Nintendo E3 2017 Spotlight Thread: Not my problem. [Over]

What game are you most excited for?

So, how much 3ds do we expect?
Hopefully none during the Spotlight, they already announced a new Pokemon and 3 Atlus RPGs last week. It would be cool if they showed up during Treehouse but I'm hoping this is just Switch stuff. It needs more eyes on it than 3DS at this point.

Hopefully it's decent, I did hurry it a bit this year.

I should have also linked my card:

First E3 I watch where I don't have the main Nintendo console. (And I'm not planning to get one either).

Will be rough to watch. :(

Same. I still don't have a Switch and I don't give a damn about 3DS anymore so if they announce something huge, it's gon' be rough to watch :(

I assume the Green Lantern picture hints at a HAL Laboratory I.P. revival---with the "double" hint maybe a game starring Lolo and Lala?

I'm sure we've all been quivering with anticipation, but I've survived the last half-hour of the wait by riding around restlessly in BotW. Whatever happens, and however much or little we receive, we'll always have that (and Arms at the end of the week).

Quoting my own scorecard from last night, just for convenient personal reference:

I'll be happy to get one of the following, elated to get two, and miffed to get none of them:
- Animal Crossing (main-line, not mobile)
- Metroid
- Platinum's game
- Retro's game

I do not expect:
- New details on VC, online services, or OS updates (as opposed to a promise to address them later)
- Super Smash Bros.
- Pokémon
- Mother 3
- 2D Mario or Mario Maker
- Wii HD remasters or Wii U ports (if we hear about them, it won't be in the Spotlight)
- Significant AAA/retail third-party ports we don't already know about
- Platform confirmation for BG&E2

I thought this was a relatively realistic approach, but given Bill Trinen's effort to manage expectations by reiterating the focus on holiday 2017, I'm starting to think it's overly optimistic. At this juncture, I'm preparing for the dread of receiving none of the four items in my grab-bag category.

I'm also not expecting anything significant out of the first Treehouse hour. Odyssey is the banner title for the entire show, and if they keep its Spotlight segment succinct, I think it will be the centre of attention afterwards. Last year, the lead-off segment was a close look at the newly announced Pokémon (Sun/Moon received a lengthy segment at the start after the BotW trailer and before BotW returned to take over the rest of the week). Surprises may come in the form of eShop games, indie ports or console exclusives, and more content for the 3DS, but don't count on anything big (and particularly anything far off enough that it doesn't have a playable demo). It's very rare that Nintendo makes any kind of huge announcement off their main presentation: Brawl in 2006 is the biggest one I can think of, while in recent years we received Code Name: STEAM in a midweek press event. Smaller titles that appear on the YouTube channel and in the press kits do happen, though (and I think this was the case with W101).

Essentially, if you're dreaming of a Switch retail title and you don't see it in the 25-minute blitz, don't hurt yourself with that lingering thread of hope.

Anyway: good luck, everyone! StarTropics! Wave Race! Wrecking Crew! Urban Champion! Ultra Hand!
