Well considering how awful Nintendo's last E3 was and the amount of... uh... hype in the thread, I don't even want to begin to imagine the meltdowns if the direct is a disappointment.
Unless 3D Mario, Mario Kart, Smash and WWHD seems o be garbage, I don't think this will end as bad as last year.

If Retro is working on DK or Metroid it would be somewhat disappointing as far as announcements go. I want something new.

There's probably people in this thread that have inside info but isn't able to say it.

Okay you win. I am Iwata-san. Hello everyone! I cannot tell you much. But I can tell you that Nintendo are ceasing to produce video games but will instead focus on the production of Hanafuda cards. Thank you!

Here's the gameplan to kill it on Tuesday:

Ambassador program: 5 Free GC games.
100 Dollar Price drop to $249.99 for the Deluxe
Nintendo starts a new Marketing program for this fall: "Games with No Restrictions." Or something of that ilk. Talk to the casual audience about how Nintendo allows you to rent / sell / do whatever with your purchased games.
Show some killer games.

The only problem I see is that Nintendo has completely ignored what its competition has been doing with their advertising since the GC. It's more about what they are doing and less comparing with other companies. I could see them revamping all their advertising, but they will definitely focus on their core strengths - gamepad integration, asynchronous gameplay, and NFC capable pokemannz.

I'd take either that or a new bundle which includes a few more controllers or a different game to NintendoLand. If the Direct's really good then it's going to be a pain in the ass to wait a couple weeks to make sure I'm not about to miss out on a price-drop or new bundle here though. :T

I don't think we should expect an official price drop just yet. It's unlikely Sony and MSFT will reveal pricing for at least a couple more months. And as of June 11th, there will still be the issue of a lack of games (which won't be the case late this year), so a price drop now will have less impact than having one later.

Account system for 3DS?

We should've had Miiverse running on the thing already D:
I guess that could be why Miiverse has been delayed so much?

While it doesn't allow multiple accounts the Wii U still has at least one main account you have to tie your Miiverse activity to, right?

True, though the recent bundles and basic bundle recalls seem to indicate *something* is going down in that area, it's more just a matter when. I think the 3DSXL got announced roughly a week after E3 last year as well? Really I just want to be ready when Legends and Pikmin 3 hit.

An early price drop also creates the expectation of early price drops. Nintendo's more likely to try to increase the value of the bundles they sell.

I was thinking more along the lines of: 3D mario, but you can switch characters like SMB2 USA...

I wouldn't give it much thought if it weren't for the same thing on the Lanyard, and the exact same four characters used in SMB2 USA. Could be Mario Party, too, I suppose.

A 3D Mario platformer with character differences a la SMB2... I'D bite. Although I still hope its open world; just imagine hopping into a warp pipe in the desert part of the world and being transported to the top of an icy mountain. A linear, level-based 3D mario similar to SM3DL would be a disappointment given Wii U's home console status... it's just so much more capable.

Yeah, you're probably right, I guess I'm just a little cynical but can you blame me?

Last e3 was the reveal of a new console, and yet most people thought it was an add on for the Wii, plus didn't they end the show with Nintendoland or am I remembering it wrong?

Note:
I'm sure Nintendoland is a fine game, but I don't know if it's worthy of ending a conference

Okay I'm guessing the background for this Direct will be black instead of white and Iwata will be wearing a silver sequined suit in order to coincide with the black and silver logo.

Even Nintendoland's biggest supporters would agree with you on that final point. Especially since Project 101 was ready to be shown off and the Bayonetta 2 deal may have already been finalized, not talking about their collaboration with Platinum at all was simply idiotic.

We also didn't need 15 minutes to explain how a Luigi-themed Pac-Man Vs. minigame worked either.

Oh, I'm sure we are in for an actual presentation where they do special videos and fun skits and whatnot. I doubt this will be a traditional direct.

But I like your thinking.

I dont knowif Id be more excited for an ambassador program or worried for Nintendo. I think price cut would really signal trouble, it may be a little premature now all the games are coming. Im not sure Nintendo feels or needs to feel threatened by the others

I dunno what else NNIDs are used for aside from Miiverse and Wii U friends list. I guess it will probably be required of the 3DS Miiverse app, but outside of that, who knows.

This. Just look back at people asking for Vita pricecuts only a few months after it was out. And thats by a different company.

It'll still be locked to the hardware though. This fucking company sometimes.
Wouldn't it still make recovering lost downloaded software in the case of a lost or stolen 3DS far more straightforward? How have people who've had to replace their Wii U's who downloaded eShop games or whatever onto their Nitnendo account fared in terms of getting lost content back?

New Question: What's the lamest thing that Nintendo will spend time on? And how much time do they spend on it?

Definitely the new Wii Fit and Party titles. We have already seen both so much because they have been delayed to all hell, but the general public probably doesn't know they are coming. I am really excited to see if they launch a Wii Sports U though. I love Wii Sports with friends and family.

Wii Sports is one of the few things I can get my family to play so while I like it a lot, it really is one of those games you'll immediately know how it'll play just from a minute or two of footage. I really hope Nintendo just make a separate Direct later down the road focused on their 'Wii'-line titles and don't give it any real focus during the hour they have.

10 minutes on Disney's Planes =(
god is dead

I have serious doubts that Mirror's Edge 2 will come to Wii U, and that's because it's EA.

Prince of Persia for Wii U wouldn't be shocking.

EA said no current or future games in development for WiiU so definitely not happening, at least right now. Who knows though, if its the kinect exclusive motion controlled title people are rumoring maybe it's for the best.

Not that Pikmin 3 and Super Luigi U is lame, but if they spend more than a minute combined on both, I'll be pissed, lol

Iwata did mention he wants to talk more about MP and Challenge mode. Hopefully they'll just skim over it and detail it later during E3. As for NSLU, I highly doubt they spend even a couple minutes on it. There's really not much you can say about it that we don't already know.

Well you don't ask for much.

There not going to talk about marketing campaigns. Most you'll get is Reggie taking a shot or two. You probably aren't getting an ambassador program, and if you do, no way in hell is it five free GameCube games. That's probably $100 worth of games from VC - assuming they ever get around to GameCube games. You might get a price-drop to $299 after the death of the Basic Bundle - I can't imagine they're profitable at $249 if they weren't profitable at $349 in November.

Ea is ot Prince of persia btw :P

EDIT: You're talking about Miirors Edge

It's the logical thing to do in order to take this to the next level. To prove that Nintendo means business and are thinking of only the core gamer.

EA redacted that statement. No games coming out this fall... They are making Wii U games.
