I am a little confused, where on earth did the "gen 4" naming convention come from. To me, gen 8 make sense; does EA just like to use their own special lingo or is this actually a common term in the industry. Never heard of this [coming?] gen as anything but 8.

EA considers the generation with PlayStation and N64 as gen 1. For whatever damn reason.

It really is quite silly, considering they've developed for and published games on earlier consoles.

The amount of pS4 leaks were pretty crazy and it would be pretty hard to top the PSASBAR fandango. But the best ninjas don't work for sony or Nintendo. They work for valve

Well, Sony doesn't have a whole lot to leak of its own stuff during its E3 conferences because it prematurely reveals them a few months before E3. It had already revealed Last of Us, God of War: Ascension and PlayStation All-Stars a few months before E3. I think Sony not only showed a good amount of footage of these titles, but also had the press try them out too. Beyond: Two Souls was revealed with a trailer just before E3 during the Tribeca Film Festival of all places. Wonderbook was revealed before E3 as well.

I notice that every time I do some nostalgic GAF-surfing. How the hell do SO many people get permabanned? I understand idiot juniors but guys who tallied thousands of posts and somehow did something so wrong? I believe he just said he wouldn't be presenting the direct?, or maybe it was the showcase?. Either way, I don't recall him saying he wouldn't be there.

Edit: Actually I think it might have been he wasn't presenting at the press event and/or the retailer event, doesn't matter much either way I suppose. I never really like his presentation style anyways.

There will be one closed event for American distributors, and we will hold another closed hands-on experience event, for mainly the Western gaming media. Also, I did not speak at last year’s presentation, and I am not planning to speak at these events at the E3 show this year either.

It sounds as though he's just not going to speak at these events. He'll be present, though.
