I'm awake (thanks, daughter, for the 6.30 alarm call), and just realised I've had my final sleep before Nintendo Direct. The day has finally come. T-8 hours, and my body is ready.
I really think some, including me, are underestimating Nintendo, I mean, they bringed Bayonetta 2 back from the death after all, anything's possible...
Agree, wtf was up with that. They must not have so much faith in the xbone and want to ride 360 boat still.i think the dumbest thing microsoft did today was launch a slimmer xbox 360 at $300 that looks pretty similar to the xbox one. it's like they deliberately wanted confusion between the two devices.
But this is different. Sony didn't announce the game as exclusive... and this is Sony we're talking about, if it was exclusive they'd let you know that shit. Also, each KH game on Nintendo consoles sold a million plus copies., just as well as any non mainline KH game. Someone explain to me why it's so out there to expect it to come to the Wii U? Are you guys really that beat up over Ninty's 3rd party support? There's not a logic in a lot of the games that are straight up not coming to Wii U
That $449 PS4...
I'm still waiting for a delicious megaton, I haven't got any yet.![]()
It probably will be. Sony didn't announce it as exclusive and I don't know why Square Enix would put it on Xbone and not Wii U where it has an established fanbase. All 3 games on Ninty consoles sold 1M +
Even if there are no surprises, we're getting the first look and details of Mario, Mario Kart and Smash Bros. Just because we know the games exist doesn't mean that they won't be surprising
Come on guys...happy happy joy joy
This. I felt relievedWell, I got Kingdom Hearts 3.
That was my Megaton.
And besides 3D Mario, Mario Kart and Wind Waker HD they need one more 1st party game by the end of the year
And they need to have more for next year. With Zelda in 2015 and SSB for holidays 2014 Nintendo needs more than X, Atlus game, Yoshi and Bayonetta/Retro's game for next year. I think they need to have 1-2 1st party games per month one year from now to build up the sales.
Fixed for requisite PS+ sub (if ya want online mp), but yeah I think Nintendo should go with a 274.99 bundle (with Mario Kart and free online).
I think Nintendo needs now to drop the price to $299. There is no way around it. And not necessarily because of Sony. They have some overlapping potential customer base with Xbone and a $200 difference can be pretty decisive.
That collection of four games outsell the entire library that MS and Sony bring. How is it not enough?
If only they were doing a Live conference they could play into this, but its done
Nintendo is going to top both easily. Sony didn't really announce anything new and nobody's going to buy the xbone anyway. All Nintendo has to do is deliver on what they promised us.Sony and Microsoft killed my hype. There's no way Nintendo is going to top that![]()
The PS4 price is definitely a killer. They need to cut the price, but people were already waiting for a cut after seeing what happened with the 3DS.
I'm pretty sure that the bulk of the fanbase isn't on Nintendo systems, and certainly not on Nintendo home consoles.
Dude... c'mon now. Where's the logic in it NOT coming? Doom and gloom logic clouds the mind.
I didn't say the bulk of the fanbase was on Nintendo systems, but at least a third of the fanbase is.I'm pretty sure that the bulk of the fanbase isn't on Nintendo systems, and certainly not on Nintendo home consoles.
Yeah, I guess that's why Watch Dogs and Assassin's Creed Black Flag aren't coming to the Wii U. I guess that's why Crysis 3 was a PC exclusive.Maybe the fact that there is a huge power difference between Wii U and PS4
I just want them emphasize on surprises. Except, Retro and Smash, the others are pretty much expectable. I don't know for you, but for me E3 is about surprises. That collection of four games outsell the entire library that MS and Sony bring. How is it not enough?
final prediction:
i feel like i'm the only one here who thought microsoft's conference was way better than sony's. sony's biggest announcement was 'we will not fuck you in the ass.' uh. thanks.

And I agree with you fully.Totally agree. If you're just looking at games, MS put on a better show, and their conference was more watchable.
But the price and DRM issues just made all that irrelevant to me. That and the fact that the most of the best games at both conferences were mutliplatform, so they don't really matter anyway. I can actually play them on either system.
final prediction:
everything we already know. maybe one new announcement (not including retro's game). it will be a more condensed version of sony's thing.

3 of their biggest franchises are no longer enough?
Besides, there'll be Pikmin, TW101, Wii Party, Wii Fit. That's seven games in 5 months in the US. It's also more than the 3DS had when it was 'saved'.
Two games a month for a year from Nintendo would be unprecedented. They already have 6 games for next year, based on your assumptions. There should be more than that over the whole year, but don't be expecting 2 per month for the whole year. That's crazy.
i feel like i'm the only one here who thought microsoft's conference was way better than sony's. sony's biggest announcement was 'we will not fuck you in the ass.' uh. thanks.
You're not alone, as this is exactly how I feel, but near everyone I've spoken to disagrees. *shrug*. Microsoft had a better projection of games than Sony, by a long shot, even if they did have the far shittier system.
i think a lot of people had their opinions decided in advance, given how the paywall stuff is being swept under the rug so readily after years of crowing about psn being better than live.
It was the combination of everything though, even if it was stuff I didn't want. Opening with the next gen announcement and reveal of Metal Gear Solid 5. Show off Ryse for the first time. Announce the return of Killer Instinct. Announce a new game, Sunset Overdrive. Show off more of Forza 5. First proper footage of Quantum Break. Announce Project Spark, demo it. Announce Crimson Dragon. Announce and show gameplay of Dead Rising 3. The Witcher 3's first gameplay footage and trailer. Confirm Battlefield 3 60fps. Tease next generation Halo. First gameplay footage of TitanFall.
The focus to me seemed mostly on games built for next generation systems, and that's what I liked, even if I didn't like the games themselves, and even if they're multiplatform. A major focus on next generation software.
Sony spent most of their time talking about partnerships, then did two live demos of two games primarily built with current generation hardware in mind. They did little to sell a future software forecast. We all know it's coming, but I would have liked to see it. Price/DRM/whatever is all great to here, but given I'm not buying either console day one all I really want to see is games. Games I haven't seen before, games built for next generation hardware. And that's where, in my opinion, Sony totally missed the mark, and where Microsoft played a far better hand.
And when Nintendo's rolls around, I expect a lot of predictable though lovely Nintendo. Few, if any, legitimate surprises.
EDIT: I forget about FFXV and KH3, but it's probably because I couldn't give a flying fuck about either. KH is a shit franchise and Final Fantasy hasn't been good for a long time. Versus XIII was in deep development hell for an entire generation. Just because you re-announce it and make it a mainline game does not convince me it will be good.
I guess you're right. We know the games but the details are pretty much a surprise... Only a few hours left until we see probably one of the best next gen games, Mario. Certainly, a reaskn to be hyped.I get that, and that's why I dislike leaks, but these games are still surprises
I do wish Nintendo hadn't have revealed they'd be here though
You're not. Microsoft had a better press conference games wise.

That's what a Direct is for. No walking on and off stage, no technology mishaps, no long demo-plays. Trailers & information. Or, at least, hopefully. Stuff like the LttP2 Direct gives me hope that they can cover a lot of ground quickly in a Direct.
Microsoft had a better conference; it was better paced and well-presented, and ran smoothly with the exception of the BF4 snafu. Sony's was poorly paced, often tedious and the presenters were at times awkward - except Yoshida who is awesomesauce.i feel like i'm the only one here who thought microsoft's conference was way better than sony's. sony's biggest announcement was 'we will not fuck you in the ass.' uh. thanks.
