Since nobody seems to care... the Nintendo Week announcement was Excitebike: World Rally for WiiWare. Plays same as NES Excitebike, updated graphics, online play, releases November 9th.

It doesn't improve their holiday release list though and yes I do support third parties but games like Crystal Bearers won't hit till 2010 so outside of Mario this is the second holiday season with fuck-all and jack shit in Europe for the Wii. Who knows, maybe NFS: Nitro will be good... :lol

You see them for other game and on other systems, but Nintendo hasn't really shown any interest in this route until now. Thanks to this announcement, a door has been opened!

If they can do Excitebike, what other old franchise are plausible now? Mach Rider? Balloon Fight (Or better yet, Balloon Kid!)? Clu Clu Land? Duck Hunt? Ice Climber?

It really is an exciting prospect, don't you think?

Not a chance, not any time remotely soon under the current retail economy. Nintendo has been among the best in terms of safeguarding its spot in terms of packaged goods. If there's one company you can trust to maintain a retail presence, it's them, really. The market that they're aiming for isn't going to be ready for an all digital future any time soon, either, either in America, or especially in Japan.
