 before buying the system.

It's worth noting that the codes don't seem to expire. So in the case of MK8, you could've received the code in your e-mail and hung onto it until you had a system. I just downloaded my copy of Donkey Kong: Original Edition, and I got the code in November 2012. I've held free Club Nintendo codes for over a year as well.

In this case, they do expire. You need to choose a game and generate the eShop code by the end of August, and it needs to be redeemed by the end of September.

There's some definite irony here >.>

Ha! Story of my life :p

Oh, so it is. Well, good thing I wasn't I wasn't more on the ball then! At least it works for CN games - great for code hoarders like me, I usually wait til the next CN year to redeem if I'm already at platinum.

Do you remember when Iwata said something something about VC prices..... it wasnt exactly about VC prices, it was more like you should get some discount or something free when you buy VC games.....

Do anybody remember this or did i just dreamed about it?

Because i still feel bad about buying VC games at these prices....

Thanks and I would love paper mario, I've never played it.

Damn, i never played it too...
But i just bought an old, real N64. So maybe i should just track it down

Iwata says a lot of things...seems like half he says comes true, half doesn't. Either this is never going to happen or it's not going to happen until the next releases of handheld/console; which is even worst, because the longer they wait the more marketshare they lose. They seem to be saying a lot with not fully following through with it. Shame really.

Question regarding Liberation Maiden:

I'm playing the iOS version, but I didn't get any replies in the iOS thread. It's a general question about the game itself, though. I played through the first parts of the game, and though it's really pretty to look at, I kinda had a hard time discerning what I was supposed to be shooting at. The explanations were fine, but making those targets out onscreen was not as straightforward. Any tips?

You did get an answer, by the way.

In my defence, I'm not checking it out because the game is unavailable for purchase in Canada and no one seems to care enough to even find out why.

Does the digital version of Lego City Undercover have better loading times than the disc version? I've heard the loading times are terrible on it so I was wondering if it would be better to go with digital.

Pretty sure it's identical. Didn't notice any improvement with the download version.

Edit: actually, pretty sure the loading times are due to how the devs. made the engine and stuff, rather than a limitation from the disc drive or something... so going digital wouldn't have much of an impact, if it all. So you probably should go physical for that one, especially if you can find find it cheaper.
