Microsoft's conference was terrible gameswise. It's like they forgot that they were making a next gen console. Y'all are acting nuts.

The games themselves weren't all that impressive (to me), but I thought the number of notable exclusives were pretty impressive in comparison to Sony.

I believe Sony had a great show.

Microsoft I didn't care about at all.

I do believe though, today left Nintendo well positioned to have the best games. They just need to show what they promised plus a couple surprises (retro and something else) and they could really win. The games NEED to impress though.

P.S: vita was a train wreck. They are not even trying there. If I was a vita owner id be pissed. Is official, the handheld market is Nintendo owned again.

my problem here is that despite the ps4 allowing me to own games, they're joining in on the fun of locking away content that will be crucial to most upcoming titles. the theme this gen seems to be mmo open-world games. that makes pretty much all multiplatform games useless to me unless i build myself a pc.

I feel like a lot of people are getting taken in by Sony's attack dog stance but not considering the content of the presentation.

Sure, the console is $399, but it's really much more if you're going to pay for PS+ over the life of the console.

Sure, they're not fucking you over as bad as Microsoft, but they're taking a step backwards from PS3 in forcing you to pay for multiplayer now.

That said, I loved what Sony did for Indie games during their presentation.

Curious fact.

Junichi Masuda, director of the Pokémon games, is telling people to watch the Nintendo Direct. The Nintendo Direct is Wii U focused...

Not jumping to conclusions...

I'm expecting to be disappointed like a lot of people here. Mario/Kart/Smash, usual tried and tested formula. Nintendo had better bring it with the first party games and third party funded stuff, because it looks like the only real third party in board at the moment is Ubisoft. And I can see them giving up after their Q4 titles like AC4 and Splinter Cell sell crap numbers.

microsoft was showing off new shit (although killer instinct looked really painfully bad). whatever insomniac's thing was looked fun and bright like their games haven't been in ages. crimson dragon rightfully had its fair share of applause despite the lack of sound (which, unlike battlefield 4, wasn't too big of an issue with microsoft). titanfall looked interesting, or at least more interesting than destiny, which is like someone at bungie played borderlands and decided to make borederlands.

That said, I loved what Sony did for Indie games during their presentation.

as boring as it was, i did appreciate the gesture. it was neat.

Microsoft showed a lot, but (a) much of it likely was portrayed as being exclusive, while actually being multi-platform, and (b) few of the games were genuinely compelling (to me). Insomniac's thing and Titanfall are the only ones I can remember off-hand.

Sony didn't have as much but they delivered where it counted with the Square Enix stuff, which has a very real chance of being exclusive, the indie-fest, and some solid first party efforts, all while re-emphasizing that PS3 has plenty of steam left. I walked away definitely being more impressed overall with the games I might be playing on PS4 rather than Xbone.

I agree that this is kind of an annoying trend, though for different reasons. I'm personally not big on social gaming unless it is something nice and non-cooperative like deathmatch. I got my fill of MMOs a long time ago.

Hopefully the online experience in most of these games doesn't resemble shit like WOW in any way. I don't want to join guilds and make friends and all that shit. I won't do it, in fact.

Now, if it's just a single player game and other people are randomly popping up in the same world as you... That might be okay. Burnout Paradise had a mode like that and I enjoyed it quite a bit in a mindless way during my brief time owning a PS3.

Or if I can just log in and run around shooting random people, and screwing with them. That might be okay too.

Nintendo is going to top both easily. Sony didn't really announce anything new and nobody's going to buy the xbone anyway. All Nintendo has to do is deliver on what they promised us.

I hope you're right. But I don't expect Nintendo to drop bombs of the level of KH3 or even of the level of "no DRM".
Anyway, I still have 7 hours to get my body (and hype) ready again.

I don't know if I'm just judging books by their cover here but... seeing so many next gen "MMO" open world games makes me scared. I just hope they know that making a game open world doesn't exactly mean that it'll be better. Fucking trends.

7 Hours left!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FUCKYESH

Titanfall is a cross gen and PC title, Insomniac had a CG trailer (everything interesting was CG or two seconds long), and Crimson Dragon is a 360 Kinect game about waving your arms hastily ported to One.

None of it seemed new or next gen at all.

I actually think FFXV is more likely, if only because development started on PS3... but I think it's very unlikely that either of them are on Wii U.

it's unlikely that either of them happen for wii u, but kh 3 looked a lot less impressive than ffxv. it's probably because it's early.

if any s-e game happens for the wii u, it will probably be dq viii remake. and even that's a stretch.

In terms of my personal gaming interests, Nintendo have already won going off the fact that there will be SSB4, MKU, Mario, Retro, X, Bayo 2, 101, LttP2, WWHD... various awesome 3DS titles and hopefully a Wii U secret or two. I can't wait.

This. But take out MKU and WWHD. In terms of personal gaming interest Wii U still has the most games I want. Still PS4 made great gains in this last conference so I'm hoping Nintendo makes their lead in my personal interests greater with some Wii U megatons (I have my doubts). That's why I was day one Wii U.

don't forget about DR3, which is clearly a current gen game moneyhatted into next gen.

IMO neither Sony or Microsoft have killer exclusives. So if you're going for multiplats, then might as well get them on the machine that costs $100 and doesn't have crazy drm.

In hindsight both conferences were a little lackluster, I think the $399 price point just got everyone in a frenzy.

Purely judging on games alone, Nintendo should (and hopefully) win in that regard.

7 hours :)

Yeah. Maybe they'll just show this week's new Pokémon and say "More coming later today" in a tiny 3DS segment or something...

They already stated it would be just Wii U. Even then I expect 40-50 minutes wasted on already announced games and online connection numbers :(

Hype levels rising...to dangerous levels...I may be overhyped...

Damn... I really need to finish B2/W2... >_<

... Pokemon Snap U! #IWant2Believe

But damn that price and using Xbone's suicide to their advantage got me super hyped adding on to my pre-existing hype. I think this has been the most hyped I've been for anything, my body is ready.

See you can't just say things like that and pretend it's okay. There is nothing that can reach my expectations now.

Then why is he telling us its Wii U focused? He playing games now

He's not telling us it's Wii U focused. Nintendo have on the Japanese, American and European pages.

He's just saying to watch the Nintendo Direct:

I apologise if I caused some confusion

After spending two generations arguing how ass-backward the very idea of paying a Live subscription just so one can play online multiplayer is, I'm kind of furious that Sony is now joining that come-stained party and everyone is just skipping round the subject because HEY THEY DON'T GIVE US ASS-BACKWARD DRM #PRAISE #PRAISE #PRAISE

I can't wait to see Nintendo show off the new feature in Pikmin 3 where your buddy can press the win button on smartphone to send in an airstrike.

Gotta make use of those new 3D Pokemon models ;)

Please do not miss the Nintendo Direct, on tonight, June 11th, from 11PM!!! If some of you get together to watch, you'll have even more fun guaranteed!!!

I had maybe two hours of sleep yesterday and I have a cold. Yet I'm not tired. The magic of hype?

For the record, I think this will be enjoyable to watch. Directs are usually fun, but they're also dealing with 3D Mario and Smash. Not franchises that tend to have predictable entries despite the consistent core gameplay.

It's also pretty hard to imagine that Nintendo won't have some surprise at E3. Maybe there's another Project P-100 hidden in a corner.
